One of the reasons Fuji has succeeded is because of it's users: they are vocal and active. Magazines and videos specializing in Fuji, plenty of online supports from Fuji itself. Fuji is very supportive of it's user base and I think photographers appreciate that.
Exactly!! Fuji literally gives the creatives a sense of community which other brands specifically Sony had missed out on. Also fuji is more like a cult😂 but hey I'm not complaining.
@H M Sony fixed it since the Venice came out, their colors now are quite good. Only Canon and Nikon have somewhat bad colors now, but Sony, Fuji and Panasonic are pretty great
I bought an X20 about 10 years ago, and since then, I've bought a couple of so-called "better" cameras, but I find myself grabbing the little Fuji anytime I leave the house. I just love it.
I have a Fuji X-H1 and an X-T2 and am perfectly happy to use em for years to come. Even the older generation Fujis like mine are exceptional cameras with brilliant lenses to go with them. I think, one of the reasons why people are choosing Fuji over other brands is that a Fuji feels like a real camera and not just like an expensive toy with plasticy buttons and a deep dive into the menu system to change ones exposure compensation for example. In addition, Fujis are very customizable and after the initial setup are quickly becoming very intuitive. I can swap between my X-T2 and my X-H1 and the only difference is, that the X-H1 has no dial for the exposure compensation. Everything that really matters is pretty much the same across all the models of a given camera generation. Put simply... I love my Fujifilm cameras and I would not change them for any other system.
Excellent video, Goughie. As a proud owner of the X-T4, X100V, and X-E4, I'm simply addicted to the look of the images I create, and the ecosystem provides such an excellent bang for buck that I simply have no need for another system. I've also met some of the coolest people I know within the Fuji community, and that goes a long way in making one feel proud to shoot amongst a body of creators who share similar passion and preferences.
Sir i have a ques. When i am taking the photos the red light is blinking, can you tell me what is the issue? I recently bought, its like this or there is some error?
I've had a X100F since it came out and absolutely love it. It's so versatile and easy to use. And yes, it does only have one lens, but that hasn't bothered me. You just have to be a little creative sometimes. Additionally it can take quite a beating. Mine's pretty dented and bruised, but still works like new. Additionally I bought a XE3 a few years back and use it with either the 16mm or 50mm fujicron. It's great since you can actually just fit it into your pocket or in my case the small pockets on my hiking bag. Plus it takes M lenses with a converter really well, making for an even smaller setup. I still have a M6, but with everything that Fuji offers you don't really need it.
The first few reasons apply to me completely, originally started photography with film as 5 or so years ago there were some real bargains but got too expensive sold some cameras that had gone up in value since I got them and got an x-pro 2 and love it so far
I bought my first x-t10 when it came out. So light and compact, the retro dials are amazing and really good quality glasses for a relatively affordable price. At that time everybody was surprised: why fuji? 8 years have passed and I'm still a happy fuji user.
Had the xpro3 and i absolutely loved it. Only got rid of it because i needed the money for another purchase. In retrospect, the X100V would have been the absolute best camera for my use since it is quite a lot smaller and weights under 500g. I hope that Fuji is bringing the X100V successor soon
Another reason to choose aps-c over full frame is depth of field. Some types of photography such as street benefit from a smaller sensor for the added D.O.F, it makes zone focusing more forgiving and as a result quicker.
@Not a Clout chaser I have full frame, aps-c, and 1/1.7" sensor cameras and can confirm with experience. Look up on UA-cam "smaller sensor depth of field" and there's a few videos breaking it down. When I go street shooting, I often take my Ricoh GRD before my Canon 5D, not just for the compactness but the greater d.o.f that makes focusing marginally faster so I don't miss fleeting moments. Full frame is great for getting shallow d.o.f (bokeh and subject separation) but that is not beneficial for all types of photography.
I acquired my FUJI x100V second hand for not much less than the new price. I’ve had inverted a year of incredibly enjoyable street photography. The Fuji film simulations and JPEG results are amazing. Not forgetting the admiration of the camera by many people of all ages. It is a real winner.
I've been using a X-T1 since 2018. I traded a church my Canon M50 for their X-T1. It's what I learned photography on. I've used it professionally and for a lot of art shoots. I just scored a X-H1 on ebay for $440. I have free access to a Dolby Atmos Ninja. So I just got a 10bit rig for less than $500. Even with the now "dated" X-Trans III sensor, the colors are so beautiful! Can't wait to start working with my X-H1!
All it would take is a single update from the other makers on their cameras to add their own film simulations. They could even increase the resale value of their discontinued cameras with updates for them, as well.
So basically an almost zero compromise lineup at a lower price point (with lens options from budget to pro). I doubt I would've settled for fuji on my own, but the hype helped and I'm glad it did. Feels like when I switched from PC to MAC. Just feels right.
Fuji did very well with their brand image and they made their products recognisable as well as distinguished from the rest. The lineup is just very well thought out and appeals to a specific audience. I sold my big bulky ugly Nikon because I was tired of its bluntness and I am now going Fuji…
I’ve just picked up my first Fujifilm camera, a mint X-E2 and love it. I plan to buy an X-T4 too and am gathering lenses (very reasonably priced second hand I’m finding), great video, you have a new subscriber 😉
Circa 2012, I wanted to buy Nikon 5100. I go to a shop in Taipei and I am physically checking on it. Almost purchased it when I glance sideways to look at another customer who is checking out another camera. He had left it 'on' resting on the counter with the lens being 3 cm from the lens cap. I was shocked with the resolution that I saw on the live view screen. That moment I fell in love with the camera against the iconic 5100. The camera was Fujifilm X 10! It has been the best camera for my macro work (up to 1 cm close up!). At another time, I was shooting some flowers in a garden when a professional photographer, shooting a model, asked me to have a look. After taking a few shots, he handed back with a compliment. I does everything and more what my DSLR DOES, except of course changing lenses but with 28-112 mm equivalent F 2-2.8, it kind of does everything.
Years ago I bought a Fujifilm mirrorless camera as I thought I needed to change to mirrorless from my Nikon D700. I discovered the Fujifilm camera was to small for my hands, I was constantly fumbling over all of those buttons. Yes I’m still using my D700 and a recently added D850… So far as the ability to emulate film looks in camera, I’d rather edit my photos at home rather than miss shots because I’m deciding which filter I want when I should be shooting.
Wanted to upgrade from my DSLR Nikon to a mirrorless; had the money available; love the retro look (incl dials!) of the new XT-5 and went for it. Absolutely in love with it.
I have three cameras at the moment; a Nikon 850D, a Leica Q2, and a Fujifilm XT-4. My favorite daily camera...my go-to...the Fujifilm. It's an awesome all around camera.
Tell the truth. People buy fujifilm because they don't know how that after 3 years the camera turns into a headache and fujifilm has a terrible costumer service. I bought a x100f back in 2020. Two months ago, the viewfinder's curtain stopped working, having only 10400 shots, so I wasn't able to use the EVF. I've been trying to contact fuji several times and I haven't had any response. I bought the camera in Miami, but I live in Spain. When I finally contactes fujifilm Spain, the only response was "If you bought the camera in the US, you gonna have to go to the US in order to solve your problem" Isn't fujifilm a worldwide company? Well, in order to use the EVF, I had to cover the viewfinder with a piece of gaff tape. This week, I noticed that every time I remove the battery to charge, the camera resets it self and I loose al the settings. This is so annoying. I think I made a terrible mistake getting rid of my nikon equipment just to buy a pretty camera.
Hard to beat Fuji if you’re not shooting for work. I’ve owned many from most of the X100 line, most of X-E line, several X-T, several X-H.. Recently sold my X100V as it was a travel/backup and I just use an X-E2/27mm setup. I’m betting many buying the V on hype aren’t even using the OVF, ND filter or understand the leaf shutter pros/cons. I do love Fuji and the community is great. Was so used to sharing Fuji images on Reddit was shocked when I got blocked from sharing photos on the Canon forum. I do prefer my Canon for AF I can absolutely trust but for everything else Fuji is amazing. My casual camera now is a GR IIIx and while an X100V fits in a pocket.. the GR disappears in a pocket.. but it’s FAR from as robust as an X100 series…but amazing images from both. Outside of colors/tones/film sims a real benefit of Fuji system is size. I’m currently spending too much time looking for a backpack that holds my TT Retro 7 so I can travel with just 2 bags. With Fuji it would fit in my Retro 5 and I wouldn’t be looking for the unicorn backpack that’s 13” wide and fits under an airline seat… our family refuses to check luggage. Fuji is amazing. Happy to see so many finding them. Tip.. keep an eye on the Fuji ‘retail’ site as the Notify Me button randomly turns to Add to Cart for the X100V. - fujifilm-x.registria.com/products_search/?se=X100V
I started with a X100 , Than XT3 and now i own an Xpro-3 but that has sadly had the sub monitor / lcd failing problem 2 times now even though the camera is not used much with 8500 shots taken. Fuji still charged me 371 euro to get it fixed a second time outside of warranty so im a bit dissapointed in the brand now . Its clearly a design flaw so in my opinion i was sold a very expensive 2100 euro camera that if you want to keep it from breaking you cant use the lcd screen at all because this problem will keep happening. Im not paying 371 euro every 4000 photos taken thats too unreliable. I know one thing im never pre ordering a camera again , better to wait it out to see if problems appear with it. But Fuji color science , overall aestetics of the camera's are unbeatable for me. I was looking into sony alpha system but i notice the files allways look so clinical and too real so i would have to put in way more time into editing a certain look.
That’s really annoying with your X-Pros, I had mine for nearly 20k shots without an issue, I think I’m in the minority of wanting them to go back to a normal screen on the X-Pro4
Feel your pain re the LCD on the X-pro 3. Have two (as I am to clumsy to change lenses on the fly). Both are used fairly equally. The one I bought new had a fail and the one I purchased 2nd hand is so far fault free. Cost me £200 for the fix - 2 months past the guarantee. Just love using them though.
I started my journey in photography with canon, and it was really great. Later in life I moved overseas ended up getting a xt1 to carry on the hobby. At first was very strange for me but as the months went by I enjoyed more and more. In 2019 COVID strikes and I had to sell many things to be able to pay rent including the xt1. Last year I decided that was time to get a camera and ended up getting a canon, funny thing is I did not liked it anymore, felt so strange and sold it after 2 months. Now I’m planning to get back to Fuji again.
Bought an X-S10 in december 2022. Mainly because I think it's a great deal, even with the X-S20 being rumored to release later this year. Got mine new for 1250€ (Kit with the 18-55mm) and at this price range I still think it's among the best you can get, especially considering their amazing lense lineup overall. By now I also got myself the Sigma 30mm and the Fujinon XF 100-400mm.
well said I sold my FF cameras and now its been three years and I am never going back (plus I love the APSC DOF it suits my needs as a documentary photographer)
I see another category of people switching to Fujifilm. Like I‘m producing videos on the Big Canon cameras (5D, 1D, R5), there is a point when the fun disappears in taking photos. The camera is too big and not so much fun to take it with you every time. So, since yesterday I am also owning a X-E4 for on the go and bringing the fun back. :)
Yes, Fuji is consistently that great. There are other great cameras by other brands, but they don't seem to consistently offer models that are as user friendly
I absolutely loved my old 2mp interpolated 4mp, carl Zeiss pocket fuji. too bad the mechanism that opened the cam was getting unwieldy. Was always busted but great photos at those low MP back then.
I bought a fujifilm X100V new in March of 2020 for like $1500 and sold it for $950 in September because it was too wide of angle and didn’t use it as much as my Sony. Now I kinda wish I held on to it a bit longer for that resale value.
awesome video, i am a cycling and travel full time in an camper van. Currently have canon EOSR but wont carry it on my bike. I see a lot of cyclist using simliar models. which one would you recommend. something small and life. need fast glass since i will take picture while riding. I shoot a lot around 24-35mm but would like to occasionally use a zoom or something around 80mm
I found my own film alternative camera. sigma dp2m. that makes perfect film like images, film like annoying process for darkroom edit. and the quallity's stunning.
absolutely love my x100v. My photos are all just personal use for documenting my life with friends. I want to take my camera to the printing shop on the way home and just pop my card in and get some beautiful prints out. If anyone else offered anything close to the sooc jpegs from fuji i'd reconsider. My dream would be a leica q with the flexibility of a fuji in terms of altering the in camera tone curve, colours and grain
I can see the appeal, but I had one and got rid of it, simply because in order to get the best results from the raw files, I'd have to use different software than I normally do, that costs money, and isn't of any advantage for non-Fuji cameras, it just complicated my life too much because I'm not going to get rid of every non-Fuji camera I have. I replaced my Fuji with a micro four thirds and I like it even better, it is noisier and lower resolution, but the lenses are absolutely tiny, and cheap, I got a camera with two stabilised lenses and a couple manual focus primes and still paid less than what I would for just the Fuji body. It doesn't do the nice JPGs the Fujis do, but I don't mind, I usually want to fiddle with the raw files anyway.
People are buying Fuji because they make great cameras that are engaging. When I walk by my pro3 or V I want to pick them up and take pictures. That being said I shoot a lot of film and there is a definite appeal to that style of shooting. it’s a slowed down deliberate process that I enjoy immensely. While a Leica m4 isn’t cheap, there’s really no reason to replace it in your lifetime. Film prices are up but a used Pentax, Olympus etc is maybe $200 us. you can shoot a lot of film before you hit the cost of a xt5. Bottom line, weather your shooting on digital or film there are more of us out picking up a camera instead of a smartphone and I thinks that’s a good thing.
Hiya! speaking of, ive been wanting to buy an older Fuji camera but the film simulation is a must!! wondering what the best old fuji camera I can get that still has the film simulation
Great video but in Australia this camera is nearly $3000 ! … I that’s more than I paid for my Canon full frame RP so I like the compactness of it and the photo quality but I cannot afford another camera at that price shame it’s become so popular and now they’re taking advantage of the market 😢
I’ve been using Fuji for over 15 years and today it’s just more of a trend now. People don’t really have their own voice so they just use people’s statements and make it their “own” to adopt to the photography industry.
My answer is…Fuji color science just speaks to the photographic reality of photons hitting a medium through glass. Their highlight protection behaves more like the documentary look of film. Fuji is congruent with the legacy of photography in a way that stands out. If you want to participate in the heritage of photography, Fuji is the place to do it.
A lot of people don't want to have to sit on lightroom to get good looking photos. I love pluging an SD dongle into my phone and sharing/uploading straight away
@@PoRtEr3196wk I've managed to find a way around it. I constantly use the remote shutter button for wefies and auto-photo transfers. the cameras sometimes do not connect but touching the camera in the 'connected devices' menu on the app does the trick. Using the phone as a viewfinder or selecting photos to transfer is unusable to me though.
@@Goughie What a town it was to grow up in. I emigrated to the US in my early 30s & now live in Arizona. Miss a lot of aspects of the UK though. My day job is in the urban simulation/digital twin field but I enjoy photography-landscapes and city-scapes. I have an OM-1…does a nice job for sure. I still have a mint condition Leica M3 (manufactured in the mid 1950s).
fujifilm is very smart, they only have 2 choices if we want a cheap camera whose price is still reasonable they sell apsc if they want a professional camera they go straight to medium format
Also, as a Sony user, Fuji are more competitive in the APSC space. Sony hasn't updated the A6XX range in years. Even if you have an older Sony model like an A6300 like I do, there's little to persuade me to upgrade. The hardware isn't compelling. The cache buffer even on the most premium Sony APSC is too small and they lack the same features as some of their full frame counterparts. The new ZV E1 would be perfect but sadly it's a FF sensor so not viable. The Fuji does more.
Hey Goughie, thanks for the video. I noticed that you mentioned at 4:36 that the X100V is almost "silent" in operation. Does your X100V make noise when the lens move/searching for autofocus? I bought one a week ago and was disappointed at how loud the camera was when turning on/off and when autofocusing. I was wondering if yours makes the same noise, or none at all.
Speaking on behalf of the xpro/x100, they have a "rangefinder look", coupled with the fact that you can get near 1:1 film look if you desire. So it becomes an argument of, "okay I like rangefinders, but I don't want to shell out for a leica", the xpro fills that need. And let's face it, the xpro is similar to what a leica would be, if leica kept pace with technology, instead of holding onto antiquated designs, and sorry, but coupled rangefinders are antiquated. You can say what you will, but last time leica changed anything, they almost went out of business. There is very little, if any difference between a coupled rangefinder, and what fuji is offering, if Leica could, you'd bet your bottom dollar they'd move away from coupled rangefinders, and opt for cheaper and easier to produce offerings that have the literal same quality. If I REALLY want an antiquated feel of a leica, I can put on a converted mount LTM or M lens on my fuji, voila, the same focusing style of a leica, for half the cost. OR, I spend $200 on used glass and get auto focus that snaps to whatever I want to focus on, while the leica man is trying to match up two images of a moving subject. At the end of the day, a coupled range finder and fuji's focus peek take the same image, if you put them in a black box, you'd never tell a difference. One just uses technology from 1950. For 2,400 I can get a modern, technologically up to date camera with faster shutter speeds, weather sealing, recipes to my hearts content. OR, I spend money on film, buy a leica for $4,000 and a lens for another 1-2 grand, no weather sealing, out of date technology, or 10k for a digital leica and its lens. No one wants to admit it, and it fumes the Leica man-philes, but the Xpro3 is a direct competitor to the antiquated Leica cameras. Fuji played the smart game, made cameras that people want, at very competitive price points. Simple as that. Kodachrome, tri-x, acros, portra etc. All at the flick of a button. And if recipes are massaged right, they look no different to their film counterparts. Imagine if fuji got rid of focus peek and added a mock "double image line up" instead..Leicaphiles would be doing absolute mental backflips of anger and foaming at the mouth. And I would love every second of it. Fujifilm ❤
Leica are an annoying, elitist company…but what will your Fuji glass be doing 20 years from now? Will Fuji still repair an Xpro1 even a decade from now. Leica glass is heirloom quality that retains its value and usability for decades. My XF10-24 lens that I paid almost 900 quid for just 4 years ago is great, but it’s been replaced and updated already. And despite mine being in mint condition it’s only worth about £350 now. Similar story with my 56 f1.2. I paid almost a 1000 for it and now it’s worth about £400 despite being in mint condition. I wish I could afford to play with Leica but I do love my Fuji though.
@@chrisjames1924 If my xpro3 lasts the next 5-6 years, which it will (xpro1's still going strong from the looks of it), or even 10 years. I'd have used up every ounce of its offering and would move onto a new camera. Sure, leica will repair your camera, 9k camera, repair cost, 1500. Unless fuji switches mounts, which I doubt, the fuji glass will still be doing its thing, much like how my canon fd lens is chugging along, or my canon 1.8 LTM, or my Leica summitar is.
@@Adrian-wd4rn the FD glass wasn’t electronic though was it? It’s the electronics aspect that gives them a shelf life. I wish Fuji put their glass in a manual focus lens. A set of manual focus f2 Fujicrons would be a dream for me.
Many people just look at the price of bodies and think well only a little more and I can go to full frame! Not realising often the big problem is as you say modern lenses from canon and sony are very expensive! XH2S and Sony A7iv were close contenders for me but the price of lenses was one reason I went with Fuji
I got the XT-4 when it was relatively new and I've loved it ever since for both pictures and video. It really pulled me into its ecosystem, and with how they upgrade every iteration, I can see myself using them with better performance and quality as it continues.
Film simulations and the retro dials are what sold me to owning a Fuji system. Bought the XT2 because it was my dream camera since 2017, only able to buy it now since I’m newly working. Now going back to the film simulations and the ability to customize and use recipes online are a huge thing/time and money saver to me. Sometimes the recipe is just enough to not edit it in i.e. Lightroom anymore (well sometimes I still do when I need to edit RAW). I temporarily paused (or might quit) shooting film since the prices here for a Colorplus 200/Fujicolor 200 is $20 for a 36exp. Which is totally ridiculous. I’m completely having fun with my XT2 despite being a 7 yr old camera. Got the 27mm (41mm equiv.) f2.8 pancake lens and the 35mm Meike f1.4. Both are completely versatile and street photography friendly (not very intimidating to people at all). I previously used the 50mm on my FE2 and on my d300 (80mm equiv.) so this gives me a totally new perspective and I’m enjoying it!
My xt-2 still going strong, bought it when they first came out. No urge to upgrade anytime soon - its just so good. Favourite lens is the 16mm f1.4 - I’ve got four primes and this lens prob does 90% of all my shooting
The Fujifilm community is so great. Fujifilm cameras are built solid , the glass is great for the price, they are really fun to shoot which makes you want to pick it up and shoot more. Great video I will be tuning in for future uploads :)
Yes , but … :) I have Sony A7c and Fuji XE4 . Fuji with grip and 35mm VS A7c with 40mm f2.5 G is really close in size .while Sony body cost more , lenses are quite affordable and have aperture ring also.
@@djstuc i have the a7iv and the x-t5 and if you compare xf 33 1.4lm(360g) is much heavy than my 55 zeiss (281g) same for the zoom 24-70gm ii vs xf 16-55 for my macro shot the xf 80 macro (750g vs Sony fe 90 macro 600g)
Fuji is killing it on the marketing front and separated themselves with the film simulations. As a long time canon user, the thing that led me to them was the GFX 50s II. Hard to believe a medium format, weather sealed body with IBIS was less expensive than the R5. Unreal
@@JL-vk1rs I mean this is just wrong. Have you even looked at prices online? Decent full frame camera offerings from Canon are a fraction of the cost of a Leica. Come on. Just because you "set your sights" on one of the highest end models doesn't mean the brand is unaffordable.
@@JL-vk1rs Canons arent prohibitively expensive. It's just that the best they have to offer costs a lot of money. But they have excellent offerings for every budget.
@@JL-vk1rs lol what? An entry level full frame Leica is what, $7000? And a Canon? Under $2K? Not even remotely comparable. Canon's most expensive RF mount camera is less than Leica's cheapest M or L mount camera.
As for me, when it's a picture I really like, I feel like I'll always have a better result working on the raw. Am I the only one? Though I absolutely enjoy the many recipes.
Fuji has a huge advertising budget. Their cameras are no better than anyone else's, nor are their glass. I had them, I didn't get along with them and passed them on, and no not everybody is buying Fuji.
Exactly. I have been with Olympus for years, but before that in film days, I had a Pentax K1000 and later a Nikon FM2. I liked both of these but never to the point of assuming they were the greatest cameras ever. A good photographer learns to use the gear they have rather than always be thinking that a different camera will miraculously solve all of their problems. Currently, Fujifilm is enjoying a surge in popularity. In a year it might be some other brand. Who cares? I believe that getting to know the camera you have is key. Great photographs will always follow taking the time to build your skills and developing your “eye”. Cheers to all camera brands!
Fujifilm having been hammering out so many different bodies and sensor combinations, that the there’s so much choice to suit literally anyone and their shooting styles, and their budgets. The prices will settle down again eventually. I’ll just keeping shooting with my battered but very much trusted and loved X-Pro1. Still going strong and an incredible sensor.
Fuji cameras are very clever indeed. I've shot film as a professional for 40+ years, and digital for the last 10...but the convincingly realistic look of film in the Fujis is the star for me. I love the jpeg recipes that you can generate, the possibilities are nigh on endless. The new 40meg chips are more than ample for the GuysWithCameras to photograph pubic hair all day long too!
To me, when my Ricoh GRIII broke 2021, when I looked all options, X100V was closest option. I wanted 1) High X-sync like in Ricoh 2) some level of weather proofing. Then covid and TikTok craze/trend hiked the prices so ended up repairing my GRIII. X100V was 1200€, but now it's 1650€ and no stock.
Been shooting Fuji since the X-T1 and I love these cameras! I dont shoot jpeg or use recipes, but the low weight small size and dials makes them a joy to use.
I like the fact Fujifilm uses the same sensor for all of their cameras. The stills' photography IQ is basically identical on any X-trans III, IV and even V camera. I also like the Fujinon x-mount lenses, that they use on every single APSC camera body. The APSC market being the main focus for Fujifilm/Fujinon, they put a lot of effort and engineering into their lenses, unlike other manufacturers that tend to be all over the place when it comes to the lens mounts, build quality and the rendering IQ.
I can relate to what you all said about Fuji cameras. They are really fun to shoot with and they deliver stunning results every time. I have been using Fuji cameras for years and I never regretted it. Great video as always, Goughie. 👌
I still use the X10 from ten(?) years. I know that the technology has moved on since then and I'm already thinking about replacing my main camera. But then there's so much I love about this camera. Compact size, retro design, easy to use controls, zoom by turning the lens and mostly: Natural, beautiful pictures, especially in people photography. For a new camera, I would only consider Fujifilm again.
Just subscribed. I moved to the Fujifilm X system because the images and colours are fantastic, and I can carry around my X-T2 and a few lenses all day in my backpack without my back killing me. Plus, there seems to be a growing amount of lens choices (including some from third party manufacturers!) that cater to every budget. I couldn't afford the prices of full-frame cameras and lenses. I'm happy with Fuji X, and I intend to remain a Fuji shooter.
I traded my X100S, Xt20 and Xpro1 for a V and after two years traded it penny for penny for a used digital CL. I couldn’t get on with the constant use of menus and simulations. At the end of the day I liked it but never loved it. Fuji are a good brand and have good cameras but so do all the other manufacturers. It’s all about using what you’re happy with. I still shoot film £5 for a roll and developing an extra £15 for scans if I don’t DIY. I like the analogue experience of film but menus and simulations and just doesn’t work for me
I still love my M6! And I predominantly shoot B&W and Dev at home which really keeps the costs down, let’s hope Ilford don’t start doing a Kodak on us!
The X100V released the month that Covid kicked off. Supply chain problems created scarcity esp with that particular model. Scarcity pushed up prices on new and many of the older models. Fuji has been gaining popularity for a while, but the scarcity effect probably added to the hype.
If only Leica had pushed the X range, perhaps incorporating the CL's EVF into an X style body - and then Fuji's x100v would have had competition - and thus hence why the x100v is in such demand, it has little competition and is an amazing bit of kit.
I got into Fuji about 10 years ago, some of their lenses are the best out there. The image quality from many of their cameras are just superb, something about them that is special. People go on about Leica, I think Fuji are in the same league.
And a tiktoker told people to get the camera because you can use the film emulations to not need to edit your images

X-H1 is one of best pieces of hardware ever made by Fuji. X-T2 was most robust X-T ever made.

Why do you own all three mate, that seems wild
Would love to see this proven…
I sold my one after 6 month,
The image quality of my old Sony RX1r was way better. I don't understand the hype.

Film simulation not fuji exclusive: darktable has ones. Lightroom i think also has. Nikon camera also has ones
Also, Fujifilm simply listens to the community and continues to build on that feedback.
Thinking of doing the same thing! From which camera did you switch?
I’ve just picked up my first Fujifilm camera, a mint X-E2 and love it. I plan to buy an X-T4 too and am gathering lenses (very reasonably priced second hand I’m finding), great video, you have a new subscriber 😉
You found a gem. Never selling my X-E2. Just picked up X-E1 as well. X-Trans II colors .. wonderful.
Yes I’m still using my D700 and a recently added D850…
So far as the ability to emulate film looks in camera, I’d rather edit my photos at home rather than miss shots because I’m deciding which filter I want when I should be shooting.
😂😂😂💩
For me it’s the film simulation and the vintage camera body designs create a nostalgic feel.
wow. you are a very nice channel find. straight, concise, direct to the point. to more subs for you!
Long overdue, I’ve been with fuji for years now and they’ve always been the best for creative/artistic folk.
Wanted to upgrade from my DSLR Nikon to a mirrorless; had the money available; love the retro look (incl dials!) of the new XT-5 and went for it.
Absolutely in love with it.
I think lot of people love ergonomics of it, vintage look is amazing, plus not everyone can afford a Leica, otherwise nobody would buy other cameras 🤗
Hardly everyone. Fujifilm's market share is growing but still only around 5% - 6%.
I think the design is the core reason. Also UA-camrs pumping fujis definitely have helped skyrocket the popularity, especially with the x100v
I acquired X-T1 almost brand new with 23 1.4 and damn i love it.
That's awesome! I might try and get my hands on an XT1 at some point! people speak very highly of the colours
Amazing images in the video! Congratulations!! Are them edited or just out of the cameras?
well said I sold my FF cameras and now its been three years and I am never going back (plus I love the APSC DOF it suits my needs as a documentary photographer)
Nice and informative, thanks! Still very happy with my XT-20 after a couple of years.
My first 2 digital cameras were Fuji and I loved their colour rendition, then they seemed to lose the plot for a few years so I migrated to Sony.

Because it's fun. And it's time we have some fun in photography

If anyone else offered anything close to the sooc jpegs from fuji i'd reconsider. I didn't even noticed, who cares
fast and to the point, great vidio!
Coz Fuji haven’t got stocks in the UK of Velvia and Provia film! Maybe it’s their sales aid to sell more digital?
Bottom line, weather your shooting on digital or film there
are more of us out picking up a camera instead of a smartphone and I thinks that’s a good thing.

Great informative video! 💯✨
I’ve been using Fuji for over 15 years and today it’s just more of a trend now. People don’t really have their own voice so they just use people’s statements and make it their “own” to adopt to the photography industry.
I got an X-T20. I've been on Fuji
Reliability issues with Fujifilm cameras and lenses are a major drawback and the reason why I switched to Leica.
My answer is…Fuji color science just speaks to the photographic reality of photons hitting a medium through glass. Their highlight protection behaves more like the documentary look of film.
Fuji is congruent with the legacy of photography in a way that stands out. If you want to participate in the heritage of photography, Fuji is the place to do it.

can you recommend one Fuji for a beginner?
fujifilm is very smart, they only have 2 choices if we want a cheap camera whose price is still reasonable they sell apsc if they want a professional camera they go straight to medium format
Everybody is a gross overstatement! I still use real Leica film gear! Fuji tried to make a Leica. It's not! Seen many copies, come and depart.
I guess it's lens availability, price, color, and size for me.
It makes a noise when focusing, Id describe it as louder than LM lenses but better than some earlier Fuji lenses. Shutter is almost silent
Don’t watch my next video! It’s why Leica 😂
@@Adrian-wd4rn the FD glass wasn’t electronic though was it? It’s the electronics aspect that gives them a shelf life. I wish Fuji put their glass in a manual focus lens. A set of manual focus f2 Fujicrons would be a dream for me.

Because Canon lenses are too expensive now days..im gonna buy a fujifilm next week.
Many people just look at the price of bodies and think well only a little more and I can go to full frame! Not realising often the big problem is as you say modern lenses from canon and sony are very expensive! XH2S and Sony A7iv were close contenders for me but the price of lenses was one reason I went with Fuji
The new 1.4 lenses.. 33 and 18 from Fuji are stunning. 33 1.4 is on my X-E2 right now.

Definitely a pain! The trick I’ve found here in the U.K. is to get in touch with all the small independents!
I got the XT-4 when it was relatively new and I've loved it ever since for both pictures and video. It really pulled me into its ecosystem, and with how they upgrade every iteration, I can see myself using them with better performance and quality as it continues.
❤
I love my XT2. It's a tank.
The community side is awesome!
One of the big advantages of fuji is the glas, smaller lighter and cheaper than most full frame stuff. With a really good quality for the price.
Yes! So many people get more value out of a smaller set up than they do an incremental performance increase!
Yes , but … :) I have Sony A7c and Fuji XE4 . Fuji with grip and 35mm VS A7c with 40mm f2.5 G is really close in size .while Sony body cost more , lenses are quite affordable and have aperture ring also.
Well, the 16-55 is as big if not bigger than many FF 24-70 f4 lenses. Other than that, yea they can typically be smaller.
Fuji is bigger than sony ff glass

Fuji is killing it on the marketing front and separated themselves with the film simulations. As a long time canon user, the thing that led me to them was the GFX 50s II. Hard to believe a medium format, weather sealed body with IBIS was less expensive than the R5. Unreal
canons are just prohibitively expensive like leica's unless youre a pro or rich. Had my eye on the R5 too but body + lens cost is too extreme
@@JL-vk1rs R6Mk2. 😁
Film simulations are amazing. It saves so much time not having to develop RAWs. I just shoot JPEG + raw and most times the JPEG is the one I keep.
Which camera are you using? Thank you!
@@enaeva_ Fuji X - T4.
As for me, when it's a picture I really like, I feel like I'll always have a better result working on the raw. Am I the only one?
Though I absolutely enjoy the many recipes.
I love editing a raw photo and tailoring it myself .
That being said I don’t have Fuji and fee their colors are nice and sometimes over bloated
Compact size, retro design, easy to use controls, zoom by turning the lens and mostly:
Natural, beautiful pictures, especially in people photography.
For a new camera, I would only consider Fujifilm again.
Sell it, as they're selling for far more than they're worth ... ;-)
Just say you can’t afford a Leica. It’s ok
@@joshpollack5936 Rather snarky bro.
Well I would not say that Fuji is on Leica level regarding the image quality but the X100V is a very capable range finder.
