Well, here we are. It seemed like just a few months back you were more than greatful you had about 65k subscribers. Now you are about to hit 1/2 million. You got to be one of the fastest growing channels on youtube. Came for the horse and packing stories, stayed for the wisdom and life lessons.
As a young man who never had a man in my life that was worth a fuck, I wish I could make you understand how much your wisdom helps. You're a great man.
I just had this very conversation with some people recently. The difference between enabling and compassion. One is out of love and the other merely disguised as love.
Eeeeek. The word “tough love”. Everyone tried to tell that’s what the head of my family did with me, your words “teach them how to be appreciative”… i did everything i was asked for my first car, and then some. The day i was supposed to get it, through sweat and work, the car was sold. Many other examples, but the tough love that i was taught screamed “everyone you ever loved will demand things from u, they will need you to succeed for their benefit, once you do, they end up doing what is better for them”. And from there i grew my trust issues. These videos keep me going. Thank you.
I’m 25 going on 26 years old, just engaged and buying our first home. You’ve been a big inspiration and source of knowledge for me and I just wanted to say I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this community to help build people up. Thank you!
Makes me happy seeing this man, I wish you a healthy and a prosperous marriage . I'll be 25 in a month been thinking a lot about finding me a compatible partner and settling down the coming years in a beautiful place . Best wishes man 🙏
@@Memento__Mori thank you bro! You can do it too man, your mate will come along when you least expect. Roughly 4 years ago I woulda laughed If you told me I’d be married and a homeowner by 30. Life really is what you make of it and there isn’t any barriers to what you can do when you put your mind and soul into it. Keep up the work man, you’ll be living your dream before you know it as long as you stay focused! 💪🙏
Sir, you are the kind of guy who I would love nothing more than to sit down and talk about life and just enjoy the world even if it feels like it’s falling apart
As a father of four boys, im glad there are good men out there like our friend Dwayne, people who are God fearing, hardworking and full of wisdom. It takes a village. God bless sir!
Good stuff! I was that baby, my dad wasn't around to raise me. I'm thankful for my mother, but the strong hand of a man is really needed to raise healthy people.
Yup I tell every father I meet to be in there child's life an a net positive influence on them because all of this as I point to myself don't happen in a healthy early childhood experience people who know me understand why I'm not someone children should aspire to be as polite and God fearing I may be I'm not healthy in important way that can't be fixed only eased.
I think paternal influence is overrated as a family stabilizer. If anything, most men I talk to were moe influenced by uncles, grandpas or trusted teachers rather than fathers. Also, I think society mystifies masculinity as some mandatory aesthetic without any function.
Agree with you 100%. You can try to show people the right path, but you can't walk down it and fight their battles for them. If you do that then all you do is make them weaker from it by robbing them of the struggle it takes to overcome hardship.
Dewayne, you and I are about the same age, give or take a few years. I just turned 54 a couple of days ago. 3 years ago l thought I had been through the fire and had it all figured out - US Marine, combat, seen things worse than any horror movie, PTSD. at that time I had overcame and was doing great and have been doing so for years. Then suddenly about 3 years ago my wife, the mother of our son, walks out suddenly, without a word, on both of us. Threw him and me for a loop. I worked with him & lovingly held his feet to the fire. He’s better, going to college like he always wanted to do. Thanks for your videos, the confirmation of others going through the same thing helps. Working on myself now again.
Thank you for talking about my journey with my son. We adopted him and spent many years trying to make him understand how to stand on his own two feet.
Form a young age I've always aspired to *be* around 'those with desirable characteristics.' I don't know where I picked that phrase up, but the idea was to reach old age with a wealth of experience and knowledge, eager to pass it on. Thank you, sir. Appreciate what you do.
Thank you Dewayne. I'm 22 and have felt pretty lost for a while now because honestly I'm definitely one of these babies that need to face life and walk it off. I forgive my parents for their shortcomings but understand that even though they're kind good honest people sometimes that gentle comfort isn't what one needs, it prevents the important lesson of struggling and proving your worth to yourself. I want to make a change and grow into the man I know I can be, and I know it's going to be tough but tough is just what I need. I'm gonna do it, even though right now it feels scary for me to suck it up and move on with my life I'm promising to myself that I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna get back up, and fail, and get back up again.
I hear you Santomar, I'm a 32 year old guy who lost his popsicle-giving mother to cancer nearly two years ago now, and I really relate to having been a baby craving to be picked up everytime I have fallen. Now I have to try and face the grief of my mothers death and the loss of the main popsicle provider in my life. It's been a rough two years but I have also felt that having that seemingly eternal motherly comfort being snatched from you is what is making the man in me starting to grow for real.
Thank you for your responses guys, hope ya'll are doing well. I've had my fair share of setbacks these last couple of months and won't bore with details and self-pity, but I finally got a job and feel like it will really help with accountability. It's not a great job, it's just a job and I'm taking it as such, an opportunity to exercise commitment. It's the first step to becoming consistent, just putting in the effort and showing up when you're supposed to and doing what you're supposed to, every day. I don't have much else to say other than for the first time I feel the need of putting my free time to use and build better habits, not just wait around and starie at my phone or following whatever flimsy impulse I have until it bores me. Time is all we have and I'm finally learning that, I won't lie down and wait for things to happen. So yeah. Thanks again for responding to my original comment, it actually meant a lot that you took the time to read what I wrote and share some words with me.
Just make sure if you fail, you dont stop. Recenter, analyze what/why/how things went wrong, find at least one solution and most importantly ACT. Failing to get back on the horse can lead you down the road of stagnation and eventually towards focusing on regrets and "what could have been", unless you nip it in the bud. You'll fail. Everyone does. It's part of being human, but what we do after failure that is often times more important than any success we could have achieved on that particular goal. Tenacity, or determination if you will, will take you further in life than most any skill or mindset out there.
I’m from a small town, and now I work in big corporate America. I learned invaluable lessons on the farm, but I never felt like I had someone wise enough in that setting to look up to. I am thankful to have finally found that person I can seek wisdom from. Thank you.
I found you when you had a few thousand subscribers. Gives me faith in humanity you have grown your channel like you have . I enjoy your videos with a cigar on a regular basis. Thanks
Dwayne, I appreciate you so much. Your philosophy supported by your faith has been a real blessing for me to find here on UA-cam. Thank you for all you do.
What a great message- thank you Dewayne! Our barn swallow babies were lined up on a romax wire one morning, ready to fledge. We'd watched the parents work tirelessly to feed and defend them for weeks and now looked forward to their moment of truth. The babies were reluctant. Ma and Pa swallow sidled next to them in what looked to be a Disney moment, then proceeded to peck the dog snot outta them until they flew away. Later I told my daughter the best thing I could do for her was to raise her knowing she'd be able to live without me. Love your wisdom and observations. Nature is indeed the best teacher!
I (in my mid 20s) still cannot know when to help someone or let them be. I have been through pain and sadness, I know the feeling. And you said it correctly, sometimes people just want to help to make themselves feel better. I know I am one of them. But when to stop I still can't figure that out
A lot of your videos about how to be a better man help me to be a better person. Thank you. This is like a chat I would have with my dad. Something I’m making a point of doing more these days. I’m going to send this one to a friend, I’m not willing to put a band aid on what he’s going through because I’m not going to enable my friends to be weak and say everything is okay when it’s not, but maybe he can find some new courage in what you have to say.
You are absolutely spot on with this one. Most parents are very guilty of it producing mentally weak adults. Courage is the right word, courage to stop picking the kids up when they fall.
I wish you would understand how much I needed this right now. Like always, thank you for your words of wisdom. All your videos teach me so much and make me think critically about myself and the people around me. God bless 🙏🏼

Dewayne, I don't know if you'll read this, but lord willing you will. I found your channel at a real low point. Through the video most folks (probably) know you from, "How to deal with loneliness" After I watched that, I took to watching some of your others, and it has helped me to find the motivation to get off my ass and make something of myself. I've been recommending your channel to everyone I can too, because you've made me rethink how I approach a lot of things in life. God bless you for doing this, and may you continue sharing your stories for years to come.
Going through something with a family member and this advice is so simple and straightforward that it's exactly what I needed to hear to help my family.❤ thank you so much.
I'm not a parent yet, but I've been beyond anxious about how I'm going to parent my babies, if I'm blessed with them. But I've learned so much about this topic from listening to you. Thank you, Sir!
I definitely needed kindness gentleness and support. Tough love in my opinion can be a form of emotional abuse. Not calling you abusive but tough love has never ever worked for me. It's made me feel horrible. It made me feel unloved, unwanted and now that I've grown, hated.
The perspective and insight you're able to provide is remarkable. Your videos always provide me with some clarity or chill me out when it's needed. Thank you for everything Dwayne 🙏

I believe in balance. And that every person's story is unique. I appreciate the tough love message -- I also think it is important to be open-minded and to consider differences and the complexity of the whole. Some lost people come from broken homes where there was no support for them, they had to be the support. They had to grow up too fast. For me, it all comes back to the rule of balance. I greatly appreciate all you share. ✌️❤️

Dewayne, I don't know if you'll read this, but lord willing you will.
I found your channel at a real low point. Through the video most folks (probably) know you from, "How to deal with loneliness"
After I watched that, I took to watching some of your others, and it has helped me to find the motivation to get off my ass and make something of myself. I've been recommending your channel to everyone I can too, because you've made me rethink how I approach a lot of things in life. God bless you for doing this, and may you continue sharing your stories for years to come.
You’re gonna hit 1 million subs this year sir, prepare yourself! 🙏🏼 thank you for the great content, it’s much needed!
It'll probably be about 4 million but it's worth every one these videos!!
Love your site! We're watching this one on TV now. Couldn't agree more, sometimes we get in God's way for HIM to work with someone...
Thanks!
Dan
Man so true! Facts Brother!

I'm not a parent yet, but I've been beyond anxious about how I'm going to parent my babies, if I'm blessed with them. But I've learned so much about this topic from listening to you. Thank you, Sir!
I listen to what you say. I take what's useful and yes you're helpful. Thank you. You're not wasting your breath. You are wise.
I definitely needed kindness gentleness and support. Tough love in my opinion can be a form of emotional abuse. Not calling you abusive but tough love has never ever worked for me. It's made me feel horrible. It made me feel unloved, unwanted and now that I've grown, hated.
Wise words, your messages come from a place of wisdom and caring. These messages need to be spread around and reflected on.
Much needed thank you!!!

"Love is love, but sometimes love needs to be tough love.
At times if it ain't tough love, it ain't love at all."

Just wanted to say thank you for making these videos. I cant express how many times your videos have kept me going. Thank you for the wisdom. God bless you and keep you.
✌️❤️
This Yankee needed to hear that. Great lesson.
