A new jury will still see that timestamped video on Paul's phone though, which is the key to the whole case because it completely unravels Murderdaugh's defense's timeline with the bullshit with the grandpa and changing cars and driving to Savannah, and changing clothes and sleeping on the couch and "losing" guns and all the rest. The state did a great job laying out the more accurate timeline, and they'll have no trouble doing that again.

Yet jury behavior and juror Z claiming she was influenced is an after thought. She did not come forward during the trial. In this case the judge must look at all the evidence. The jury is not evidence. The judge in effect by defacto must view it as a bench trial… and ask ‘could any other outcome have occurred without a jury?’

More importantly, she has tarnished the integrity of what most strive for in the court system. She comes across as having been schooled as to how to dance around the questions. She comes across as arrogant. And to many people…making “only” $100,000 off of that lousy book is a substantial amount of money. This isn’t even about Murdaugh in the big picture now. It’s about the integrity of the justice system! Murdaugh is a horrible person! Even horrible people deserve FAIR trials. ALL of this could have been avoided if this woman would have just done her job with integrity, kept her mouth shut and not gone on tv, not written a book.

The defense's motion for a new trial, which was denied by Judge Toal, was based upon allegations of jury tampering by Becky Hill. A big question in my mind, is this: Will Becky Hill now be charged with perjury for lying while under oath? To me, as I understand the law, she should be. But this is the Murdaugh case, and unsurprisingly, things have not been what they would seem to be, on more than one occasion. Would anyone here care to weigh in on this?
