  • Juror Z is the only person to testify that the guilty verdict in Alex Murdaugh's murder trial was influenced by Clerk of Court Becky Hill. However, in Murdaugh's evidentiary hearing for a new trial, Juror Z also said their verdict was influenced by other jurors.

      Really? That’s your concern? The court clerk tampered with the jury and then lied on the stand. Juror Z said she was swayed by the clerk and the jury, the judge purposely asked a leading question that she did not understand. He’ll get a new trial, it will just take a few years. They are clearly corrupt down there.

    Juror Z should be excused from serving on a jury ever again. She readily admits to being too easily influenced by other jurors, or clerks, or whichever way the wind blows. For our system to work, we need jurors who think critically and make up their own minds.

    I am not sure the "both ways" counts, either. If Becky Hill caused juror Z to decide unwillingly to convict, there would be no need for the other jurors to have convinced an "unsure" juror after the fact during deliberations. It was a timeline, and the jury in deliberation was the last people to influence someone who was still undecided. Becky Hill, as bad as she was, didn't walk into jury deliberations and push her to vote guilty.

    • @peace_lovemuzic5208

      🎯 I think Juror Z was more influenced by Poot and Grift, (💰) not by Becky Hill and ultimately that's what this trial was about. I don't even think she was influenced by the other Jurors. I think they came knocking on her door and either 1.) offered her something good to change her story or 2.) Threatened her with the power they can hold over her if she didn't. Both seem like such creepy slime balls to me. Especially Harpootlian. That being said, if Becky Hill was writing that book during the trial, and passing out media business cards and whatnot, I think she should be fired. That's not professional in any way. I just don't believe everything they tried to convince us of that she did. I did find her to be a liar though. I just don't think she tried to influence the jury.

The juror z didn't write / sign any statement /affidavit at the time that improper sunday . .......Her 2 statements were concocted by poot & another lawyer then presented to Z to sign . ON THE STAND actually testifying she had NOTHING to say really ''don't remember'' PERIOD........... other than yes she signed the 1st then 2ND rewritten poot papers ...........according to Z she thought becky thought alec guilty and WAS PRESSURED BY OTHER JURORS DURING DELIBERATION . UHHHHH yuh think she was pressured by POOT when he surprised her that sunday .....??????????????????????...... 'Z' was an unprotected victim of POOT ............ Defense lawyers should not be able to hunt down jurors AFTER A LOSS without some kind of ''referee '' to protect the juror from intimidation . THREATS , or promises ..............who knows ????????? Z 's actual testimony to justice toal was beyond NOT convincing ...... my take was she wasn't sure - thought everybody else believed alec guilty and was PRESSURED BY JURORS DURING DELIBERATION ie her decision wasn't made because of ANYTHING becky inferred -it was made and determined by the pressure by the jurors DURING DELIBERATION ....... just like she was pressured by poot ............ imo alone with poot & co was wayyyyyyyyyyy more pressure than this poor dummy could manage ALONE ...............

      @@cvolante8032, the real waste of money is the state's bringing the murder case against Alex Murdaugh ("AM") in the first place.
      AM is innocent OF THE MURDERS; the Prosecution knew it; that is why they asked Becky Hill to tamper with the jury to get a wrongful conviction and that is why they are now protecting Becky Hill no matter what wrongs she does.

What she did is criminal and her arrogant self needs to face jail time but at the very least removed from office. I have to ask how many other trials did she influence the outcome. How many other of her job duties did she cheat on. Yes...his attorneys are prob crooked as can be but it sickens me, as someone who works in the legal field and has served on a jury or two as well as a Grand Jury...I can't imagine any court staff speaking to me...they all kept their distance. Everyone is forgetting that his attorneys are not on trial here but lil miss Hill should be. The things she did and said were blatant and she did and said them rights under the courts nose with no fear of any repercussions which leads me to believe it's second nature and she knows she will not be held accountable so it's not her first time breaking the rules. Seems to me Juror Z might be one of these people that “believes anything” if they “hear it enough times”…much like a hypochondriac (a person comes to work feeling fine; someone says “are you ok you look like you feel bad”; several other people say the same thing or something similar; suddenly the person is ready to call 911 as they believe they’re about to die).
    Since the trial ended Z has heard over and over again about the defense team’s allegations of jury tampering so Z starts believing “hmm wait a minute yeah, oh yeah Ms Hill surely influenced my verdict…it must be true others seems to think so it must be true”. If she was influenced “in any way” (during the trial) WHY DID SHE NOT DO THE RIGHT THING AND MAKE IT KNOWN AT THAT TIME.

  • @lalaLAX219
    @lalaLAX219 8 місяців тому +7

    One angle I was hoping that the prosecutors would bring up is the fact that even if Becky Hill did make those statements, they were neutral and/or ambiguous. If Becky Hill thought AM was innocent, she still could have told the jurors to watch him closely. The fact that a juror *interpreted* her statements as being negative towards Alex Murdaugh does not mean her statements were actually prejudicial. This is no basis for a retrial considering people can interpret anything you say or do as being negative or positive regardless of your intent. Becky Hill could seem grumpy one morning because she forgot her cup of coffee and a juror could interpret that as her being negative towards the defense. People misunderstand each other’s intentions all the time.
    In summary, to me it is obvious that one juror’s vague interpretations of Becky Hill’s motivations are not enough for a new trial. Even if Becky Hill did tell the jurors to pay close attention or watch the defendant’s body language closely, that language is neutral enough for it to be a non factor in the outcome of the case. At best, the juror is saying she got a vague impression that Becky Hill may have thought AM was guilty. The impressions that a single juror got from reading into a single statement from the clerk of court is a ridiculous standard and opens up the door to throw away every conviction. Unless Becky Hill made specific statements with the intention of swaying the opinion of a juror or putting pressure on her to reach a decision, this should be thrown out.
    One more aside: I think this is an especially dangerous standard for jurors who are natural followers and easily influenced by others, as they are constantly looking to others for social cues and approval in their regular life. These kind of people (of which I suspect the juror is one) are so uninclined towards independent thought that they can’t help but unconsciously look to those around them for indicators on what they should be thinking. So inevitably, this kind of ingrained behavioral psychology to fit into a social group means these kind of jurors will be the Achilles’ heel of every conviction should this standard be adopted, because they can’t help but try to assign meaning and interpret the opinions of everyone they come in contact with so as to be influenced by it.

    Since I first heard the defense say that there were jurors who felt influenced by Hill, I wondered why none of those jurors said something at the time, why was it coming out months later? Now that we have heard what the jurors actually said, in court, I realize it was really one juror and one juror who seems really confused. Juror Z has said different things about her experiences as a juror, as far as being effected by fellow jurors and then effected by Hill. I don't know what juror Z's story is-is she just confused in general about things or was she effected by the defense being very interested in her and what she had to say? Or both.
