What part of NOS is explosive? The nitrogen or oxygen? Nitrous works because at a certain temperature the nitrogen and oxygen molecules separate, the oxygen is used to burn more fuel, the nitrogen is dumped out the exhaust. By itself nitrous is not flammable. The only explosive part is the fact that it is pressurized in the tank.
jake scott thing is oxygen will make any type of flammable fluid that is stable unstable in a way but it’s hard for me to explain and since nitrous adds more oxygen you need more fuel or it just lean out and and burn when it’s in an engine

It's a actually less energetic then the same weight of air and fuel mixed at the best mixture, the biggest then is it's denser then air and expands more so more power, fuel economy is horrid
Nitrous oxide isn't flammable but it's an oxygen donor so it will increase the rate of combustion of other burning materials by providing oxygen.
This is because at a certain temperature nitrous oxide separates into nitrogen and oxygen.
So in the engine it has an effect similar to a turbo - it increases compression and the amount of oxygen available to react with the fuel during combustion which translates into increased power per combustion stroke.

This is awesome, was thinking about trying this on my ATC200 (they make a kit) but wasn't sure it would honestly give enough of a shot to do much. have read that the kit is supposed to come with a drill bit to open in the main jet a little (may just order a slightly bigger jet instead) did yours come with anything other than what we saw in the video? i know you said you didn't receive instructions so just covering the bases. Can't knock a 1.5 hp bump on a 50 cc motor.

could the nitro be added with more graduation,like a super charger or turbo,though not kicking in hard like some turbos do,but a more measured application,for a throttle gauged input,ie more pedal more nitro and vise versa.y'see i have a triumph spitfire,with 1500cc fitted,but i have the short stroke 1300cc under my work bench,and a shorrock seper charger is a hard to find kit,but a good nitro set up,not quite mad max style,or lord humungous with the gate valve approach.If you have'nt seen mel gibson -madmax,then your lost on this point,neck breaking power surge,broken axles,whip lash.
I also have a two stroke scooter like the childs stand on type,but with a bicycle seat and a 32cc with centrofugal clutch...naaah!!.
Hey I got a gy6 qmb 139 it is ported out,upgraded 100cc out bore kit, upgraded big valve heads, upgraded cam shaft, with a 150cc carburetor on it it goes 60+. How would nitrous act on something like I got

your not getting 60 on a 100cc top end let's be real
You can disagree all you want but I got the proof on my moped
And it's not just a normal 100cc instead of normally hitting 7,500 rpms it hits 10,000 rpms
what diameter and type of carb what type of cam and what tooth count is your final drive gear
I just got mine.
In kitchens we use nitrous for whipped cream and stuff, you can put fuel in that and the nitrous will cause the fuel, the air, and the nitrous to go out at the same time, so therefore you wouldn't need to change timing.

How much does that kitchen nitros cost? I'd love to rig it up to my dirtbike for a laugh
@@gusrosevear5974 pretty cheap, just try to keep it on the DL, people will think you're doing whippets
Try to put on modern 150cc engine moped that have 12-15 hp. With nitrous maybe it goes 20hp. Same as modified 185cc engine that can go 200kmph.
Add nitrous on modified engine the 21 hp bike will have maybe 256 hp . With very light weight it can beat the 250

Nitrous isn't flammable it breaks down at like 500 ish degrees Fahrenheit and releases oxygen and nitrgoen which expands alot when its hot thus why it makes more hp more expansion of gases. Its basic chemistry you learn this crap in school
@@How2Wrench Also i never said the video sucked it was pretty hilarious watching him use nitrous on his scooter but saying nitrous oxide is flammable is just completely outrageous..... It just breaks down releases oxygen and some nitrogen which increase cylinder pressure resulting in higher hp numbers... but very ineffective and highly dangerous with 2 stroke engines as some of that nitrous and some extra fuel will burn in the exhaust (or stock muffler) possible causing a fire

You can, quite literally, spray nitrous into a 3600 degree flame and it'll extinguish it.
