Thank you for such a wonderful video on how to bind peaks and valleys! I just finished your City Girl Chevron quilt and wasn't sure how to bind it. Now I am confident I can get the binding on and finish my quilt! Your patterns are awesome and I learn so much from your videos!
Thank you so much for this video! I’m relatively new to quilting (and sewing in general) but I’m getting ready to bind with scalloped and points border. I will be using this tutorial. Subscribed and saved!
This worked like a dream. And your folded corner clipper binding connection is genius. I have always had trouble before, but using the corner clipper was a breeze!
Merci Krista ! So well explained video! I am going to try it on my Champagne and Pearls just after the quilting step. Thank you! Kisses from South of France 😊
Thank you for sharing this video ! I have a couple of quilts with angles like this, and I was stumped as to binding . This is so wonderful to see. Definitely going to do this
I love all the details Krista! As always this is very helpful, I really need to get a stiletto and avoid an accident.. Thanks for the new tutorial😁 I love the gold shimmery fabric.
I made this quilt top and I was wondering how to do the binding. I love this. I am going to try it. I know I'll have to watch this tutorial over and over again to get it right, but thats just me.
Great video! I got the City Girl Chevron mini kit, and I was concerned about doing that binding, because I had never tackled inside angles before. This really helps a lot!
Krista, this is an excellent video and very, very, very helpful! Thank you for sharing. Also, I love the star patten on the small quilt that you showed at the very beginning of the video. Could you share that, please?
Could you show us how you machine bind your quilts, especially how you topstitch the binding to the front? I’ve tried binding this way a couple of times, as well as other methods, but I’m not getting a nice finish on both sides of the quilt. I’m sure you have great binding tips! Thanks
I will tell you it takes a lot of practice Ann! I've probably bound a thousand quilts this way (not an exaggeration) and the first few were not that great. I pull the binding around until it just covers the first stitch line and I topstitch super close to the folded edge (like 2-3 thread widths). If you have smaller projects to practice on those are best and easiest to maneuver through you machine!
Thank you so much for this video. You make it look so easy but I've read that you said it takes a lot of practice to get it where it looks so nice. Guess I will be practicing a lot.lol
That was referring to the topstitching part. You will have no problem getting it to look good right away if you take a little time the first time through! I would suggest stitching it to the front of your quilt then rolling it to the back and hand stitching it down. If you want to stitch it to the back then roll it to the front and top stitch it to finish that will take a lot of practice, but it's worth it ;)
Very informative. I didn’t see any instruction to clip the inside corner 2/3’s in toward quarter inch mark on the PDF. That seems like a good idea. I’ll make a note of it. Thanks. :)
Could you tell me the fabrics that were used for the quilt you are demonstrating how to bind? I love the the white, silver, gold, gray and black combination
I'm embarrassed I deleted that because watching her it looks like a reguar straight cut on her strip, but anyway... I'm actually doing this right now (making my binding for the octagon quilt with a biased cut) and I will update here to let you all know how it went!
Hi Dottie! I just use regular straight grain binding... you really only need bias binding when binding curves. Because you are always on a straight edge with this zig-zag edge you can do it without bias.
Thanks for this helpful video! Do you have to cut your binding fabric in the bias for those inside corners to work out nicely? Or does it work well with straight-of-grain as well? Thank you!
I am no snob when it comes to gold! Hahaha! I have been known to use swim suit knit if it's the color I want... this one is the Windham metallic gold (100% cotton)
Lovely demonstration of how to set up the binding and stitch it on the back. I'd be interested if you have another video coming to show how you did the top stitching around the inside and outside angles to finish it off. Have you got one coming? Thank you. (If you have and I just missed you saying so please let me know, and my apologies for not listening closely enough!)
I wasn't planning on one, but maybe I'll have to add that to my video list! It's always helpful to see how someone does it... I will tell you it was practice, practice, practice to get it to look the way I wanted it, I just took my time and kept at it.

What a gorgeous design 😍 O...m...g

@@kristamoser Thank you!
Excellent tutorial. Thank you very much! I have a question. Is it possible to do a flanged binding using this method?
I don't see why that would be a problem! Just take your time and I think you'll be fine :)

Could you tell me the fabrics that were used for the quilt you are demonstrating how to bind? I love the the white, silver, gold, gray and black combination
I wish I could remember!! We did kits for those and it was like 18 different fabrics from all different brands.
Excellent tutorial, do you cut binding on bias or normal strips joined?
@@SewingandSuch thank you so much, about to give it a go

Dang. I missed the shimmery gold fabric. Already gone. I have the bundle. I'll figure out something! Will you be getting any more?
Yes! We just updated the shop to allow for pre-orders, more is on it's way :)
Krista Moser yay! Thanks!
@@kristamoser pre-ordered. Thank you!
Is this straight binding or bias binding?
It is just straight binding! You really only need bias binding when you are working with a curved edge.
Thanks for this helpful video! Do you have to cut your binding fabric in the bias for those inside corners to work out nicely? Or does it work well with straight-of-grain as well? Thank you!
It'll work just fine with straight of grain binding! You really only need bias when you have curved edges.
Krista Moser thanks! I wasn’t sure if that inner corner kind of functioned like a curve. Appreciate the info! Can’t wait to make this quilt!
Please, tell me what gold color fabric you use? 😉
I am no snob when it comes to gold! Hahaha! I have been known to use swim suit knit if it's the color I want... this one is the Windham metallic gold (100% cotton)
Is the binding bias?
It is not bias! The only time you need biased binding is when the edges are curved and these are straight even though they zig-zag.
