I am astonished by any of the “thumbs down.” As ever, Krista is fun, informative, and giving us a beautiful quilt pattern. What on earth is not to like?
There is nothing not to like about it except maybe they dont like a color in it but mostly rude, bored people just troll on here saying hurtful things. My mom always said if you have nothing nice to say say nothing and in the internet world it should be “just keep on scrolling if you dont like it” you dont need to express every thought you have ever had! I love it Krista
What a great pattern. I have your 60 degree diamond, and I have an over abundance of strips, so this will be a terrific way to use them. Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea.
Just discovering this! Krista, you are adorable, and so cheerful in this downtrodden period of time! Thank you for also being well put-together and easy to follow. I’m your newest subscriber and look forward to your videos, old and new.
I can’t wait to do this with some ombré fabric. Love your tutorials, and you share so many useful tips. I agree with the comments below. Thank you for providing clear, concise information without all the noise clutter.
I’ve just started this quilt project doing it in black, grey and white. I’m really struggling to get an accurate 8.5” width to the strip sets. Another issue is I’m only getting 7 triangles from the sets. After ripping apart the first set and doing some trial sewing I determined I needed a scant 1/4” seam to even get close to 8.5”. I am very excited to see the final outcome. Keep your fingers crossed for me that it all works out in the end.
You might check out a couple blogs I have done about an accurate 1/4" seam... I like to call it a functional 1/4" seam because it's the measured distance after sewing and pressing. Most machines do not have a functional 1/4" seam and so your piecing will be off (sometimes by quite a bit). A scant 1/4" seam is a dangerous term, because it can mean many different things. But if you work to figure out the correct needle position for your machines functional 1/4" you will have great results with all of the quilts you make!

I’m so excited to get started on this. I’m using teal, cream, Orange batik and van Goghs starry night! I do have one question though I did not see you sniff your corners when you just use the triangle instead of the diamond grid. You would still snip your corners right?
I love the gold metallic accent. Thank you for the great tips! I was looking around your online shop and I noticed that you just have one batting book left. Do you know when you’ll get more in stock? My mom and I both would like one. Thanks!
@@kristamoser Thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately, it will only let me put one in my cart. I'll keep an eye on it and when the new shipment comes in I'll order two. Thanks!
Okay if you are using fat quarters you will still want to do that angle cut at the end to get started... That'll be your best shot at getting four triangle cuts out of those shorter strip sets.
@@kristamoser Thank you, I figured I would get more triangles by cutting strips from the long side (21"), rather than the 18" side. I hope to get started on this quilt soon. Thank you!

I like the way you staggered your strips. I have someone who asked me to do a spinning star quilt for her bed. Couldn’t find the size I needed so I had to figure it out first. Would you suggest the same method of staggered strips for it? I cant remember the angle for my triangles off the top of my head, but would it be the same for any triangle?
Yes! I would suggest doing that trick even if it is a different angle for your star. It will save fabric and I have used it on a 45 degree angle project too. There are two different angles that are most popular for triangles... the 45 degree and the 60 degree. The 45 degree will be taller and narrower, while the 60 degree is the same measurement on all three sides.
Thanks for the suggestion. I am sewing the strips together now. When I cut them they will be 45 degree cuts. I’m using six 2 1/2” strips together, one cut will be 10” tall and the other 12”(after being sewn). Any suggestions on cutting them so they stay accurate? I used my largest square ruler and lined my longest rectangle ruler at the angle. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
@@wendycarter7620 If you don't have a 45 degree triangle ruler, what you are doing is the best method! If you have trouble with accuracy that way you may want to look for a large 45 degree triangle ruler.
