    Good job like always. Please show us how to make measurements when you encounter walls that are not plumb.

    Wonder if you could have flipped the gate latch… put the little catch on the swing part of the gate… this way you wouldn’t run into it at eye level…. Just a thought

    Nice work, might be worthwhile adding a bump stop to keep the gate from hitting the wall and chipping the paint.

    That came out amazing. My only question is. Could there have possibly been a different type of latch used? I ask because if it were my gate, me being over 6 ft tall that rod part of the latch is head level.

    What keeps the gate from not being lifted from the hinges the way it’s installed

  • @theweldingmachine

    So you aways use 16 gauge tubing for fence and gates

    I wonder if there is a way to keep the gate fixed to the house. Don’t want someone lifting that off and walking away with it.

    • @kennethstaszak9990
      @kennethstaszak9990 11 місяців тому

      The latch is designed to be used with a padlock. So keeping it locked won't allow the gate to be opened and lifted off.

    • @r6613
      @r6613 11 місяців тому

      I use these hinges they look really nice and my favorite to use they’re a bit tricky but the way to install them so they don’t just lift off is you need to place the bottom hinge with the bottom rotating piece welded to your post so it doesn’t fall off when you let it go , second is the top hinge you use the top rotating piece of the hinge welded also to the post , and now it’s not possible to remove the gate off from the hinge

    • @I000I
      @I000I 11 місяців тому

      You can weld third hinge but upside down. Or, if the gate opens no more than for 90°, you can weld or screw some stopper right above one of the the hinge. Either way it will be impossible to lift the gate from the hinges.

      I always use security shear off nuts which when installed correctly leave a dome shaped nut. Only way to remove it is by splitting it after a slit is made. If you get that wrong the bolt threads get wrecked so need a new weld on bolt bracket. All this faff because people steal!!
