Oh my goodness. You have this rare beauty in your dance. It is breath taking. Extensions, grace, such loveliness, musicality and that lyrical ability to convey emotions. You are truly one of the most beautiful Juliets.. Such a pity we can't watch you dance anymore. I will cherish this video and I hope they don't take it down.. Thank you for the upload.
Absolutely beautiful, I can see why you were chosen out of everyone in NYCB to perform that role. What an honor! You are always so complimentary of your partners. It shows so much about you and your character to always put them in the highest light. Thank you for sharing these with us!
You are truly one of my biggest inspirations in how to live a beautiful, elegant, poised, and fulfilled life. Thank you for sharing so much of it with us!
Thank you soooo much Katie!! You are one of my greatest inspirations! I am a late starter in ballet(I started at age 13), and you have helped me to begin to catch up with other girls my age. I went to Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s summer course this past year and was placed with girls my age! Thanks so much for helping me to get where I am now. I hope to meet you someday. It would be a dream come true. ❤️
I like how you point out that even at this level, no performance is 100% perfect. I think it may help less experienced performers to understand that while they may focus on any and all errors, the audience only sees a beautiful performance.
Awesome performance!!! And also, you may add new hilarious quotes to some t-shirts: 4:49 "if they go right it's the best feeling in the world" 4:56 "let's do some jumping for joy! because, you know our legs aren't tired yet" 6:29 "ok... I need a second wind from somewhere" 6:40 "still have to look like "oh! I'm having the time of my life!"" 7:15 "without fail, every time a bead of his sweat would drop right in the middle of my eyes... very romantic!" 7:22 "... and it was like "plink!" and then we had two kids" 8:47 "Don't fall off the balcony! because you'll ruin the ballet" (AHAHA)
Kathryn, you are literally the most charming human being... I never get sick of watching this because of how funny you are and you’re like “ooof not good. Turn out Katie. That would be nice... and then this was awesome if it went right but then this was like HOOEY because you’re dead and then run up the stairs, don’t fall, look out for the hole and don’t ruin the ballet then kiss for this many counts...” it’s hilarious and endearing and such a wonderful thing to share with aspiring dancers or people who never had the opportunity or talent to dance. Thank you for your grace and your love and your wonderful spirit. So thankful for you 🙏🏼💙
Oh this has made me so happy! Thank you Kathryn :) I don't think we realise how lucky we are to have such an experienced dancer sharing all of the information you do with us! hope you're doing well xx lots of love
Enjoyed Martins choreography and the way you two performed it. Like you mentioned the score definitely has the foreboding undertone but felt the dancing was light and joyful so I got lost in the happiness of Romeo and Juliet falling in love.
It makes me wonder if she'd ever be able to contact any of her old pas de deux partners to react with or talk about what they liked most about partner work and what they disliked the most!
I know it has been a minute since posting the video. I found you by accident and I am so glad I did. Thank you a million times over for sharing the beauty that is your dancing
Really beautiful!!! Your dancing is mesmerizing!!! Thank you so much for sharing everything with us!!!! (Auditioning for Boston Ballet SDP because of all you tips and encouragement!!!)
ive just been binge watching these videos. i had to stop ballet due to a knee injury and watching these just makes my heart flutter and take me back to the good days :))
I completely understand why you were cast as Juliet. Your talent was extrodinary as a new kid on the block. You're a Gifted Massive Talent, and the Best Teacher and Person. I am honored everytime I work with you in class or videos.❤
So glad we got to see this!! Thank you so much for sharing with commentary, what a wonderful memory it must be. Spectacular performance and how incredible to live a life where you are known for bringing such a genius piece of literature and choreography to life.
I usually hate hearing commentary with the dancing but this was delightful - a wonderful pleasure. I'm so glad I stumbled onto this (metaphorically, that is). Thank you!
At 4:00, Romeo's strength and conviction shows in the way he powerfully runs forward, a kind of snatching her away from her arranged destiny. Full youthful intention and freedom!
This is my favorite story ballet and I love this pas de deux. Your supple back is amazing - beautiful to watch. It is very interesting to hear where you said that you fell short of perfect technique. I would like to see more videos with commentary is available.
Ok, very noob question - How do you regain energy between the acts to keep going? I am very fascinated in the strength you must have to perform the whole ballet
Training that is intense and varied. Also rehearsals, diet, recovery, and willpower :) Edit: if you haven't worked for it beforehand, you can still get through it, but it will end up being sloppy :D
Finally! I've been waiting for this one so long! You are so beautiful and talented! I was wondering if you will make any Nutcracker related videos? Love you! 💕
You were really beautiful dancing that role, can't wait for you to post your commentaries on all the other variations, pdd, etc of you as Juliet now! Thanks again!
Wow you're amazing, you look so so effortless and great great emotions too!!! No wonder your portrayal was iconic to make New York Times!!! It was great acting AND dancing at the same time. and you're right... hard not to portray it as "tragic" since you're supposed to be living out Julie's life and no way is she clairvoyant.... one has to look blissfully ignorant but I guess sad that they have to hide their love. It was just perfect how nothing is overdone! So convincing as Juliet indeed. Shakespeare would be proud. and whoever choreographed the original first Romeo and Juliet to set this to ballet and music. he would probably think the portrayal is perfect too. 😊
Romeo and Juliet was the first ballet I ever saw, at Covent Garden... Your dancing is so beautiful to watch and I love the humour you put into your commentary, too.
That was beautiful, Katie. I could almost hear the play during the pas de deux. xxxxx Love to you, Eric and the pups from Martin, Gracie, Charlie and me xxxxx
Just wanted to say that I love waking up to your videos! Your voice is very soothing and for some reason it helps me to wake up as I go through my morning routine haha. I'm not a dancer but am really interested in ballet. Your commentary is so informative and entertaining! Thank you :)
Hi I just wanted to say that I love your channel and I’m starting ballet at 14 and your channel has really helped me get started and your channel inspired me to just go for what I’ve been interested in for such a long time so thank you so much!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!! I loved your performance and the choreography!!! As dancers we are so criticle of our performances but even the little 'faux pas' were still lovely.
I like the way you always give credit as a choreographer to Peter Martins, who chose you for so many wonderful roles. In the video I saw about why he was let go of the directorship of the ballet - you were properly respectful toward him and reiterated that your relationship was strictly professional. And now Katie, I have to critique something. You gave your message once and that was strong and effective. Then you said it again. And again. And again. And then mentioned rumors - all this is too much! It's much more effective if you tell us once. And once only. Avoid the temptation to repeat. I'm almost 70 and have performance experience and I do know what is effective. But you are truly charming, spontaneous, and uncommonly beautiful. Be grateful for your gifts!
This is so amazing..!! I especially love the artistry between you two. I can hardly take my eyes off from your performance. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Your commentary on the pas de deux is really excellent - but I always loved the magic, and you are making it real! You could coach this ballet, if another company did Peter's version, which may not happen.
This was so beautiful. I’ve been having a tough time with my mental health lately, and seeing that you uploaded made me smile for the first time in a few days❤️
OMG this was so magical... I'm not a dancer, but I'm a musician, and I've played first flute on the Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet twice. It's so gorgeous!!
The choreography to this ballet is so beautiful! It's absolutely stunning. I also liked watching this video after watching the Dance of the Nights because I can see the difference between Paris's Pas de Duex with Juliet and Romeo's Pas de Duex with Juliet :D
This was absolutely flawless, amazing. My attention was captured the whole time, and normally that's not the case(it's never the dancers fault, it's the just the fact that I have such a ridiculously short attention span) but this was just so magnificent and the choreography was so beautiful I just couldn't look away!
So fantastic, thank you for sharing! I LOVE hearing about the flubs and oopsies because I feel like I'm in on a special secret - I could never tell from the audience.
Beautiful Katie! Can you please make a video on a guide to SAB summer course auditions. Not just SAB but your advice for all auditions. Love your videos!
Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful...... absolutely speechless and inspired as always. I really love your commentaries thankyou xx Have a great Christmas xoxoxoxo
You're so welcome! As long as you're not asked to take this down (I really hope not)... I would LOVE to see more excerpts from the full length Romeo & Juliet! It's easy to see why this was the role you were most known for. You effortlessly embody Juliet's innocence, beauty, and lightness.
Omg so so beautiful. I’ve seen another version of Romeo and Juliet that I thought was sort of lacking. There just wasn’t much dancing or emotion in it. But this was stunning. Absolutely loved it. And always love the commentary :)
Study for my Shakespeare final or watch Katie dance? Watch Katie dance Shakespeare! 😃
Haha I love it!
Michaela Bauer Literally in the exact same boat right now. Which play are you doing?
Hannah Evans Hamlet, Richard II, Henry IV part I, and Much Ado About Nothing
Man I just kept getting shivers it was so good. You really captured her youthfulness. I can see why they kept putting you in this role.
I think my favourite part is at 5:46, its a quiet moment between you two that is just so precious
It's so very theatrical, inspired, truth and depth of character, lyrical, innocent, even gave her naiveté. Absolutely brilliant 👑🌟💝👍
Thank you for the upload.
veramentegina completely and utterly agree ❤️
Vera, you express things so beautifully. You are a writer.
Absolutely beautiful, I can see why you were chosen out of everyone in NYCB to perform that role. What an honor!
You are always so complimentary of your partners. It shows so much about you and your character to always put them in the highest light. Thank you for sharing these with us!
Thank you so much Shannon!
You are truly one of my biggest inspirations in how to live a beautiful, elegant, poised, and fulfilled life. Thank you for sharing so much of it with us!
Your commentaries are gold! "Flight of stairs, watch for the hole." I swear only performers get that. You were a beautiful Juliet!
That is so amazing Anna! I am so glad my videos have helped you! Keep going! Much love!

great comment Patricia

Isn't she just wonderful?
Beautiful and i would love to see the rest of the ballet
Thank you!
Amazing......just....amazing. I love you Kathryn!!
Thank you so much!
Kathryn Morgan you're very welcome!!!❤
The grace, and elegance while still playing a young girl is completely mesmerizing and truly a gift.
I love watching the commentaries because I like to hear the story.
Kathryn was a beautiful Juliette. She is so funny with her commentary. Her humourousness is one of the things I love about her.
Enjoyed Martins choreography and the way you two performed it. Like you mentioned the score definitely has the foreboding undertone but felt the dancing was light and joyful so I got lost in the happiness of Romeo and Juliet falling in love.

i love your commentary ❤️
I’m not even a dancer, but I love your videos with commentary. Always loved Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet
I know it has been a minute since posting the video. I found you by accident and I am so glad I did. Thank you a million times over for sharing the beauty that is your dancing
Lol! "Let's do some jumping for joy!!" 😂
Beautiful ballet Katherine!
Extraordinary. Definitely one of those roles you can tell someone was born to play.
Your fluidity of movement and youthful presence is just spellbinding
I think I can speak for a lot of people but.... Most DEFINITELY interested in the whole ballet! Love you Katie
I think I’ve watched this at least four times, I think it’s so calming to listen to the commentaries you do.
And I would be crying my eyes out if I were in that audience. Absolutely beautiful!
Really beautiful!!! Your dancing is mesmerizing!!! Thank you so much for sharing everything with us!!!! (Auditioning for Boston Ballet SDP because of all you tips and encouragement!!!)

To see your commentary and dancing of the whole ballet would be a dream come true!! You’re so inspirational Katie ❤️
So glad we got to see this!! Thank you so much for sharing with commentary, what a wonderful memory it must be. Spectacular performance and how incredible to live a life where you are known for bringing such a genius piece of literature and choreography to life.

It is so wonderful to hear commentary from the dancer! Wow, I just love listening to you describe being up there. I love it!
So stunning!! Everything about this role fits you like a glove...you are such a delicate, beautiful and believable Juliet 😍🌹
Absolutely exquisite! Cannot find the words to describe how beautiful this is!
I could start every morning watching you dance.
OH WOW. You say all those one armed things were hard but they were so beautiful and you both made them look so effortless and beautiful.
The way you move is breathtaking. You are so graceful...and such a great actor too!
This is my favorite story ballet and I love this pas de deux. Your supple back is amazing - beautiful to watch. It is very interesting to hear where you said that you fell short of perfect technique. I would like to see more videos with commentary is available.

So grateful I've stumbled across your channel. Absolutely loving it. You were a delightful Juliet, Kathryn.
Ugh you were such a star!!! Literally all us Balanchine students are so obsessed with you omg.
How did I only just find these? Marvellous! Thanks so much for these, Kathryn. Amazing to know what's going on in your mind.
I've waited for this video since the BEGGING OF TIME!!!! I love it!!!!

So just..amazingly beautiful...and such poise so early on in your career. Made my day.

When you are off of your leg do you talk through your teeth to your partner to tell them or do you just adjust yourself?
Please, show us the whole ballet with commentary. It's amazing!!!

Peter’s choreography is always so insane! You looked gorgeous, I wish I’d be as beautiful as you when I dance haha
PLEEEEASE put the full video! I never get tired of watching you dance xD
Wow... You are the most amazing Juliet. Beautifull. Beyond words...
Definitely interested in the entire video!!

I love your commentaries!
This was beautiful!!! Your career may have been cut short, but you KILLED it! Absolutely stunning!
I LOVED this! I think my favorite of the excerpts you have posted.
Kathryn I love you you’ve helped me so much to improve my technique

Speechless. I really don't have words. Perfection!
Aww thank you Kelly!
You're so welcome! As long as you're not asked to take this down (I really hope not)... I would LOVE to see more excerpts from the full length Romeo & Juliet! It's easy to see why this was the role you were most known for. You effortlessly embody Juliet's innocence, beauty, and lightness.
