This is so interesting. I'm not a dancer, but I find a ballet dancers life so intriguing. Seems like a lot of stress for such a young person, but I'm sure its worth it in the end.
That was an amazing story, to come off an injury and still have your ability acknowledged, and how modest of you to keep the apprenticeship under wraps! I'm not sure many people would be able to keep it in at sixteen-ish!
I have to say, I have no relationship with ballet but my dancer friends have made me very interested. I was always wondering how the transition from company dancer to professional happens because not many people talk about it. It's really nice to see someone talking clearly about it!
Thanks for sharing your success story! The journey is not as straightforward as some ppl might think. What a splendid secret to keep until it was time to reveal! It calls to mind a favourite quote: “I have grown to love secrecy. It seems to be the one thing that can make modern life mysterious or marvelous to us. The commonest thing is delightful if only one hides it.” -The Picture of Dorian Grey Btw, I am from Stamford; it’s where my parents settled when they arrived in the United States. I didn’t know SAB sent dancers to CT to perform. :)
It's so crazy! I actually work with Tabitha at Apple, have for several years now, and I had no idea she was at NYCB. She's always been such a sweetheart. Such a small world!
I LOVED this! Thank you so much for sharing! I never lived anywhere near a ballet studio as a child or teenager, but I'm an adult beginner now which I'm forever grateful for. I love all of your videos, and you're always so encouraging. Thank you Kathryn!
Please please please do more once upon a pointe videos from your time at NYCB!! I love them . You inspire me so much and I am continuously motivated by you! I also appreciate your addressing body image in ballet. It’s something I personally struggle with and you have helped me so much!
Loved this! Please keep making more videos about your experiences in New York. Tabitha Rinko-Gay was in my class at the School of American Ballet in Houston when we were 10 years old. 😉
I danced with Mireille Hassenboehler of Houston Ballet when I was 8-9 years old in Nutcracker. Simon Ball too, he played the Cavalier. My director of the school was Melinda Roy, who performed at NYCB in the late 70s and early 80s.
I love hearing about different dancers stories, and love that you started a story series. It's super inspiring. Also your hair is absolutely adorableeee💞
Love love you Kathie you are such an extraordinary person and artist! I watch everything you do because you are so articulate and such a great storyteller!
These videos need to continue! I loved hearing this story. I love hearing about all your stories about when you were at SAB and NYCB 😂💕 You're absolutely amazing, Katie! You're the number one youtube channel I go to when I need tips, hacks, anything! Have you done a video about how to overcome injury? I recently hurt my ankle, and going on pointe hurts. I try not to overwork, but I really want to get good at pointe work! Got any tips?
I love your Storytime with Katie! Now please tell us why you’ve not returned to NYCB. You were very much admired when you were dancing for them. I’m enjoying your channel more and more. Keep up your excellent work!
Hi Katie, Thanks for the video. I'd love to hear more about how your family adapted to your ballet life. I know you have mentioned that your mother moved up with you to NYC while your father continued to work. That level of support is just amazing! Have you known any dancers who didn't have the sort of support network you had? How did that impact their experiences? If you were planning your own ballet school what resources would you make available to your students that might not have existed for you? Thank you for sharing your stories!
I really enjoy watching your videos. You're a wonderful teacher. Appreciate your hard work. Please have a wonderful day. Thank you very much indeed. Cheers
Sometime, could you talk dealing with ankle pain? I have had several ankle injurys (and two surgerys) and I would love to hear your advice! (This might be better for a vlog channel q&a)
Love this new series! I find it so interesting to hear about your experiences as a dancer. I just started dancing ballet in an adult beginners class! I absolutely love it, such a fun way to exercise.
Katie, this is surely of great interest to many many dancers, and your story is so engaging, sweet and funny. Thanks for sharing it and best wishes keeping others and yourself inspired by the dancing life!
Hey Katie! I would love to see a video explaining the first day of learning a new ballet and how long does it all take to come together, how many minutes do you learn a day, etc. thanks!
New hash tag Katietimes Simple... To the point. The pictures are just amazing from workshop , my student looked fabulous in 4 tsp as well , I laughed so hard when you said may Leon award sorry so funny 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 💜💚💜💚💜💚💜
Interesting story! Did you ever have moments in your life where you didn't want to be a ballet dancer, either because you decided you wanted to be a doctor, or a hairdresser etc. or because it was too stressful or too much pressure or whatever?
Once upon a pointe!
This is a great hashtag idea
i made the likes 300 and now my perfectionist self is satisfied ✨
This is so interesting. I'm not a dancer, but I find a ballet dancers life so intriguing. Seems like a lot of stress for such a young person, but I'm sure its worth it in the end.

I'm loving the curls, very pretty.

Can you do a video about your years at SAB?
Who knew SAB had such a great amount of humor?
I have to say, I have no relationship with ballet but my dancer friends have made me very interested. I was always wondering how the transition from company dancer to professional happens because not many people talk about it. It's really nice to see someone talking clearly about it!
Love ugh sorry my bad I meant from "student" (I guess I could call it that) to professional

I wish there was a college that accepted ppl who wanna start ballet late and you can basically learn the basic and intermediate stuff.
I really love this types of videos where you just sit down and talk about your experiences. Love you!❤
Thank you!
Please please please do more once upon a pointe videos from your time at NYCB!! I love them . You inspire me so much and I am continuously motivated by you! I also appreciate your addressing body image in ballet. It’s something I personally struggle with and you have helped me so much!

I would love to hear the next story!!!! Love you and your channel Katie. You have helped me so much over the years, xoxo
How did you manage high school and high-level ballet?
DM-audioswaps probably homeschooled, online school or personal toutor/teacher
sab students go to local high schools that allow them to take class in the morning then release them for ballet after classes
DM-audioswaps they have special courses in NY for people who have complicated schedules like hers
She talked about it in her videos about her time being at SAB. She did online school but there are other options available.
I love these kinds of videos!
