"hello! just pay attention to the tutu. the white swan wasn't as mean." dead 😂💀
Virginsuicde 😂😂😂😂😂
vaniteen this happens when men don‘t care about women‘s dresses 👗 😂🤷🏻♀️
Will someone explain the “tutu” comment please???
Kathryn dances absolutely amazing despite the challenges , just total pro with such fluidity and artistry!
@@gpopov777 It's a snarky reminder to the Prince that duh, Odile (black swan) wears a black tutu, whereas Odette (white swan) = white tutu. He's so enamored by Odile that he thinks she's Odette even though the swans are conveniently color-coded for easy identification! And that's a guy for you. ;)
"not my best dancing" Still owns the eff out of it and looks badass doing it.
Well, your "not my best dancing" is still waaayyy better than I could possibly even dream of doing .....
Yes! You were amazing! I would love to do odile when I'm in a company and I could never do this good😍
I have been sick for 4 years, (muscle disease and dysautonomia)I danced all through high school struggling immensely throughout my junior and senior year. After my last season ended and my disease progressed I stopped doing pretty much everything. After watching you dance with your disease I started taking some dance classes at my city's rec center. I just want to thank you for giving my the courage to dance again. You're an inspiration
"Just a little heads up there dude"😂😂Katie I love these commentary ballet videos because you are so funny and I get to watch your beautiful technique
Same
Your port de bras is to die for Katie, definitely an iconic part of your artistry. Love these videos! xx
Ali Maddison totally agree. 100%.
Yes! Have you done a port se bras video? If not then you should really one
Ali Maddison i know
“If you just paid attention to the tutu, Hello!” New T-shirt!!
Love how you flirt with the prince! XD
Chalesa Gowanit I
Your fouettés were absolutely beautiful, so smooth and delicate! I really liked how you went into a manège too.
Kathryn's upper body is so smooth and expressive you'd hardly believe she was a NYCB dancer... I much prefer the Russian version for Odile's solo, the music is so sinister and... 'Odilish'?
Alexandra .Martins Odilian, perhaps?
when you watch back on these videos how do you feel? Do you feel nostalgic? Or ever wish you were still able to do this and perform each night?
Very curious to know :)
"dont you dare to touch me but oh yes yeah now you can touch me" crying 😂
I. Love. Your. Attitude.
Your acting .... The sass and mischief in your eyes. It's perfect!!
I agree with you 110% about Odile, it is about flirting and deceiving Sigfried, not just putting on some b*tch face. And the more connected with Rothbart the better!
Loved this video and I actually prefer the Russian version of Black Swan - it's the first one I knew, before the "American" one. Your dancing is beautiful and I admire you so much for going out there and just dealing with what you had and making such a gorgeous performance out of it. Your artistry and musicality are magnificent, sick day or not.
Mimi Rambles I grew up with this version. But actually this music was never used by Petipa in the original production, but the "American" one.
Mimi Rambles , I agree! I love the Russian variation and the music.
Oh really! I didn't know that. It's funny how even classical ballets can vary so much in terms of the music that is used. La Bayadère has four acts in some versions and only three in others. So interesting.
Yes! I knew Russian first, but I look better doing the other one, so I prefer that one for myself!
HE LOOK S LIKE HE'S FLYING IN HIS SOLO
LIKE HE MAKES IT LOOK SO EASY
This is my preferred Black Swan variation; the music is so beautiful (and I also learned it off of UA-cam! XD). Yay! You nailed it!
I absolutely love these videos with your commentary. Please make more of these! This was a stunning performance, Katie!
really love what you said about your fouette turns! You just do the best you can, nice and tidy. Sometimes we are just too busy chasing all those crazy fancy steps...
Even if it wasn't your best dancing, you did your best, and absolutely owned it. Besides, if I see someone dancing even 1% better than me, I'm just like "this is perfect I can't even why can't I dance this good"
Also, this is also a big inspiration to me. Just seeing someone who had a big illness and had disenigrating muscles and all of that stuff, but still pulling off a very hard variation is just fantastic. Great job :)
I appreciate you being honest about the mistakes or the improvements you could have done. Humbleness is such a gold virtue in the world of dance. Bravo!
I like how you talked about the emotion of Odile - it's definitely being lost by many dancers particularly in guesting performances where its just the pdd. Your emotion and presentation of Odile is absolutely stunning. And as you say often, its better to keep technique clean and crisp than going overboard with tricky things and that definitely shows here. Loved it.
I love your channel and I love these vids to!!! Thank you so much for your hard work! (I already admire you alot so keep up that good work) 🖒❤
Because when your muscles are disintegrating you do what you can do ... Kathryn, you are a real inspiration and your candor and determination and spirit make you the extraordinary artist that we see, but most importantly, you make the world a better place because you give all of us who are struggling the strength to keep going. Thank you!
Loved it as always. It's so amazing that you could dance so well when you were sick. Bravo, Katie!!
You really become the character! Your 'not best dancing' is so pretty and eye flattering so it makes me wonder what is your best dancing like. I loooove your russian/european variation. To be honest I prefer it over all others. I'm curious which dancers did you look at on youtube to prepare for it? Also a question for Odille's mimicing Odette - in order to become the character I have heard two versions of mental preparation, so to speak - one is you mimic the white swan to fool the Prince and the other is you are mocking her. Which one do you think is better? Oh, and Seth's a la seconde's are amazing!
Kathryn, I'm sorry about your illness, I also have hormonal fatigue, but I gotta say, your loss has been the world's gain. Your channel gives premium info and insight into the world of ballet. Thank you, from all your viewers I'm sure, from the bottom of our hearts
"My fouettes are over!"
That cracked me up so much. I love these videos and the dancing is so beautiful!
This is my favorite swan. I’ve seen a lot . 💕🌷
YAAAAS QUEEN! I've been waiting for this one!!!!
I love that you talked about focusing your dancing on the prince! Such a great point! Beautiful technique/artistry as always!
You’re definitely an inspiration to a late starting ballerina like me! You’re such a wonderful role model and I appreciate all of the beginners classes you upload! ❤️
Been waiting for this 😍😍😍 I absolutely love watching these type of videos
Katy, you danced the black swan just as perfect as the white swan♥
and you are one of my favourite ballet dancers. You have such emotion when you dance. You are incredible!! ♥
If you just paid attention to the tutu.... you made my day!
I got goosebumps throughout this! Mesmerising
So beautiful to watch.....the artistry in your arms/wrists/hands are just exquisite!
Love this! So fun to see your performance and listen to your commentary! Thanks for sharing this with us!
I've just gone from watching all your vlogs on your other channel and it's so weird because I almost forget that you can do all this amazing ballet!! So beautiful to watch!!
This is amazing! I love your commentary! "Hi Caroline!" Lol!
I'm seeing this in July and I love to know the storyline! Thank you so much, your dancing is beautiful x
Aw i love your guidance throughout the piece and u did so well
lovely! its so fun to see you dance and to hear how the steps apply to the story. thanks, Katie!
I can definitely feel Odile’s attitude and sassiness!
Oh my goodness. I love how you portray Odile. **
This is probably my favorite one from you so far!
YEEEEEEEEES I was waiting so long for this!!! Thank you!!!
This is exquisite! Your acting is so exceptional and your dancing has such a unique flair here.
I got lured in to a lot of black swan pieces this morning down the youtube rabbit hole, and I can appreciate so many types of dancer and interpretations. I know hypothyroidism can lead to lack of muscle tone as you mentioned, but I think your softer phase here works wonders for your beauty and femininity, something I can't say about some of the principals I've been watching. You look graceful, fluid, royal, effortless and alluring!
I agree with the too audience friendy part. I love your acting in this!
I love these commentary videos!!
This was incredible Katie! Loved watching it!
thanks Katie, you danced beautifully!!!!!! such a natural talent
You are such a great actress! Your characters are always so real
It’s interesting to watch you dance Odile because based on what we know about you in your videos, this is like the opposite of how you are in real life but you play her so well 😃
I know you were sick when you danced to this but you did an amazing job! Yes I saw some of the issues you were saying before you mention them in the video but if the thyroid issues were taking issue like that and you were still able to get through swan lake and as the black swan you are a trooper!
She is wonderful!!!
Best Birthday present I could ask for is this long awaited video XD xxx
This was Fun to watch I really enjoyed it❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing!! Love your videos!
Just wanted to let you know that I'm addicted to your videos. I danced when I was younger, but gave it up, because, to be honest, I just wasn't all that good, but I still adore watching it.
I have just discovered your channel and love all the videos.I admire you, your technique is wonderful
This is invaluable. I never thought I wanted to know what a ballet dancer is thinking while performing. I wish you weren't so hard on yourself. You are exquisite.
I was so caught off guard when she said “hi Caroline” I answered back😂
You're such an amazing dancer!! Love you!!
You are amazing Katy!!!!
you played an AMAZING black swan!!!
Yayayyayayya im so excited
4:39 I grew up watching the 2005 ABT filmed version with Gillian Murphy and she went on the upstage side of him as you did here!
I love your commentary
Passionate. Wonderfully beautiful! 👏👏👏
This was gorgeous! I would never guess you were sick! I especially love the way you bouree and use your upper body!
Katy you were brilliant! If you hadn’t said you were poorly, no one would have known!!
You are the best!!!!!
I love your ballet commentary vids!! Any tips on getting into your best ballet shape
I love this kind of videos, you are perfect, i wish i could dance like you!
Beautiful, Katie! I loved that you just did the Russian version in a snap off You Tube. Haha...
She has such strong feet and legs!
you are right, your fouettés looks so good and beautiful 😍😍😍😍
I love your videos! Youre such an inspiring example for me. btw I' m also doing ballet
Beautiful fouettés. Despite it could use more power and speed, it's very nice to watch. Joyful to the audiences.
Even if it wasn't your best, that was still stunning :D I loved every bit of it!
Love this video!
oh my god you are absolutely beautiful to watch and such an inspiring figure, thank you so much for sharing this!!!!!!! love these commentary videos:))))
Katie that was amazing!!!! Also the Russian version of that variation is my favourite
I love how she always says she was sick but always looks so pretty. Dude, i wish i danced like that😂 i cant even do a proper pas de chaus
Hi Kathryn, could you do a video with tips for guys on how to be a good partner. Love you videos!!
That was beautiful! I strive to be like you!
Awe man these are so cool! I really want to be in swan lake when I get older and I’d like to be the Black Swan I’m already practicing my 32 spins
WOW, georgeus!!!
I know nothing about ballet but I do enjoy these vids
I really enjoyed your critique! I’m a musician who accompanied professional folk dancers, and there are a few similarities, from musicians and dancers😂
so graceful
YOU ARE SUCH AN AMAZING DANCER WOW
How you're feeling "yay, it's done" just as Odile is feeling "success, I have captured his heart" is great. Re fouettés - I actually, one day, really really want to see a black swan with 32 perfectly performed, identical single fouettés. I think that the doubles and triples sort of mess it up. It's meant to be sorcery and magic and enchantment, and a repetitive movement feels like a repetitive, hynoptic chant that I think would work perfectly with the story and the music and so on. If only a choreographer would agree with me...! Loved the single fouettés is what I'm saying. A+ piqué málange as well. Anyway this was super interesting, thank you for sharing. :)
that was gorgeous!
You did amazing in this part
You are an amazing dancer, even on your "off" days, even when you were really sick.
OMG I'm doing that black swan variation as well, also learning it off of YT for Thunderstruck!
Your fouettes looked beautiful! I love you so much
Wait "not [your] best dancing?" do you have any idea what I'd give to be able to dance like you do in this video? I'm really impressed with your level of dancing because if this isn't your best performance, I can't even imagine how you are at your best! I'm really happy your thyroid is better (as someone who suffers from hypothyroidism since birth I know how it is) and these dancing commentaries series are some of your best videos! Lots of love from Colombia
