- How to program Dorman Keyless Entry Remotes for select GM models.
In this video, we walk you through the simple steps required to program a Dorman key fob to a compatible General Motors vehicle. This quick and easy process takes just minutes with the included OBDII port scan tool. We recommend reading all instructions prior to attempting programming.
Please note that the vehicle must already be equipped with keyless entry and have at least one key already programmed to the vehicle. If you do not have an existing key fob, you will first have to have a new fob programmed with a separate scan tool.
The instructions in this video apply to the following Dorman keyless entry remote part numbers:

I got the Dorman 99161 for my 2013 GMC sierra and it worked perfectly. I was able to program 4 key fobs…while waiting for the programmer to beep i got the Low Battery thing on the truck. Finally it beeped and I removed it….remotes work like a charm.
How did you exactly remove the low battery?
Programer will not light or chime when i plug it in
Mine is not chiming or blinking how long does it take for it to make a sound when plugged into the obd2
will the 99154 correctly operate my remote start feature on my 2012 gmc acadia? i read where some aftermarket keyless remotes have problems with remote start working.
I need this to program my yukon but can I use it with otjer key fobs and othjer vehicles too ?
I purchased the Dorman 13732, and although it didn't light up/chime the first time inserted, the second time trying I realized it wasn't pushed in far enough and it worked. However, I've noticed two subsequent issues...
1. The range was a dismal 10-15 feet, kinda defeating the purpose of why I needed it.
2. The car dash informational display now presents the following upon each startup "KEY FOB BATT LOW"
- So, I replaced the original battery with a new Duracell CR2032 in the hopes that perhaps it had been sitting in a warehouse for a while and lost charge to no avail.
Has anyone had a similar experience & have a solution?

Will this key fob work on a 2010 Chevy cobalt?
I am always getting a battery low in fob. Even after replacing.

I have a question. My 2012 Silverado 1500 uses 99162 and says it is not for a lost fob and that you must have a working fob to use this. The directions make no mention of my existing fob. I’m assuming i program this one first then additional ones after but don’t want to waist a cycle to find out. Or make my existing one inoperable. Am I missing something?

I purchased one of these for 2006 Chevy hhr and tried it.
Apparently it’s not working I followed all your directions and watched the video before ever trying to do this and still wouldn’t work.
Is there something that I’m not doing right?

Programmer worked great but had a hard time plugging it in and taking it out
Why only three uses?
Good morning,
We limit these to 3 uses so people are not tempted to keep them. If you plug the programmer into a vehicle it's not intended to be used with, it can damage modules and other electrical components. By limiting them to 3 uses, it reduces the risk of that happening
