I programmed two more of mine over a year ago and it works fine, then put it away, today I tried them, none of them work? I dropped the original one and lost the battery, so I took the battery off the one I programmed a year ago to my old remote just to lock my vehicle. So why did the memory program one forget its memory?

I just went through this key fob programming myself for my recently acquired '03 Yukon and it was super simple. I'm glad to know I can use this new FOB, since I just replaced my older style ones. IT works well, but doesn't look as cool as the '14+ style. Thanks for putting this up!

Plus Tax....came to about $47.95 But, I didn't Have a Working FOB , So I just Had to wait till I had Enough " Extra " Money on My Bank Account, just Ordered it.... It should be Here, June 12th.- 21. I am really looking Forward to Programming it , and I will be able to Lock- Unlock the Doors, with the Fob. The Factory Alarm System...
Has Exterior Lights, and lights under the 2- mirrors,
And the SUV Horn Honks...
No other Bells and Whistles.
I do wonder if the Ignition is Disabled with the FOB/ alarm system...that was installed by the Factory...?
I will find out if it has a " " Panic " -- car find - feature, as well... Another issue is , I have 2- Door Actuators that are Tired Out, Not Working Anymore....I always Have to Manually Slide the Interior Lock....or Use the Key on the Outside....( First I will have to buy the Correct Actuators...for the correct Doors, then Take the Interior Trim Off the Door to Remove and Replace the Actuators.....NOT SOMETHING I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO....

I got mine today and programed it for my 1999 chevy silverado, I've been playing with like a kid. I keep setting off the alarm, when I bought the truck it didn't have the key fob
You can disable the panic by opening fob and put a piece of tape between the button and the electrical contact. They are way to sensitive

Thinking about it criminals probably do appreciate non chipped keys cause it's %1000 times easier to steal "from what I've been told" an once they have a stolen vehicle they probably go whip up a bunch of cookies with it.
Imagine living in a shithole where getting your vehicle stolen is a legitimate concern. My truck sits in my driveway unlocked with the keys in it, never even worry.

When programing your new key fob, is that just specifically for that fob you are using in the video or any fob will work??
that is the procedure to program a fob to your gm vehicle regardless of the fob style
not sure the year range but this is the way to program for my 2003 trailblazer as well

I just wanted to add that this fob is from 2015 trucks, not 2014. Also it will work on the same era Suburban, Yukon, Escalade, and of course Tahoe. Check out my link to the Boost Auto Parts site for the exact year range and fob.

I did some research and when I pulled it up on Amazon it would saying it fits your vehicle or not! I think they ask for vehicle information!

@2:20 the astro my family has, has a chip in the key? Sooo?? Would this work for a 2000 Chevrolet astro van? Oh and the only 'downside' I see to this is that the fob is bigger than the original one, and all those items add up in your pocket. However i do like the feeling of having something like that in my pockets but the newer switch blade kind of keys on newer vehicles are better? In my opinion because they are usually more compact and even the newer fobs with keyless entry, push button start etc.

I ordered a key fob off EBAY for my 1995 GMC SIERRA. ($15+ -). The video instructions worked great. My fob programmed with the UNLOCK button...it would not do anything pressing both LOCK and UNLOCK at the same time. Thanks😎

Boosted89GT no vids sadly but there’s pics on the Tahoe Yukon forum and I believe the gm fullsize forum as well just look up nnbs shifter in nbs it’s pretty much a direct bolt in you just have to solder in your old connector

So I installed a viper remote start on my 98 Chevy if I ordered a fob like that with only lock unlock and remote start do you think it would still work? Instead of the viper key fob?!?! Lmk what u think plz!!!
It should, but I would give boost a call just to be sure.
@@lsxmatt more than likely, it won't. Viper would like you to only use their fobs, and would love their huge amount of money they charge for replacement ones.

Got a Pair of the Same Ones at Walmart for 50 Bucks, their 42 Bucks Each at Boost Auto.
The boost one has a different chip in it to work with these older trucks. Unless you’re using it for a newer one, those won’t work for this generation.

ah... you know that anyone can take a screen shot of that key you have just been waving around... and instantly copy it.... and HAVE your vehicle ...or if secret kill switched.... anything on the inside of it REAL EASY. Especially making sure that everyone knows that its NOT chipped.

Check your local Chevy dealer before going to amazon for that key. My key was $8 for a actual Chevy key and they also cut it for me

You need to check those rear axle seals and Bearings man my cousin had to do it twice on his I’m about to do my first very common on these trucks hard to spot until it’s to late

I bought like new 2012 Silverado from the auction and got same old ugly key you had. I fooking hate it. As for the fob, the previous owner disconnected the GM security/remote system and installed Viper which I don't like bcoz the remote start don't work properly.
Should I go back to old system and keep the viper? Some people told me that viper is better.
My problem with viper is the remote start + I only got 1 fob, and they go for $290+ if I need to get a second one.
I can't believe I somehow got your video recommended to me! My '02 yukon key fob hasn't been "working" for basically as long as I can remember (at least 10 years, maybe more). I've been trying to figure out what was wrong with it, but the only thing I could think of was a dead battery, and the battery is fine. I guess it just got de-paired or something. I'm super excited try this out because it's really inconvenient having to turn the key every time to unlock the car, especially when it sets off the alarm.

Yeah ... nah - I don't think so. I'm not spending $50 and up gor a key fob when I can get one for under $10 on Amazon. I don't really card what it looks like since it's either in my pocket most or hanging from the ignition.
Looks nice! Unfortunately it doesn’t have even half the range of the factory remotes. If you have auto start stick with the stock ones.
This procedure will only work on chevrolet and on the factory alarm..If you already got a aftermartket alarm you cannot program your new key fob.

I have a question. My key fob says cool start on it. Don't think I have a factory remote start it may be an aftermarket. 1 of my key fobs doesn't work and the 2nd one works intermittently. Can I use the one in this video to replace what I have now?

But when I checked my spare key, it isn’t working I changed the battery, cleaned in side . Still it doesn’t work. I try to program it but no results..Brother.. what do you advise, and is there anything I am missing..!?

The key has to be the correct mechanical cut to turn the lock cylinder but the "RFID" chip is in the body of the remote. A Body Control Module receives the input signal in the RF, Passenger side add on to decode. If the key is in the ignition switch that triggers a "Key In". The body controls module sees the door open @ close, it will make a tone, plus opens the door to prevent lock out. This prevents a service call. Same with replacing key fobs battery. It remembers. A EEPROM stores the signal code. It will hold up to five RKE codes. Add 6, it bumps the first code from the factory. This doesn't have to be same days or other time limits.

@@krewkab5451 Only our fobs will program - they have special electronics so if you bought fobs on eBay then they wouldn't program. If you bought our fobs and run into any issues please reach out!
Does this key fob have better distance for locking and unlocking?
Well I got the key fob from this video. It's fallen apart in less than a few months. Buttons almost indistinguishable, "chrome" plating falling off. Also, boostautoparts its such a scammy site with fake review system. Also Also, if you have a 2011-2014 truck you have to READ THE FAQ to find out you have to pay someone to reprogram the key fob costing more than the fob itself. Shame on me for trusting this video or boostautoparts. Don't believe me? Go to the website and try and leave them a review. Or just look at all their products and notice that all the reviews on every product are 4.5 or higher. Or just click and drag the "review star break down" showing all the 5,4,3,2,1 star reviews. It's just a static image.
Wrong.....`99 was the first year the keys were chipped for the Chevy full size trucks & SUVs. The Z71s were the exception! Z71s dont even have a glove box light.... for whatever odd reason the two stupidest difference GM made for the Z71.
I either have a defective automobile or I'm defective... I can only have one key fob program apparently to this vehicle... I bought the new one and programmed it and as soon as I program that one my other one doesn't work... I then program the other one and then the new one doesn't work... So apparently as soon as I program one, it erases the other one... I tried programing them both at the same time and as stated, as soon as I program the first one and try to program the second one the second one overtakes the first one and cancels it out... Oh well, I guess I'll just use the new one and if it craps out, I'll just program one of the old ones.

That fob is ugly. I bet it smashes all over clamshell while driving and it's annoying as fuck. If a company was going to go through the trouble of mimicking a factory remote, why not integrate the key and the fob into one piece, like a lexus

The "chip" is just a resistor. Old first gen GM security keys have one of approximately 8 different resistors. There's actually stories of techs working on the wrong cars because of this.
My truck uses a basic key I'm not sure if it even has a alarm system any idea were to look for it I have gmc sierra 2000 SLE by has no electric power windows or electric doors locks any idea how to even begin programing.

This only works for cars older than 2011 otherwise you need a OBD2 programmer to plug in into the port to learn fobs .. Thanks

Has anyone had troubles doing this? When I cycle the key to get my truck into program mode. My truck automatically cycles the lock again and the horn honks like it exited programming mode.

The newer style are just as pieces of junk as the old style the print wears off the buttons and the entire front of button face is rubberized going have to replace mine on my 14 Silverado soon the rubber is breaking away
