      Ford didn't invent the automobile, he devised a system to efficiently assemble automobiles known as the assembly line (a system that works for all manner of complex devices).
      Ford had to deal with a patent troll (George B. Selden), but courts ruled against the troll then, and the market opened for development and innovation.

    • @tim3172
      @tim3172 2 місяці тому

      You realize that the Benz *PATENT* Motorwagon was called the *PATENT* motorwagon for a reason, no?
      Ford invented neither of the things you mentioned.
      He received a patent for a motor carriage, which was overturned because... it was already patented by Daimler internationally.
      The assembly line was Ransom Olds (...Oldsmobile...) who created and patented the assembly line in 1901.

    I did my first build a few months ago.
    I chose air cooling over water cooling, largely because I'm new and didn't want to overcomplicate things.
    But as soon as I installed the tower cooler I kinda wondered if AIOs weren't a similar level or less complex.
    like obviously air cooling is simpler than water cooling if you're talking about a custom loop, but I don't see how mounting a radiator and fans in a place you were probably already installing fans would be more difficult, and I also had some issues with daisy chaining and fitting case fans with cooler fans with a large aluminum block taking up space. (I used a Peerless assassin because of reviews, probably a could have gotten away with a smaller single tower, but figured if I got something more substantial it would be better if I upgraded CPU).
    Idk, I definitely made things a bit harder on myself due to being new, installing things in a not so optimal order, and buying a larger cooler, but I really fail to see how screwing down some aluminum and having more space to work within the case would have made things any more complicated.

    • @JonathanSias
      @JonathanSias 2 місяці тому +2

      So, there's more to go wrong with an AIO solution. Is pretty simply and smooth today, but especially in the past, there were major quality control issues and design flaws that worked fine in some orientations or for a time, but would fail after a while. You really needed to know your stuff to prevent things like pump cavitation, fluid loss, or worst, fluid leaking on your PC. Even when things worked, coolers would degrade over time, and if you didn't know better your system would overheat or throttle, but so gradually some people wouldn't notice till it was catastrophic.
      In short, people with air coolers have had to clean off dust and maybe repaste every couple years, maybe change a fan. People with AIOs have had all that and the added possibilities of pump cavitation, pump failure, liquid gunk forming, fluid loss, tubing degradation, even radiator failure.
      Modern AIOs are pretty good, but there's nothing wrong with an air cooler! 😁

    • @pptemplar5840
      @pptemplar5840 2 місяці тому +1

      @@JonathanSias I meant specifically for ease of building/installation.
      But yeah, less points of catastrophic failure is something that anyone should consider.

You never miss a beat and are one of the few creators who don’t recycle and repeat old stuff just to make a video. Keep up the great work and I hope you and your family have a great 2024. Man if the new Zen CPU’s are near 40% faster than last generation this will most definitely bring the bar up on low end CPU’s. I’m still shocked even for Intel the 12600K is faster than all i9’s from previous generations. My main gripe about AMD CPU’s now is how they don’t offer a variant of Intel’s QuickSync for encode/decode. Intels IGPU may not be great for gaming but content creation / video editing they rock. Maybe one day we’ll get something similar.

    Is there really a selling point for ray tracing at 1080p? The 4070 Super isn’t really a high frame rate 1440p or 4K card, so it would really be a 1080p focused (especially when you consider it’s only 12 GB). Just wondering…

    There's nothing wrong with nvidia control center. It's easy to use... can't wait for them to hide 50% of the options to "streamline" it.
    That being said, GFE has always sucked and should have been put to pasture before it was even released.

    I actually have no clue what Thermaltake is doing. The Tower 300 isn't available anywhere in canada. They probably don't know what they are doing either.

    Me: gets a shiny new MSI Ventus x2 OC 4070 SUPER
    (Watches Paul's Tech News)
    I literally opened up my case and just checked having just put in a corsair-made x2 8 to 12 cable to replace the janky adapter setup... it appears at least MSi's new cards are using them having shined a light to see the engraving.

    Indeed, Joe and Paul's complementary senses of humor enhance the other, to the point that either alone feels incomplete. -Joe, are you pro-pineapple on pizza? My man!-
    8:00 and 11:19 had me laughing. Thanks, gents. Have a good week.

    Intel getting smart to split things up if they want to take contracts from other companies to make chips, since that was their plan all along, keep everything in house, no outsourcing.

    The Intel thing might be really cool. If anyone in the world might match TSMC it is Intel fabs and may be an overall better direction for the company. Excited to see where this might lead.
