Today I got the same noise while doing test drive my truck after valve adjustment. I told my mechanic about noise. He brought the truck back to the shop. Removed top engine cover. Found that exhaust cylinder 3 valves too loose. And he did compress test by sending air into engine. The air was coming out of exhaust pipe. Means truck loosing power. He said bad cylinder head. Investigated price. Original one is $7500, reman is $3500 plus labour. It was really sad. Just fixed some issues that costed me $7400. Now this issue came out.
Yes sir my truck was making same noise 2019 with 650k miles, did tune up and noise went away but that mechanic told me to start saving for a new head . It last exactly 4 months this and 50k miles later same noise only at cold temp. So now truck in shop getting a new head since last week.

We have this problem constantly in Australia.. valve recedes into the cylinder head and closes up your valve clearances.. had a few cases where it snaps the outside of the valve off a causes piston/liner damage... Better get the head off 👌
These heads/valves have a wear issue. I had one come in with this noise, did a tune up and 20k miles later noise is coming back. Either valve or head wears in causing clearing to go away and eventually causing some combustion gases to escae which makes that puffing noise
This sound came in on 700k now 850k still driving, I’ll keep u guys posted
How’s your truck? I just got the same issue happened to me two days ago I’m scared to drive it down to the shop from where I’m located. Is this issue is one I can drive 90 miles to a shop

but what about compression in this cylinder?? and you have misfire ?
@@martybadlands8851 sold at 927k cylinder 6 no pressure but was driving ok, the mechanic said that this could be injector but I decided don’t do anything at this mileage and just sold it
I had the same problem in 12/2021
I went to the shop and they open the valve cover
They asked me when i did the last valve adjustment because everything is tight on the intake valves. My valves was adjusted 180k mi ago.
They readjust everything, cost me $475. The truck has way more power, turbo it’s more responsive, the engine it’s not noise anymore.
I need to see how long will least. Some guys on forums saying the noise came back after 20k mi.
Did you have that noise too? And did it ever come back?
@@sonicboy7229 the sound came back, i left the truck for a head change, the noise came back even stronger. 2017 cascadia - 5200$ head plus labor and parts…9k

You never know, go and adjust the valves if you don’t have the money to replace the head. It’s a temporary fix. This valve adjustment/ overhead helped me for another 25k miles. I saved my money and when the sound came back i went straight to the shop and I replaced the head. One or two valves were adjusted to the maximum, so the valve seat was very used. Now with a new head I have over 120k miles and no problem.
@Xman i have no idea. Depends if you change the crank or not, if it’s an inframe or not… new injectors or not so idk… at least 20k easy

Hi Francisco I have a question, hopping you can answer it please, I have a 2011 cascadia DD15 truck was running perfect, than one day turn on truck and truck when off in like 2-3 seconds after I started, codes are all 6 inyectors, Cyl 123456 inyector 4 on all ?! Please if you can help me with some info I like to fix it my self if I can, I'm in Colorado. Thanks in advance for your time and help if you can

Mr Amaya I have a 2012 cascades and I notice some bubbles coming out of the 4 inch hose that is on the left side of the i gone it is mounted on a block with 4 bolts is that normal
It’s on the left side of the engine comes from the air to air
I am having the same issue with my DD15. When I first start up the engine in the morning, it'll do that hissing noise but once its warmed up, it goes away. I have been told that my valves need to be adjusted.

@@shomi5032 jarane , i kod mene evo sad , prvo se culo tako jedno 2 godine dok nije krenuo napolje da pusi tu kod tih cjevi koje idu u deklo , kao da je dihtung izmedju intejka i bloka , cekam 6am da otvore shop

I'm thinking either a bad valve seat or worn intake spring. Could even be intake valve clearance is out of spec.
Thats exactly what it is they tighten the bolts to tight i had this issue

Mine is doing this after I had 2 injectors replaced and they adjusted my valves. So they just over tightened? Do I need them readjusted or is it more like replacing the head?

Francisco please help! I have codes
SPN 5246 FMI 0, SPN 5246 FMI 15, SPN 5246 FMI 16, after I didn't change inlet nox sensor on time. I putnew sensor in, but red stop and check engine light are still on and truck derated to 5mph. Regen after regen doesn't help. Sensor temperatures working normal, regens successful but I can't get rid of lights and derate. Please help
Those are derate codes. Ther should be a cause why those code don't go away but there is not on those you send me. Contact me on Instagram so you can send me more details
@@franciscoamayaYT thank you Francisco for replying. I was getting ready to pull my hairs out and even shop didn't know what to do. They were getting ready to tear the whole truck apart.
Just before I let them do it, I found a short in battery bank.
I fixed the short and cored were gone. Freaking short, can you believe it?
I could've spent thousands if I didn't catch it on time

@@shomi5032 ill try to explain not too much of a mechanic but in my case the openings where my valves sit had to be cnc milled to spec again, luckily i was coved under warranty

@@israelaviles5513 Something was wrong with the ECM making injectors malfunction. Got a new ECM. Problem fixed. Also yours could be a bad programming, if it's been deleted....
