I bought this bass around a year ago. I own 6 other basses. Only one plays as well as this one. The sound is great. There are 3 things a player should consider when buying this bass: 1. - The bass is not cheap, so make sure you play one (or one very similar) before buying. 2. - There is an issue with leaving the active/passive switch engaged. Even when unplugged, it will drain the battery when left in the active position. I've gone through more batteries than hindsight would allow. 3. - The string port on the bridge for the low B is not very large. I recently restrung the bass with a set containing a low B at a 130 gauge (very standard gauge) and had to pull the string through the bridge port, which scraped some of the winding off the string and left it sounding extremely dull.
It is true about the 2nd point. There is a drain issue in this bass. The batteries die so fast. Every 4-6 week at most I need to replace the batteries, while for other basses batteries could last at least 3 months.
I wanted the Mocha Burst livery, but couldn't wait for Fender to regenerate their stock. I went with the Ultra Burst. Nonetheless, I love the bass and is now my go to for everything. I actually play in passive vs active mode normally; albeit, I use a SansAmp preamp DI to link into my FOH support at church. The SansAmp is a cheat code IMHO.

Sounds Good JD. I just bought this one on Monday🎉
Sounds great 👍🏻
Good review Jim!!!
Nice demonstration
" Makes ya thirsty!" Getting a Starbucks Mocha Cookie Crumble right now! LOL!
Hi J.D. Love the review, is this the replacement for the American Elite? And what's the weight like? Thanks.
Sorry boys......she's on her way to Canada. I'll give her a good home.
I want this bass so bad... Or should say need this bass asap.
Excellent review you have demonstrated all different types of styles to play the bass great job

Jim, what are you running that bass through? Is it that Berg behind you?
And Grasshopper video bombed 😂
Nice! What about price in your country?
Do you ship basses to Chile?
Nice demo but you barely played the b string. That's what many would be curious about with the Fender V.
Is this bass still available?
I just bought 1 last month and it's incredible!
Only complaint is the anodized Pickguard feels like a chalk board, I'll be changing it to a plastic 1
why is slapping and playing long strings of 16 notes always considered the best way to demo a bass?
Cry some more.
I know the bass is good quality In sounds but this guy doesn’t play good stuff 🤣
