I just bought this bass, I’m waiting for it to arrive. I own a Kingston z5 and I love it. I can’t wait to play this, it has more of that classic jazz tone that I’m looking for but better yet it still has that distinct MTD tone that cuts through but sits in the mix perfectly, these basses sit in the mix just like a P bass does.. that’s a very hard quality to find in a bass, even some boutique basses

I wanted the Mocha Burst livery, but couldn't wait for Fender to regenerate their stock. I went with the Ultra Burst. Nonetheless, I love the bass and is now my go to for everything. I actually play in passive vs active mode normally; albeit, I use a SansAmp preamp DI to link into my FOH support at church. The SansAmp is a cheat code IMHO.

I bought this bass around a year ago. I own 6 other basses. Only one plays as well as this one. The sound is great. There are 3 things a player should consider when buying this bass: 1. - The bass is not cheap, so make sure you play one (or one very similar) before buying. 2. - There is an issue with leaving the active/passive switch engaged. Even when unplugged, it will drain the battery when left in the active position. I've gone through more batteries than hindsight would allow. 3. - The string port on the bridge for the low B is not very large. I recently restrung the bass with a set containing a low B at a 130 gauge (very standard gauge) and had to pull the string through the bridge port, which scraped some of the winding off the string and left it sounding extremely dull.

This bass cost is double 'of the spector euro 5lx..but its sounds like the average spector euro lx 5 bass.. However the craftsmanship is superior of the euro lx 5. I own 4 spector euro 5lx.. And 1 spector rebop lx5 .amazing well built great sounding basses..they are built like a rolls royce car..excellent craftsmanship however lousy resale value.

It looks and sounds good to me.

Just got a NG-3 four string. It took a whole 15 min of playing to get used to the multi-scale fanned fret setup. It's easy to go back and forth between this and a "regular" bass so don't let the multi-scale scare you from getting one of these. Dingwalls are truly badass.
