Thats It - this Bass player convinced me - I'm buying a Fender Jazz Bass in 2020 !!! Happy Holidays & Thanks for making me start the New Year with another Bill to be Paid !!! - Great Demo fellas.
@@moose5206 I really want: white with rosewood neck, but I will play several & choose the one with the Best Playability. I recently played 7 Suhr's. I wanted white or black, & left with a Tobacco-Burst with Lollar Vintage Dirty Blonde's = Phenomenal Sounding Guitar.
Fender have done something really special with the ultra basses. I know they have to reinvent the brand from year to year but this time they really have made their basses even better if that was possible
better? how? they literally removed string through option which distinguishes(almost) USA made Fenders from the rest, and they removed trussrod wheel from Elite & they used the same preamp as Elite. "even better", how?
I'm impressed with the tone. If the build quality is as good, they've got a winner. Shouldn't have to go to Japan for a good jazz bass. Cheers to Fender
When they hit the chord change 0:25, it kind of reminded of "So Into You" by Atlanta Rhythm Section. Maybe I just wanted it to sound like that, because I've always liked the song.
Now we are (bass) talking ! Very great guys, so lovely... so groovy. Love it. Of course I have a GREAT respect for Nathan, a musician I'd like to meet one day, it is always impressive to see those lovely guys in real life. Huge huge respect for them since the '80s. Great bass review as always I should say. Cheers.
That black jazz bass with the gold ano pickguard and black binding... So awesome looking. Never been much of a jazz bass fan, but DANG that is a hot lookin bass.
I got the blue jazz Ultra for Christmas. I’m not a super skilled bass player by any stretch but it’s quite lovely for home recording. I had been hinting around for a basic Yamaha bass because I was sick of using keyboard bass for songs. Then that thing showed up on Black Friday. Holy balls I’m loving it. All DI - no bass amp. Remember guitar players: a bass guitar is NOT a 6 string. So don’t play it like one. 😀
SO Fender you are going to take away ay string through option, my neck adjustment wheel (which should have been added in 1984 ) and my ebony fretboard and tell me this is upgrade ?
yes. I've owned the elite and ultra. The Ultras are better. String through makes zero tonal difference and the adjustment wheel was not as good as Sadowsky and Music Man.
I'll stick with my Elite P Bass thanks. Its string through body, truss rod adjustment wheel and Macassar Ebony fingerboard make it a better bass. Also they have the same pre amp. No brainer.
I also have an elite P but recently got an Ultra Jazz Bass. Very similar but I prefer the bridge on the Ultra. Its a High Mass bridge while my Elite P has a cheapo vintage style Bridge. Although I like the string thru design. They changed the truss wheel because of alot of user complaints. I never had an issue and I like it but its not a big deal either way. I rarely adjust the truss rod. Maybe twice a year due to humidity.
I want the ultra, but I love how they have a passive tone , it sux the elite does not have that feature. It's nice to go passive, especially if you are doing a recording session and the engineer wants a passive bass, im an active kinda guy but the option is nice,
I just sold my Fender 19' Jazz 5 for an Ernie Ball and I'm never looking back. I've been rather disappointed by Fender's recent items. I personally feel that they lack the quality their competition provides. The case was not closing properly upon arrival and Fender had to send me a new one - within a month of playing, I had to replace the jack, and Fender didn't offer to fix it although I saw it as a factory defect - the 9v ejector on the back kept getting caught on something internally. The list goes on with other minor grievances and small annoyances, but I wouldn't have expected as many of them from a brand new, two thousand plus dollar bass.
It would be awesome to see some of the Fender V strings demo'd and actually discussed. Hearing a snippet of the high end of the neck on a bass that features extra LOW range doesn't quite touch upon it's full value and capabilities! Aside from that, this is killer!
I’ve had a 2006 MIM active J Bass with the same controls as the new Ultra for several years. I think I paid $500 in 2010 for it. I just bought a new American Pro Series II J bass. I couldn’t wait to compare it to my Mexican bass. They sounded essentially the same. I know the new one is passive but still don’t know wether to be happy or sad. I was excited to buy a serious bass since I’ve never paid more than $500-600 for a bass and expected a big improvement in sound. I can return the new one to Fender. Haven’t decided yet. Trying to justify paying $1800 for a new bass that sounds the same as my old bass. I know, nice problem to have.
Maybe it's just me because I've not heard any difference in tone between the Ultra and Elite....oh well ..nice pocket playing though.. I did enjoy that..
Man what a sweet jam, quick question for Nathan and Lee. What basses / rigs / pedals do you both own and use? I know we saw Lee's Genz-Benz cab a while back.
la basse noire (noir/marron/réglisse légèrement pailleté) de droite avec le pickguard "doré" est exactement identique (couleurs) que la version JB DeLuxe Montego dans les années 2000/2010 et elle existait aussi en version PB...
Music Man usually gets all the praise for their finishes... but honestly, these new Fender finishes are way better in my opinion. Music Man's are a little over the top and too sparkly. These new Fenders just seem to glow and have great little subtleties in the flaking when under stage lighting. They're just amazing to look at - and don't sound too bad either.
Love the black ultra jazz, but why can't it come with the Rosewood board ? My preference anyway. Seems Fender want to limit their sales . May just go for a MARUSZCZYK and can spec to what you want for less money . 💰

Two grand. Sorry, I'll leave this for the pros and the wealthy. Well, I suppose that's who they are for, anyway. Great playing, great video. I love the ensemble!
better than a V9. a V10, and now the super dog P10 smokes them all, including MusicMan with their roasted necks.... A 1600 dollar Sire bass is about a 4000 Dollar US bass.
Am I the only bass player who hate everything that isn't a passive 4 string? The only features of these that I DO like is the heel joint and high mass bridge
The addition of other musicians and especially live acoustic drums is very refreshing
Agree!
I love love love Love LOVE these recent jams where you guys have a whole band to showcase the bass.

Completely different presentation style and as equally enjoyable to watch.
