I am a creator and moving back home is a dream come true, i am on my third year building a gas station ⛽️ with shops and restaurant in Sierra Leone , I am 90% done. I do not want to die in the USA 🇺🇸 or Europe, I came to USA and Europe to hustle . Going back with my education and tools to give back is my individual reparation . If you don’t mind me asking but why did you move to the States? This question from an AA craving to touch my feet on the land of my ancestors, on theWest African continent somewhere….mainly Nigeria which is the highest percentage of my West African DNA reflects my ancestry. Just wondering why move here? I’m assuming it is for predominantly educational, and economic reasons? I just want to know if those are still the predominant reasons or is it to avoid something political? Sorry for the questions…just curious.

It’s all about the mindset. Recently I heard someone say “the grass will always look greener on the other side until you start watering the side you’re on” - this hit home
Africans are working their butts off in the diaspora with little or nothing to show for it. I think it’s time we move back home and build the continent. We are Africans. Africa is our home 🏡 🇳🇬❤️

Most of the time, people in the diaspora don't have anything to show because of the sheer number of people depending on them back in Africa. They support parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, all these people's pastors, the car rental driver that you unfortunately gave your number to years ago when you visited home, etc., etc. Paying rent, school fees, monthly maintenance monies, spending monies for all these people.
It's a lot!! But, on the upside, you get a huge amount of prayers heaped on your head everyday. You know how Africans can pray!!!

Everything this man said is 100% correct. Avoid old friends, avoid high school friends, because the ones that have come to me are nothing but what they can get from me. Family is another big obstacle and should be put aside as much as possible.

Phrankleen, I have to say, that your guest in this video have my utmost respect. Some people wouldn't understand because of sentiments. Your family is your biggest downfall once they know you are abroad.
Nigeria has become a country when you earn high, you tend to be able to go into businesses that can let you live comfortably.
The problem usually is that, majority of people in Nigeria only think about enjoyment when the get money. That's why the people who have the legit money are the serious minded ones.
I'm making plans to leave Nigeria temporarily to build myself up financially and return to Nigeria, but I can assure you, I'm going to an African country.
Nigeria is great for a lot of businesses but you just have to be serious and get it right with the right type of funding.
So Phrankleen, thank you for this. And tell your guest speaker that he has my top level respect.

I have been saying this is the best thing we born in the U.S. Should do. Especially if your parents own land. I feel like I am suffering in America when I can go and live in my father's village. This brother is RIGHT. We can live way BETTER in Nigeria than living hand to mouth in the states. I always tell my relatives, don't bother trying to come to America. It is a nightmare. You will struggle here more than in Naija. I'd rather be a village woman than corporate America. Village people eat better and are healthier and are mentally and culturally inclined. Respect to those who have left. This is something I want to do.

    • @alvanalvino
      @alvanalvino 2 роки тому +1

I liked that idea too. I have lands as big as a western city in the village complete with a jungle ecosystem, rivers, wild animals like elephants etc roam there. But how much would one need to live there? It’s not an African city you know? It’s a culture shock if you bring a woman with you or a child from the west. It’s all wild life and average buildings and roads. The village is nothing like Lagos island where I was born in, it’s got the greatest potential and mosquitoes though. That is my worry. I love nature but the politics of the rural areas scare me.

Its true what our brother is saying. Just do your due diligence work with trusted land companies and not family members. Buy the time you go back your assets would have appreciated in value. Have like 12months rent ready and don't go there splashing, build and allow your business to grow. If you need capital you have access to that using one of your plots for security.

How did this young man gain so much wisdom especially given he was born in America? He is dropping some gems, networking is something I am going to do. Even before going home you can network via platform like LinkedIn.
Moving in silence is equally important, when you go you mission or business is first, nobody in you family or friends circle need to know you have landed, when you finish your business or mission you can decide to drop in on family and don't feel obligated to give them any money. Still don't reveal you business in Nigeria or date of departure make them believe you will come again the next week, when you plan flying out the next day.

This is a great discussion and I am one of the people who still believe Nigeria will one day be a greater country. To be honest it is not as easy as this guest just puts it. What works for him may not rightly work for others . Some of us as well had tried couple of businesses and still trying hoping for breakthrough. D challengez are enormous, It is not as easy as ABC to cut off family and friends cos they re broke. D fact is he was born in the US so he never understood what old friends really means cos American society is an individualism society but Nigeria is not.kids abroad don't even care about their parents but we do a lot in African culture so if this guy has been raised in Nigeria before traveling abroad his conclusion might not have been that so easy to cut off everyone as easy as mentioned here. U will surely care about Nepa if ur biz will requires electricity, so many things u will consider for biz growth n profit maximizing.
Some times a broke friend may actually add an expensive idea or support to your plans or definitely need them at one point or the other but will only caution as we deal wt people in our country. It is a good thing for us to build n return home and make our Continent better that part I agree and I hope it happens soon in our lifetime.

The guest is absolutely 💯 right. He's assessment and recommendations is very objective and realistic with Nigeria and our people's attitude. THEY REALLY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU AS A PERSON, THEY CARE ABOUT WHAT THEY CAN GET FROM YOU.
All I can read from your submission is sentiments and that triggers a question when was the last time you visited Nigeria?
I came back from Nigeria last week and I can vehemently tell you, you'd go broke in a week no matter how much dollars you've on you situating yourself among family members and OLD friends.
I spent one month in the country, only 5 days in my state of origin and my town and I knew how much I spent in those 5 days in comparison to 3 weeks plus I spent in Abuja.
They all think you're wealthy in dollars and everyone wants to get their own share of your dollars. This includes people who owns their homes and doing significantly well for themselves. What they have is never enough they want to grab and add to their bank account. They monetize friendship and family relationship and that's very toxic.
No one can succeed in a place you've an incredible financial pressure amidst the intensive begging and entitlement culture.
