As a first born myself, I always say you need to be careful when dealing with your parents or family members. Most of them will love to see you dead, specially when you’re doing well and they haven’t achieved much themselves. Help them whenever you think you can, but never take your business to them. People do get jealous

As a black man of Caribbean decent I can say even after hundreds of year stolen from Africa this mind set is still prevalent in the community of black people in the Caribbean. Thank you. I thought it was just us in the Caribbean.

Exactly what is happening in my home my husband is always happy helping outsiders, and when it comes to his immediate family, he becomes aggressive and asks if our mates are not working

Frankleen it’s not just diasporans that are affected by this ….. it’s also those in Africa . On a similar note what is happening with young men nowadays who are so comfortable relying on their siblings even the women in their families , is it just me or is there an unprecedented levels of laziness going on amongst young men ?

The money handed out to our love ones has become so sweet and juicy that none of them want to let it go.

Any parent that think because I’m the first born child, that I’ll be responsible for the other children should please disown mi o because I’m a child too. Any child can be first born. As for me I’m not interested. As a mother myself I’m not putting any responsibility on any of my children. They’re each responsible for themselves.

Welcome back, you are dropping facts. Going through something similar. I live in the USA. I already built a comfortable bungalow in the village and my wife is telling me to build duplex again in the village and l vehemently refused. My next plan is to build my retirement home in enugu

Honestly, I’m on the same page with you, because I heard the same experience training all my youngers ones, today they are better off than me and don’t care .

Owamie from South Africa was just talking about putting her 25 yo sister through college because her father was being cheap and refused to pay and her mother has passed. She felt obligated as the first born and most successful.
