You should get vital instead. Made by Matt Tytel, and is probably the best Synth out (which is also free if tou choose to download the free version) with no restrictions whatsoever.
It's fantastic to see them packing in features you'd usually find/use in a DAW... into a standalone synth edit: porta is short for portamento, also known as glide (comes from the Italian phrase "portamento della voce" or "carriage of the voice") wasapi is Windows Audio Session API (application programming interface)
@@thijsboom well yes, if you put it in Ableton's DAW you can get handy things like automation and Max compatibility which are excellent, but this has a whole load of things not usually built-in to standalone VSTs, like the LFOs and gobs of modules. It's a just great thing to see, for people who don't already have DAWs :)
When I subscribed to your channel, I did it for the Blender tutorials, but now this??? I got a keyboard this year and I got Ableton with it, and I had already downloaded Helm to be used as plugin, but I never really understood what you could make yourself with it, I was just using the factory presets (which are cool as well), and now you post this great tutorial, I'd love to see more!
If you like this, do check out Matt Tytels new synth Vital, which comes in a free version, a 25$ and 80$ version, plus a 5$ a month subscription version. It is simply amazing, can do some incredible things, my new favorite soft synth. vital.audio
I was thinking 'what a thumbnail'. & the comments said you were doing blender tutorials. Me : Aaah that explains it. Subbed as I wanna start doing some animations for posting music stuff ✌🏻
Hmm...I was not aware that Audacity could record from the computer speaker output. Interesting. I have Helm as well, so I will definitely try this out. Thanks!!
I definitely recommend Helm! One weird feature I've been experimenting with is to make some of the LFOs control each other's frequency (amplitude might work too) in a feedback loop. You can get a lot of interesting pseudorandom effects that way.
Damn! already getting tinlicker vibes! sound design is so so essential for motion designers! coming with a music background, really helps focusing more on the music part
Put LMMS in your free software list. Powerful Daw. I guess everyone who does 3d animation knows how important it is to create sound. I even asked the guys at LMMS to give a away free sound clips to blender artists. That will help them.
I used to learn playing the electronic keyboard for a few years and I have a pretty cool keyboard, only if i could figure out how to connect it right this, thanks for tutorial!
Going to get this now!!!
ooh hi ducky 3D, nice video polyford, im fans of you both!
Same here ducky
I like both you guys so much and inspired me to work in blender
Fan of ducky and polyfjord
You should get vital instead. Made by Matt Tytel, and is probably the best Synth out (which is also free if tou choose to download the free version) with no restrictions whatsoever.
Thats powerful! Can't wait to use that!
Damn! That music you made at 2:00 was sick! Thanks for the tutorial man! This will come in handy for some future projects!!!
If you like that you will love the Tron Legacy soundtrack.

@@kingofthekoopas8857 though the exact same. Kudos!
yesssssssssseriiii
@@SAIWFY was just about to mention that lol
Blender, DaVinci, Audacity. Now Helm
I knew about these free yet powerful software.
If you know others then please share with us.
Magicavoxel good for voxel art
LMMS for making songs /sound effects
Gimp for image editing, Krita for drawing
Unreal engine 5
Godot for people who want an open source, no-strings-attached alternative to UE5

so what you're saying is we should all 'portamento' into eachother's DMs
@@Polyfjord ayyyyyy (☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞
You also can run this as a VSTi in your DAW....

I didn't know you were into music as well. This is sick
“This is really cool”
Yeah no that definitely is true
A drink for every "really cool" in this video would be deadly. But it IS really cool
Nice video btw
Polyfjord it truly is
damn that guy shouting or just woke up in morning
You sly dawg. I was just wondering how you make your music. This looks like a great tool and I can't wait to try it :)
Can't wait to see what you'll create!
You should use this 2:00 melody that you created to your blender projects. You are very good creator.

In the exact same boat as you!
I can't believe you made such an obscure video that I really needed. Thank you!
I like how you went straight into it
@@knkcreationofficial what. Where did we meet
hell yeah! in 6 minutes!!!
Check out LMMS. It's like this. Free... but with a bunch more features, can export music, can layer tracks, etc. Like FL Studio but free
You can even combine the two and use Helm as a vst in it
Thats literally what I do
fl studio has more tutorials, better tutorials, and more users on forums to help out, and if you’re new it can cut down learning time
@@exyl_sounds but it's quite expensive and doesn't run on all OSes
you can title this video "Daft Punk - Revealed"
Woah! Helm's finally getting recognised! This makes me so happy!
👉YOU ARE THE BEST 👈can you make a video on wall-e robot modeling tutorial with rigging 🙏 PLEASE

Finally a useful UA-cam recommendation
That's great! I will use the sound at 2:02 on my work. Thanks.

The same person who made this (Matt Tytel) also made Vital, which is a wavetable synth.

I so wish your tutorials get more attention than they do because the topics are so unique! I love your way of teaching too! :)
Hmm...I was not aware that Audacity could record from the computer speaker output. Interesting. I have Helm as well, so I will definitely try this out. Thanks!!
There's also a synth called Vital that is made by the same person.

Hi
Welcome, friend!
The sounds starting at 0:56 seriously reminded me of space cloak!
Edit: there it is again at 5:07!
Lol it might actually the exact same chord progression! It’s so cool you recognized that
I downloaded and was sad when i realised you need an actual keyboard lol
I'm pretty sure you don't. I know you don't with Vital, the (better) more recent free synth made by the same guy.
Thanks for sharing bro
The sound is just noise, i don't get the nice synthesiser sound.
EDIT: Click the icon and chose direct audio, it worked for me don't know why.
Thanks for showing us this wonderful piece of Software!
wow, 3d design and music is right up my alley. I've been doing it for years!
Dman Sir You are Awesome 😍😍😍 Giving such Cool information Thank you Sir🤗🤗🤗😍
The facial expressions are just as entertaining as the music. Thanks for your hard work!
Obi wan Kenobi hi )
Another way to record would be as a VST in a DAW. Reaper is not free but let's try infinite
okay but can we all take a moment to appreciate how cool the thumbnail looks
I have no musical sense/knowledge, but I'll try this one for sure. I mean it's - what's the word....
... AHH found it, the word is Coool😁
4:19 Linux users should be able to patch this through JACK. That gives you a patchboard for both audio and MIDI routing.

You guys should check out VCV Rack, it's an open source modular(node base) environment for creating sound and music.
I have a problem, I installed helm on my 32 bits Windows 10 laptop but when I open it, doesn't matter if standalone or vst it crashes idk why
Helm is great! I still use it in production even though I have some quite expensive synths! It is just so easy!
3:48 Now i know how at scrap mechanic made the voice of old man))
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing this, I hope they can get some more support!
I would appreciate if u made a video on the break down of your short film STACK
Hi Polyfjord!! Can you please make a tutorial as to how to make lofi piano and pads using this software?
I lova that synth its my favourite (I don't have enough money for serum)
Btw "porta" is short for portamento
I used to learn playing the electronic keyboard for a few years and I have a pretty cool keyboard, only if i could figure out how to connect it right this, thanks for tutorial!
Nice composition skills! Also - love your style of tutorials.
He makes the 'Blacl Vertigo' song's sound using Arpeggio
Don't you use automation with a little wrench icon next to any module?
Wow!...cool...... Blending this with blender animations 😍😍
