I've seen various videos on sound design and synth fundamentals but this explained it so well that I actually understood these things for the first time. Every example, simile, metaphor, and analogy was ON POINT and helped me grasp the concepts better. Thank you so much!
Great explanation on synthesis , complex ideas with analogies! My major at Berklee was music synthesis so it’s also very satisfying that Berklee has a great educator explaining these ideas online and free to start. You want to go in deeper than take their online courses!
Your a genius, this is a great presentation. It quite literally explained everything I need to understand how a basic sound system works. I'm working on a project right now in the Unreal Engine that requires me to generate my own sounds and I haven't explored those systems yet so this really helped me a ton.
Funny how I've used many of these terms every day for my entire life and never contextualized them with their core physical meaning. Thanks for a great video and I'll never let my ego talk me out of watching a "basics" lecture again. 🙂
This was so extremely on point and descriptive. It helped me visualize concepts that I'd already learned long ago but hadn't ground into my understanding as solidly as I have now. Absolutely excellent presentation, thank you very much.
I'm years late to finding this video but absolutely love it. Just dipping my toes in sound production and hadn't found someone explaining these things just the way I wanted until now. Thanks for the video!
Great explanation of what could not wrap my head around for years with what little time i have to do music... Man! This just change the game for me.. Thank you very much!
This was extremely helpful. The visual cues and the sound along with the sounds really helped me get a grasp of what was being described and discussed. Thank You
A lot of people learn with images, humanity needs to rethink education... it's stupid assuming everyone absorbs information the same way, this video is so far the best I have seen about synthesis tutorial, THANK YOU !!
This is super helpful & accessible. Thank you for making & sharing! I really liked the non musical parallels to the concepts, like apples & spaghetti strainers. Y'all rock!
Excellent job. Acknowledging the limits of the format and the wish to be brief, I would have truly appreciated a section on signal path(s), OR a linked part 2. If there's a part 2, I am missing it?
The process of recording sound stored in the form of thousands of individual measurements each at a discrete interval of time called sampling or synthesizing... please help me sir
The frequency animation confused me a bit. I understand the concept of frequency, however when increasing the frequency in the animation, the shape of the wave is altered. The higher the frequency the tighter space between the peak and base of the wave gets smaller. So does increasing the frequency also alter the shape of the wave like this? Or is it just a logarithmic representation of decreasing wavelength as the frequency goes up?

Glad you enjoyed it!

So I take it concepts of frequency and modulaiton are not taught in school today? Quite sad. Thanks for filling the gap.
Does anyone know what program that is, to make videos like this, educational and animated?
Brilliant thanks!
