Beautiful, deep and inclusive lyrics, no matter what your belief system may be. Poetry with multi layered meanings. All written in what essentially the author's second language. Mind-blowing, without even considering the musical composition.. The world needs more souls like Tuomas.
You're probably thinking of Storytime. Whenever you hear the words Dead Boy or Ocean Child, this is Tuomas referring to himself and his lost childhood innocence. Not sure if you've already reacted to it, but Nightwish do have a song called Dead Boy's Poem. A very personal song for Tuomas. If you haven't reacted to it there's a great performance of it from Buenos Aires in 2018. Stay safe 🤘 ✌️
Well, just "boy" in any form as Tuomas says he's a man with a boy's heart and dearly remembers his childhood, but also poet (of course !), writer/song writer, dreamer and as mentioned ocean soul, he has a close affinity with the ocean and was studying to be a marine biologist.
Nightwish is the happiest band there is...and the Nightwish fans are the happist fans...Nightwish is Happiness and much moore....Nightwish is my love for a band. ❤❤❤ Thank you for reacting to my heroes.
"Early wake-ups in a moving home" reminds me what Tuomas said in the "Learn The Setlist" documentary: "I love touring and the road trip romanticism you get aboard a bus. You always wake up in the different place".
still so much energy after almost 2 hours of performance, they continue to amaze me. No reduction in quality of either Floor or the band. Simply fantastic🎶🎶🤟🏻🤟🏻
Great reaction, great song, great performance... but thank you especially, dear Lady, for taking the time to go through the lyrics! I dont know, Nightwish just lifts me up, every.single.time!
hello rosalie. today the news came out Floor became a mommy again from a beautiful second baby girl. the little princessis called Lucy..all are doing well...
Yes dear Lady please, keep reacting to them, last year (and early this year) they were very busy performing here there and everywhere so there are a bunch of live videos, also Floor's solo project
I really, really enjoy your Nightwish reactions - and even more so now that I know you’re aware of their generally atheistic viewpoint. You appreciate them and their music/messages even in light of your obvious strong Judeo- Christian belief system. Bravo, very good on you! Like this song and several other Nightwish pieces stress, we should all just be happy that we got the chance to be here. It’s a wonder for each of us that we have the chance to experience life. That simple fact should be appreciated more, regardless of one’s spiritual or religious perspective.
Marko hat übrigens neulich in Südamerika gepielt mit Anneke van Giersbergen. Und vor einiger Zeit in einer Schule irgendwo im Norden. Keine große Show! In einer Schule. Fand' ich enorm.
"Well in that case we have one last whipping to do" God bless you Floor and thank you Rosalie for reacting to this barnstormer, one of so many from this phenomenal band. 🙏😊👍❤️
Wow, thanks for this beautiful an deep analyze of this great song an this great group. I love this song and I love to see the conservation between Floor and Tuomas in this clip. Thanks for this reaction!
Nightwish reaction @Rosalie 🤘 Nightwish has been my top metal band for years. I was at their concert this year 17th June Vaasa city. When I drove back home Oulu city about 400 kilometers...I was speechless, overwhelmed, stunned...what just I experienced, saw, listened. The last song was not this one but The Greatest Song On Earth. That hit me again. I tell you dear reactor, if you ever have a chance seeing them live, go! I promise you that is a lifetime experience. Love 🤘❤-Hannu
Very excited to see this one show up on your channel! This is one of my favorites. That intro by Floor is so bad-ass, and then the energy is through the roof throughout. It's so great to see everyone in the band having such a good time too. Just an absolute great festival/show closer!
"The song means, what the song means to YOU" -- Tuomas Holopainen -- Apart from stating the obvious, Tuomas never makes any statement on the specific meaning or his exact thoughts when writing the song. He purposely leaves room for interpretation when writing the lyrics. So regardless of your personal history, there is always room to make a personal connection to the song and give it a special meaning for YOU, based on the things that are important to you.
Came in towards the end, but an amazing piece to review! And so valid and relevant today.... any day. So many can take those beautiful moments, life for granted. Don't count your thunderstorms, Count your rainbows instead... 🌺
Wonderful reaction. I was so pleased to see you returning to Nightwish. Tuomas loves amusement parks. This song is such a wonderful way to describe both the park and life as a whole. There is a picture of some of the Nightwish members on a ride, coming down from a height, probably on a roller coaster. Everybody else has their mouths open with the typical "whooooaaaa! that flipped my stomach and I'm having a great time." Tuomas is sitting there, almost calm, with his eyes lit up and a radiant smile on his smile. I absolutely love that picture.
Hello again Rosalie. So good to see you back again with the Nightwish Army. This song is so wonderful in lyrics and performance, Floor and the entire band killing it. I loved the moment at the 4:41 mark of your video when the lyrics are "Wake up Dead Boy" and Marko points directly at Tuomas... so fitting and a reference to several other song including Dead Boys Poem and The Poet and the Pendulum. Tuomas is such a deep thinker and a lover of philosophy and childhood innocence. It is wonderful to see how much the whole band enjoys performing. And you analyzed the lyrics in a perfect way. Thank you.
Rosalie! I'm a FAN of Nightwish and I'm Catholic. I was a catechist some time ago. I don't care if they not believe in my god. I believe them. Somehow they and Floor are my salvation.
I like to watch your reactions. Wonderfull approach and Nightwish makes my day. One thing, you should look at the stability of your desk. Everything is moving along with your enthousiasme. Or it must be on purpose...
How great it's to see you again ❤ Still in my eyes that first NIGHTWISH time of you, now look at you loving it HOPE you are doing well, cheers, love and blessings from NIGHTWISH ARMY COSTA RICA DIVISIÓN
I was st that concert and it was the best. The moment it started, tears came pouring from my eyes but it was amazing. I think you interpreted the lyrics beautifully. Tuomas himself said that he doesn’t like telling people meaning of songs as everybody can take whatever they want or need from it at one particular time. Which I think that’s what poetry is all about. You can read a book when you’re young or old, happy or sad, and it can have a different meaning for you every time. Love your Nightwish reactions!❤
Don't you wish you were at this performance? As a pianist and physician, I can only imagine the feeling of being there live. After seeing Storytime and their other performances from Waken 2013, I have never experienced an musical band with such talent.
You should also check Nightwish with Tarja ,both of them are over the top singers but they have different vibes , Nightwish is one of my all time favorite bands
Peter Pan is referenced in Storytime so think that you were thinking of that, I think you're spot on with the lyrics, although they're open to each and everyones own interpretation, for me the line "it's hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead" my interpretation of this is that it is hard to be the hope the light but it is easy to blame everything else (bad) what I often see/hear around me, but I also see your interpretation, that's the beauty that it can have so many meanings.
I'm not entirely sure, but I think the "dead boy" lyrics are referring to Tuomas when he was younger. Or maybe just childhood in general, which is now gone as an adult. Or if not completely "dead", just difficult to grasp again. When you've seen so many sunsets etc. they're not as magical as they were when you were younger
These lyrics can be interpreted a bit more literally than normal. Imaginaerum was practically a concept album, a darker fairy tale a-la Burton or Gaiman, with its own connecting story. Last Ride is second to last song, so it's making references to earlier numbers, e.g. all those carnival references, sort of tying things up before the big final number that is Song of Myself.
Two titanium rods in my 5 fused disc neck. And I have to keep reminding myself to stop headbanging. I soooooooo much want to be banging with my fellow metal heads.😅
Hallöle:) Always an Treat to see you going emotional t o Floor and the Boys:) "It hard to light an Candle ,easy to curse the Dark instead" an Quote you can surely do an own Vid to, Lady:) I always get an small upset Hickup, when i hear Marko and Floor together, but we almost had it all, and its recorded, and so, it will somehow be There, this Magic Moments. God! I love you Rosalie!, not in an erotic way, but just how you put things into perspective. I could never do that, so I admire you for it. This track is all about celebrating life, and Tuomas' arrangement only reinforces that feeling of "We are lucky to have had the chance to be born. 99.999% of all those ghosts who were not born did not get that chance. My motto is; "stop all the whining, and be happy with what you have." Whether you believe in God, or not, "THAT'S is the message of what this song is all about".
I don't necessarily agree with Tuomas on his views on God or religion, or even his faith in science, but whatever, he makes wonderful songs that I love. 🥰
Tricksters magicians showing what's real... While Endless Forms Most Beautiful was heavily inspired by Dawkins, Dark Passion Play of Stephen King/Poe, Once with great Greek mythology, but this album is most inspired by Walt Whitman. One of the tracks 'Song of Myself' features a full-length spoken poem at the end that Thuomas beautifully wrote for himself in the style of Whitman. Its a poem spoken by a handful of voices and probably one of the most unusual things to find at the end of a song, especially as long as it is. The last time Thuomas did that was in the song 'Creek Mary's Blood', the end written and spoken in a supposed Native American language. (That one was also beautiful, but there's some P.R baggage with that one). Deffinately watch the movie this song is from, it provides so much context. That film hits hard for me (not as a nightwish fan, but of the subject matter) Lastly, Dead Boy shows up in so many tracks from as far back as the early Tarja days. Dead Boy and Nightengale. Another great video with spot on insight, thank you!
One of their greatest energising songs, and with some of my favourite lyrics. For me it has one meaning in the context of the album, another in the movie, and a third on its own, where I see it as a song of hope in the face of impending doom (currently the climate crisis, it would have been nuclear armageddon when I was growing up). In that spirit, I would like to recommend two songs: Home Free's _Everybody_ _Walkin'_ _This_ _Land,_ written from a Christian perspective but explicitly including everyone (do listen to Tim's message at the end); and Seize the Day's _Prisoner_ _of_ _Palestine,_ which is from 2006 but would be timely. It takes the side of humanity rather than any single group in the region (if anything it's anti-European), but given how emotions are running high during the current tragedy, I'd suggest just sticking to the plain lyric video posted by Ash Ghinn for that one. Some things to consider anyway.
Tuomas isn't one to reveal most of their song meanings. He thinks art should be interpreted by each individual listening. If Nightwish revealed their meanings it would spoil that.

I love the way in so many songs they refer to other songs, once you know most of their work you recognise all those connections.
@@irenehabes-quene2839 I think that's Tuomas joining up his life and ideas in small pieces.
The drummer's smile says it all.. Such a positive message for our times, and Nightwish doing it and just rockin'!

"Early wake-ups in a moving home" reminds me

It all starts with respect, mutual respect. If you're an atheïst, Christian or muslim. We are all a part of that spark... Thank you!
Nightwish are just phenomenal artists.
Yes, I was there. Best performance of the festival.❤
That's right, I can see myself in the audience, I was a short distance from the stage. I had no idea this record existed.
Hello Rosalie, Nightwish Army Italian Division present!! Welcome back into Nightwish music !! ;-)

Magnifico TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN from FINLAND. Tuomas has written so magical music.

Last ride of the Day is from 'Imaginaerum' which takes a theme park as its theme for some of the most beautiful poetry and music.
"It is hard to light a candle easy to curse the dark instead" has been on my email signature line for years.
Great reaction!!! That chorus will echo in your head all the way back home from the consert. A true banger!

Thank you for reviewing Nightwish

Nicely worded so I as an atheist can agree and hopefully so will all (most) religious people
Hi. Try out Sabaton, Bullets Never Fly. The animated video. And watch the whole thing. Tears will appear. And a trivia. Sabatons singer is Floors husband.
You should watch hardy ft lainey wilson wait in the truck its a really powerful and emotional song loads for you tovbreak down in it
Carnival entertainers inspire the imagination and, in some "pagan" traditions, Tricksters, incarnated as Raven or Coyote, are sacred.

Heiligs Blechle!
Rosalie i dont need guitar (thank for that)....i need Eminem Castle and Arose...please do that
Mam Floor is catholic not atheist. She's talked about a on interviews.
the power is Dutch. There many more Dutch female singers like. FLOOR. !!!
Not all of us Nightwish fans are atheist, I'm a zen buddhist.
Thank you for that information :)
