Good job, William! Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Eucharist) are NOT “non-essential” doctrines. These Calvinists are in grave error. “Non-essential” disputes might entail “What time should we attend Mass? Evening, Morning, or Afternoon? 😊😊😊. Protestants are always forced to put faith in “their faith” rather than the faith: one holy catholic and apostolic. 🙏

To me, this quote sums up Protestantism:
It happens that their tradition respecting redemption is invisible and incomprehensible, as being the mother of things which are incomprehensible and invisible; and on this account, since it is fluctuating, it is impossible simply and all at once to make known its nature, for every one of them hands it down just as his inclination prompts. Thus there are as many schemes of redemption as there are teachers of these mystical opinions. And when we come to refute them, we shall show in its fitting place, that this class of men have been instigated by Satan to a denial of that baptism which is regeneration to God, and thus to a renunciation of the whole [Christian] faith.
    - St Irenaeus of Lyons, Against Heresies, written in 170 AD.

Scholars like Kipp Davis say that Psalm 22:16 in the Dead Sea Scrolls and Septuagint was a typo and it should say, “For dogs are all around me; a company of evildoers encircles me. They are like lions at my hands and my feet; I can count all my bones,” instead of “For dogs are all around me; a company of evildoers encircles me. I used to hold to that, too. But too many of Jesus’ own parables clearly mitigate against it. I appreciate that the underlying desire of Calvinist theology is to glorify and clearly proclaim Divine sovereignty over every aspect of time, creation, and history. No devout and knowledgeable Catholic would argue against Divine sovereignty being absolute. Calvin’s philosophical problem is that he believed that it was a zero-sum game - that any human free will at all made Divine sovereignty conditional, and therefore not absolute, and thus, non-existent. His position was “either…or.” You can have Divine sovereignty or human free will, but you can’t have both. Since we want to honor God, Divine sovereignty takes it all.
Scripture clearly teaches a “both…and” position: Absolute Divine sovereignty and human free will. How does that work? It is a paradox from a human standpoint - which means that it is true even though it appears to be a contradiction. That “both…and” concept is found throughout Jesus’ teachings.
We don’t have to go with only one or try to split the difference. We just need to be faithful to Christ.

Suffering is a conduit for greater holiness, and we should dedicate the little sufferings we endure to God, in the hopes that it will bring us closer to Him. Suffering is an integral part of Christianity, of following the Triune God. Not to say that we should ask for suffering, but any suffering we receive should be appreciated and weathered. Thanks for watching, God bless you!

Is the NTL a bad translation? The translation of Deuteronomy 22:28-29 is different between the NLT and NRSV and it concerns me of what it implies:
“Suppose a man has intercourse with a young woman who is a virgin but is not engaged to be married. If they are discovered, he must pay her father fifty pieces of silver. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he may never divorce her as long as he lives.” (NLT)
“If a man meets a virgin who is not engaged and seizes her and lies with her, and they are discovered, the man who lay with her shall give fifty shekels of silver to the young woman’s father, and she shall become his wife. Because he violated her, he shall not be permitted to divorce her as long as he lives.” (NRSV)
