ZR2. I was going to get the TRD Pro, but after watching enough of those videos of the hood shake and the build quality from car care nut I went and bought a brand new ZR2 three weeks ago and already love it.
I was a Tacoma guy and was waiting for the 2024 model, but agree that the high price opened my eyes to consider other brands. Got myself a ZR2 and love it. Rear seats are usable and saved a lot of money. Everyone shoudl be happy with what ever truck they chose.
I’ve had a 2020 Tacoma TRD off road. Have a nicely built 2007 Fj cruiser. Loved them both. But several months ago I purchased a 2024 Silverado trail boss with the Duramax and absolutely love it. It does great off road and pulls a nice size camper for the family and I. Matter a fact my wife and I are in the mountains of Bayfield Colorado. Got in late last night and pulls our 21 foot Winnebago up a wet steep dirt trail to our camp spot no problems.
That Taco hood shake would drive me nuts. How they missed or overlooked this in testing is beyond crazy. The wind tunnel test. The engineers should have added additional bracing during design reviews.
Yeah, it sounds like the build quality is subpar, especially given its price tag. Even though GM has had a checker history, the fact that the build quality is so much better than the Taco says a lot. I've also tested out the new Ford Ranger, and I have to say the Ranger, in my opinion, is better than both. The only thing that I don't like on the Ranger is the weird feeling shifter The Colorado has a better shifter than both Ranger or Tacoma.
I just bought a 24 Bison and coming from Jeeps of all kinds the last 40 years I am so impressed with the little Chevy especially the ride, maybe my standards jist are low lol
@@RFRacing717 now don’t get me wrong, this will not go everywhere my jeeps have gone especially the really built ones I’ve had (big block, tons and 46’s) but it is gonna do what I want I think and do it in a lot more comfort, I guess that’s the old age and bad body parts talking lol. I’m really surprised to see you and a few other talk up the ride of the Toyota and make it seam as though the ZR2 is terrible, to me it is a great ride maybe it’s just your ZR2 lol
Bobby, get a ZR2 (Colorado) Bison and beat the crap out of it like you did the 2nd gen! I would like to see if the new is better! Also, if you’re gonna get the 4Runner, atleast keep the zr2 for content reasons, most of your viewers watch your channel for the ZR2 content. Lastly, if you are going to sell the zr2, please atleast do more off-roading videos! 9:11
The 2024 TRD Pro is the epitome of over-engineering. IsoDynamic seats that eat up rear legroom, seriously?? EXTERNALLY adjusted shocks?? Yeah...cuz after driving several hours on dunes/rocks, getting out to get on all fours to adjust some tiny knobs under the truck for pavement is exactly what I want to do (i.e., rather than pressing a button on the dash. Perhaps the TRD Pro should also come standard with a primer bulb and a cord to start the engine, like a lawn mower. 🙄
TRD Pro is not the same category as the ZR2. Yes they are both mid-size trucks designed for off-roading, but one is $20K more than the other. That's like a whole other car included in the price. The Taco is competing with full-sized trucks or Luxury mid-sized. Having just bought a '24 ZR2, I wouldn't even look at a truck costing so much more.
I’m genuinely confused about the ride quality complaints. Did you put stiff tires on your truck? Nobody rides in the ZR2 and doesn’t comment on how good the ride is. Especially on woops, and rutted trails. The thing eats bumps.
I think he means comfort in the seats. As a former Chevy owner of 2 vehicles, My main complaints were seat comfort and reliability. Both my Chevrolet vehicles had bills of 5 and 7K in repairs after 3 years only Toyota has way more comfortable seats and reliability. However, I definitely want a ZR2 as my next vehicle. Really on the fence between a ZR2 or a 5th Gen 4-Runner
I agree. I just bought a 24 ZR2. The first thing I noticed during the test drive was how much it rides like a car. That suspension makes it feel totally different from my last truck.
you tube has me blocked from viewing videos because I have ad blocker. I can comment on here though and have been able to see every one elses videos on a different platform but I am unable to find the one you dropped today. do you have some sort of delay from your videos going to other platforms ?
If the build quality is anything like the newest Tundra, the Taco is hard pass. Have you seen the absolute spaghetti bowl of wiring and tubing under the hood of the Taco. Absolute nightmare. Next is the rip off. It’s made in MEXICO! Toyota has cut the production cost by nearly 70% and is asking 30% more than the previous gen which was made here in the USA. F**K these guys. Absolute madness. ZR2 all the way. Better yet - ZR2 Bison - which absolutely destroys the TRD Pro. Send it!
Insane.. I just bought a '24 Silverado ZR2 with 3.0L diesel, tech and flex tailgate for 61.4K out the door at the end of August. Sticker was 75K I love this diesel
Because the toyota tacoma is probably not an off roading truck It's funny how you're just talking s*** on toyota in any other truck, just because you think your truck's better than any other truck, at off roading

Just purchased my 2024 Colorado Zr2 a couple weeks ago and absolutely love it!
Financed *
I have a ZR2, and I wouldnt trade it for a TRD Pro. I like back seats I can actually use.
What??? I'm 6 foot and can sit in the back of my ZR2 pretty comfortably. The Tacoma has the crappiest seating position of any vehicle on this planet.
@@MrHand-ih4sz Seriously, did you read my comment?
@@azraell33 Haha! Misread it. Thought you were saying to Taco seats were better. Almost choked on my lunch.
Read it wrong to lol😂
ZR2 all day. That new tacoma is absolute garbage. They are using the previous gens reputation to sell the new junky ones.
ZR2 - I have one. Beats the crsp out of my two prior Tacomas.
Hell my Frontier beats Tacoma in most ways too. My lil bro has a 2023 TRD Offroad and he even admits I have the nicer truck 😂
Damn that black trail is the real deal! I have the ZR2 and love it!

In love with the zr2! Just wish the bow tie had that bomb proof track record of longevity like the tacos do.

ZR2 hands down, no questions asked
I wish there was a difference in price in Canada they're both 80 grand.

I’d only consider the Taco if it were built in Japan, not Mex. And that ridiculous price difference?!? What was Toyota thinking?😮😮😮
Is the Toyota more comfortable when the hood is flapping and the roof rack is rattling?!

ZR2 for so many reasons!

zR2. The Tacomas all have a locking front differential there just isn’t a button to control it independently.
Being hybrid is a turn off, for a truck. Zr2 wins easily
Just get a Tahoe and live your best life.
👍🏾ZR2 All the way
Blink 182 my brother!
Still think the Ranger is better at the end of the day and it still cost less than the Taco.
A lot of that smoother ride is from the Tacos 35's.
Yep, and if you really wanna soft ride in the CR2, get the bison and you still save $20,000 over the taco.
I don’t think so, Bison’s are $65k, so at the most your saving $10k.
i think i choose raptor ranger
