    I just lost my Dad suddenly back in April. He was a huge fan Mr. Hickok. He bought this very AR on your recommendation, and now I have inherited it along with his other guns. I absolutely love this firearm, and it feels like I'm shooting with my Dad again every time I pull it out.

    • @hickok45
      @hickok45  5 років тому +136

      Sorry you lost him; that's tough times. I lost MY dad in April but it was 25 years ago come this April. I know what you mean about feeling like you're shooting with your dad when you get the rifle out. I have some of Dad's guns, and they are still so incredibly connected to him in my mind.
      People who are not fond of guns and shooting would never understand, but a firearm is actually a very personal item in many way.

      Wow, came her for a review and shed a tear. A thought I do not wish to comprehend but know it will come one day. Wish my dad got in to shooting. Tbh no one in my family likes shooting so I wonder what will happen to my collection when I pass. Hopefully someone in my family gains the love I have for these beautiful tools.

      Mr.45, that was so we'll put. For sure, you're right about certain people not being able to understand how personal & sentimental a gun can be going down the family line. I mean my 1st firearm that I shot & was given was a single shot 20 gauge shotgun that my grandpa had wanted me specifically to have when he passed. It was given to me @ 7 years old, I am now 37 & I will always have it. My grandma gave me an M1 Carbine when she passed & I was 14 then. I can still look @ those firearms to this day & see my grandparents face. Thanks Mr.45

      @Focke Wulf Let me know how the Ruger is holding up after you've run 20K rounds through it.

    • @mmholling87
      @mmholling87 5 років тому +2

      @Focke Wulf I'll play. First DD manufacturers 95% of all their parts in house which is more expensive than contracting out. Ruger doesn't make the barrels and it's not mil-spec spec steal which is 4150, the Ruger is 4140. The QC is weak at best half their BCGs and castlenuts are staked the other half aren't, plus the staking is very light when compared the DD, BCM, Colt. The MPR Mlok rail is thinner and has less overall machining done to it. Overall the Ruger is a great rifle for the money, but the DD is still a setup. Yes, you're paying for a name but DD manufacturers almost every part in house which I personally think is awesome for suck a new company. Plus they pay great and in a gun friendly state.

    • @mmholling87
      @mmholling87 5 років тому +3

      @Focke Wulf I agree with all your points brother, it's a great rifle. For the price I recommend it to everyone I know. DD is pretty sweet too! I can easily hit a 5" steel plate at 200 yards in my backyard with my DDM4V7 with a p4xi. Which I think is pretty good.

    Nothing like a Daniel Defense rifle. DD, Noveske, BCM and LWRC definitely my 4 favorites. All great rifles and ready to go right out of the box. Except for the red dot scopes I love to add on mines 🙌 If every law abiding citizen carried for defense the crime rate would go down exceptionally. I guarantee that. The criminals would definitely think twice about robbing or assaulting somebody. And if they do they would it would cost them their life. How many videos have I seen of robbers entering a store to rob it and leave on and ambulance stretcher thanks to an off duty officer or a good citizen taking matters into their own hands. When the authorities can’t help us we must take matters into our own hands and defend what’s right. God Bless you all and stay safe because this world has gone to shit

    You know Hickock45, i ended up buying a DDM4 V7 after seeing many reviews about it but, it was really your's (the 1st one) that had me convinced. Here the permit acquiring procedures are quite long so i had to wait for the longest time to get it. When my new AR arrived i was just so happy i couldn't wait to go try it out at the range. i had it for 4 months now and it is simply awesome. I had close to zero experience with rifles so i'm stil learning, but i sure don't regret my choice. In fact i'm so hooked i changed the trigger, added a Primary Arms 1-8x ACSS scope and added a few helpful accessories like a brass catcher since i also started re loading my own ammo. That too i can attribute to you my remote friend. You're "cycle of life" video as you called it about reloading got me so curious about the whole subject i started documenting myself and although i thought i would only get started next year, i just couldn't wait and went along with the purchase of everything i needed for reloading 2 months ago. I got a hold of a nice second hand Lee Loadmaster progressive press. It took me a while to figure everything out and to get it running smoothly, but it was well worth it. I did my first 250 batch of 223 rem last month without incidents. The feeling of shooting your own ammo has no equal, for me there's a sense of accomplishment there. Add to that the camaraderie i find at the shooting range just relaxing and talking with other passionate shooters and it's just what the doctor ordered after a 30 year carrer in law enforcement. It is without a shadow of a doubt the best "Therapy" for me. I sure hope we keep our gun owning privileges here in Canada. Like you guys in the U.S. we have our share of problems and many people have a very negative opinion about gun owners in general. If the government had it it's way he would ban all firearms. We don't know what the future holds for our community but for the time being i enjoy shooting as much as i can. I sometimes wish there would be a way to make anti gun people understand we are doing nothing wrong and guns can be used for something else than war or illegal activities. But i'm dreaming here, i know... Thank's again for all the videos you and John have done and shared with us for knowledge and enjoyment. Have a very merry Christmas with your family and god bless you and them.

    I finally had the nerve to shoot my first AR at my range, the DDM4V7 was available and recommended by the range instructor. After a brief intro to the AR platform, which was still intimidating to me, we went to the range and had my first hands on. After 40 rounds hitting the target at 40 yds …. I was addicted…yep, the new muscle memory was something I have to work on, which means more shooting with the AR platform… but with the red dot scope, shooting the AR was reassuring with the target placement … much easier to place than with a handgun… now I have to decide on what type of AR, the rifle or pistol….hmmm

    They're making so many incredibly nice, high quality AR platforms these days, it's getting very hard to decide which one to buy. Between Daniel Defense, Geisselle, Spike's Tactical and Seekins Precision to name a few, it's really becoming a truly intricate debate to ponder.

      @Focke Wulf NC here. Same thing in my backyard. I'm 54. When i bought my land in my early 20's {almost starved to death for a few years} one of my mandatory requirements was being able to do this and no close neighbors. I also get to shoot a lot of different guns and free ammo from my friends that have nowhere else to shoot especially steel. Nice ain't it.

    I love shooting this rifle. I was at the range yesterday fine tuning my Sig Romeo5 red dot. Just wanted to see if I could still hit steel at 100 yards with a red dot. I have the Primary Arms 1-6x24 FFP scope coming in tomorrow and a new Geissele SD-E trigger. I was able to hit 4 inch head shots at 101 yards to be exact. On camera too! LOL. I was going to break out the AR-10 but the local police came and shut down the range so they could do their yearly qualifications. Eh, it happens in small towns. Thank you for posting all these videos. It's so fun to see you and your son shoot without getting all tactical and stuff. I enjoy shooting and go to the range weekly. It's just fun! It's like me and my grand pa used to do when I was a kid.

The one thing that really stuck out to me the most was the amount of shiny-ness/brightness of the entire chrome chamber on the DD where i couldnt really see much on the BCM. shes a beaut, Clark!
    yep DD makes a heck of an AR. kinda pricey tho.
    i personally think my FN AR-15s perform better than the DD4s but theyre considered pricey too i guess.
    now im loving my DD5V1 so far. its proven to be 100% reliable so far and sub MOA accurate.
    and its FULL ambi bolt control, with catch AND release on the right, and other ambi controls are really nice. FULL ambi bolt control has become MANDATORY for me since realizing its huge advantages for reloads and malfunction clearance especially from prone.
    soon DD and everyone else will have FULL ambi controls across the board on all their models.
    nice shootin' H45! thanks for another great review. your my favorite reviewer to sit down with a big glass of sweet iced tea, prop my feet up on whichever dog is within reach, kick back and relax and enjoy a great gun review and firearm shootin' show to! thanks again.
