      +supaproman2 At no point did I say anything negative about Aimpoints. I was implying that Eotech owners are insecure about their purchase and need to talk shit about Aimpoints... while Aimpoint owners know they own the best line of non-magnified optics out there.

    I just bought a DDM4v11. I love to see things like this. it reassures me that I made a good decision. I will most likely never do most of what he put that AR through, but it is comforting to know that it will take it and perform when I need it to. Thanks Larry and DD for making a quality American made product.

      I see why Aim Point is high price. Well worth it and that is not really a high price if you think about what abuse it came across that $400 plus in cost that is not a bad price at and Daniel Defense AR is outstanding now I want one. I am curious how a S&W Sport II AR would handle these tests.

    • @Gorlami90

      I understand why people want these proven systems, I am one, but at the same time I highly doubt I’ll ever be in that situation. This along with the fact I shot a DDv11 and it just shot so smooth with that mid length gas system, compared to my colt (which has a carbine length system) I still like colt and trust colt but they definitely aren’t as nice as the DDs are, there just facts

    • @easbreid9879
      @easbreid9879 6 років тому

      Wolfgang Alpha they were trying to simulate soldiers fast roping and dropping there rifle while doing it. Most of the time, teams get dropped into a field or opening outside of wherever they are, i think they did the test that way bc its more real world to them but dropping it 100 ft onto asphalt im pretty sure would jack it up somewhere

    • @Gorlami90

    I bought a Daniel defense rifle in 2012, have a few thousand rounds thru it. Have ran it hot, dirty and uncleaned. I have never had any malfuctions! Not once.
    I removed the hand guards and added a bcm free float rail and a spikes heavy carbine buffer. This is the smoothest shooting ultra accurate rifle I own. It chews through any ammo I fed it!
    If your watching this vid trying to decide on wich AR to buy, I highly recommend a DD! I wish I had bought 2 of these early model DDM4vs

    • @MrStrongmuscle
      @MrStrongmuscle 8 років тому

      AR is a rifle platform people prefer. Depending on the style set up they want. Nothing tactical about saying that. Now, when people call it a battle rifle, that shit pisses me off, a rifle that has not seen battle or that is not fully automatic is not a battle rifle.

    cannot believe that the gun outran the T1. That's very impressive. Held my first DD yesterday and was very impressed. I think I'll buy a BCM (assemble two halves) because they're a bit cheaper for the same quality, but still. Very cool guns, and probably a bit more durable than some of the new BCM's (at least in the way of hand guards).
    I would have really liked if Larry'd rip the Aimpoint off and looked to see if the irons were still on zero (they probably weren't either but you know I'm curious).

    I stumbled on this video and I do have this same model in the safe- the old milspec DD M4 Carbine with the Omega X rail. This is still an excellent rifle today. It's much lighter than it looks considering the substantial pic rail real estate this has. I had moved away from the fixed front sight models, but I tested this one with a Meprolight M21 I had lying around and that front sight co witnesses perfectly with it and gives a reference for when the dot washes out on a bright target.

  • @shananagans5

    I hate the way all these places do the dirt test. They close the cover, put the port down or any number of different things. Well, anyone knows any gun will malfunction if to much dirt gets into it. They need to do more realistic tests. Drop it on sand with the cover opened, bolt closed & magazine in like if a soldier dropped it in the field. Maybe kick a little sand on it, shake it out & go. That isn't as impressive as burying it but it's more realistic & won't rely on an unrealistic set up like dust cover closed & port down over a hole. Those tactics aren't fooling anyone and, lets face facts here, if your rifle ends up getting totally buried you are going to have to open it up & do at least dump any sand or clumps of soil out. That goes for pretty much any gun.
    Function during blowing sandstorm would be a good but hard to set up test.
    The other tests are great & impressive. I think the things most people really want to know is will still run good when it's dusty or dry with a few hundred rounds already through it ? Will it run 1,000 rounds without cleaning or additional lube with only a few breaks to cool a bit? Like conditions you would see in an intense firefight.
    Anyways, overall, great torture test. By the way, I love my DD.

    • @grant133

    • @lm-usmc
      @lm-usmc 5 років тому

      Pretty sure the Army teaches then same, but in the USMC, when the rifle is not being fired, the dust cover is closed. That's what it is for. So the test was spot on. You can what if all day, but the Aimpoint and the DD rifle did outstanding. Go back to your moms basement.

    • @leetskeet4476
      @leetskeet4476 5 років тому

      The M4 is a closed bolt, and has very little open spots for dirt or mud to get into the bolt/chamber, you can open the dust cover, dump 20 lbs of mud directly on it and it will still fire

    Well if I ever find myself going overseas to fight in the desert, in the swamp or throwing my weapon out the window, aim point is the way to go.

    I wonder how many DD rifles, and Aimpoint optics were sold after Larry put out this video? I know DD sold an m4v11slw (14.5” barrel, 12” keymod rail- which is like the quad rail just uses keymod instead of the pic rail, so it’s lighter but still have that durable frame) because of this video, n I know I’m not the only one!

  • @AlbertaDMode
    @AlbertaDMode 7 років тому +2

    I respect the durability, no doubt. But do you have to tape the muzzle every time? What if dirt makes its way inside the bore?? :p The last drop tests are good too. But what if you drop on the hard surface from that high... like on the concrete? Regardless... I think M4 is a great rifle, no questions asked. Next on my list!! God Bless US and 2A!

    • @dontprayforme
      @dontprayforme 5 років тому +2

      AlbertaDMode Any rifle, or handgun for that matter, with a severely clogged or blocked bore will experience an exploding barrel in spectacular fashion. That’s not something specific to the AR design. I’m sure that was simply a precaution by the testing team and something people do in the field when necessary.

    haha so many haters, this is a great video I guess not everyone can keep up with keyboard operators

    • @K0gashuk0
      @K0gashuk0 8 років тому

      +chris abbott I agree with the keyboard operators. However, the results of the tests are not too surprising. I saw a lot of jacked up things happen to m16s and m4s. They very rarely break in these type of circumstances. The weak point in the system is the buffer tube. If that bends or breaks it is a brick. Otherwise the system is pretty robust. I just wished that he had done it on a loaded chamber. Yes there is extra safety measures to look at but you might not always think to rack the charging handle 15 times each time you bump your weapon. Also, if it hits the ground, goes off out of battery, and explodes that is a fail no matter if the hardware components survived the fall.

      Cheaper AR's could of passed those tests man. Have you seen the Torture tests on the AK? These guns are steal and hardened aluminum, any AR could of went through that. They covered the muzzle, that to me is not a torture test. They leave the muzzle open when they do it with an AK. Not only that, they fire the AK underwater over and over.

    I love the difference in “torture tests “ with a $2000 rifle, pull out a PSA and they don’t even oil it and run 5k rounds. All taped up and gently bury it. The cheaper rifles the stomp dirt into the action… stop

    I've torture tested my RRA beater gun with lots of dirt. It's surprising how much it can handle (although undoubtedly over gassed). I poured dirt into the open ejection port every 5 rounds for a whole 30 round mag

    Sadly, DD is illegal to own in Maryland except for the 18" heavy barrel pro... I wanted a 16", duty grade AR15. I can own any brand / make & model if it's pistol length but the second the barrel hits 16" you are limited to only a few true duty grade rifles. Decided to go with LWRC since they use a heavy barrel profile but they flute spiral the entire barrel which cuts some weight to almost a medium profile but since it's still technically an HBAR barrel it's good to go.
