- Original Video: • The Judge
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes, this channel is created and managed by Hickok45 and John, mainly John. The video clips on this channel are segments of videos taken from videos originally posted on the Hickok45 UA-cam channel. John always includes a link to the original video from which the clip is taken.
Hickok45 videos are filmed on my own private shooting range and property by trained professionals for educational and entertainment purposes only, with emphasis on firearms safety and responsible gun ownership. We are NOT in the business of selling firearms or performing modifications on them. Do not attempt to copy at home anything you see in our videos. Firearms can be extremely dangerous if not used safely.
You did this exact video like 8 years ago. You even used the same targets.
If it's a repeat, I for one don't give a flying fiddly eff. It was my first time seeing it. A happy Judge owner .
You're watching the clips channel. Every video is a repost that has been cut down or modified in some way. Check out the video on the home page or read the description of the video. It will explain everything.
But why? You're one of the best channels out there, why not just do a part 2 of the judge video instead of being lazy and do this. WOW, even you guys are doing it, too.
Well, thanks for all the years of great videos and information, but I guess it's time I move on, oh and no, using a gun to pretend to nail something to a fence is not that funny and it kinda shows a lack of respect to a firearm.
@@claytongross5657We've done 6 videos on the Taurus Judge over the years. You do realize this is not the Hickok45 channel right? This channel was created for the sole purpose of introducing our old content to people who hadn't seen it before or anyone that's interested in seeing a new more condensed take on our old videos. If this isn't for you that's ok but regardless it is what we are doing on this channel.
🤦♂️
Hickok doing a drive by…. Priceless 😂
Glad you've reviewed this one, Hickok45, so I don't have to run out and buy one. Thanks!! 🤑 👍
many many squirrels have lost their lives to the trusty 410
Shoulderd long gun, not a handgun. They would be pretty safe beyond 10 yards.
Not to mention all the snakes 😊.
@snowlothar45, even with a shoulder fired shot gun. Those birdshot aren't going to kill anything beyond 50 yards. It's would be even less with buckshot. I fire shotguns off my back step(not at the berm) all the time. It's not a concern because well to start my closest neighbor is a miles and a half in the other direction. The other reason is because those projectiles are landing on the ground before they even make it to the tree line.
The Thunder 5 is the grandpa of the Judge line of handguns.
A friend has an original T5. It has a safety & that has caused the only trouble he’s had with it. If you engage the safety and then try to cycle the action, things get out of time, requiring a trip back to the manufacturer.
I asked my friend if he felt comfortable with a bedroom gun that carried only 5 rounds. (He loads 000 buck.) His reply was, “If you shoot a bad guy with 5 rounds of 000 and he keeps coming, throw the damn gun at him and run for your life - he ain’t human!”
5 slugs or 4, you demonstrated on that duct just how effective the 000 load is. That is a “dead duct”. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself!
This gun patterns like how video games think shotguns pattern lol.
Another awesome opportunity for education 🇺🇸 thank you Hickok45👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I hear in several states, it's really easy to buy a Judge.
Actually, that is mostly true for Blue States....
Actually, that is mostly true for Blue States....
@@michaeldunwoody3629 Blue money buys blue judges.
Yes indeed pretty much all Blue areas Judges are cheap to purchase
😅
Been a fan for many years.....Thanks
Life is good, Taurus is really growing on me as of late.
This is an excellent video showing why the Taurus Judge/S&W Governor should be considered as revolvers primarily for shooting buckshot.
Yeah, for anything larger than a rat / snake, birdshot would just make 'em madder.
I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of any shotgun round of any size at any distance
There are nicely videos about people being purposely shot at with a shotgun using birdshots from 30 meters. And nothing happens. They have even the standard targets on their backs and the pellets can't penetrate even that paper.
It was about the government claim that shotgun shooting range was a danger to air traffic as the airport glideslope went over it, and aircraft flew about 600 meters above the range and about 1 km away.
Interesting rig there. The 00 and 000 would stop someone in close.
Hmmm...if it didn't stop 'em, they'd definitely be reconsidering their life choices.
Yeah he's just shooting birdshot number seven
Hickok I just finished watching all of your podcasts you’ve done with John and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing you both out on various topics as I deep cleaned my Ruger M77 and couple other revolvers. It was very zen and peaceful not gonna lie 😁
Your safe handing of a short weapon, is Awesome.
I hear Bill BVurr in my head . . . . . . . "She got her some good SPREAD!". LOL
Great video, thanks. The six inch Judge would probably produce narrower patterns. A fun sidearm though.
Pretty sure rifling/spin causes pattern to open up rapidly.. sometimes causing a donut pattern
Federal 000 handgun buckshot only has a 7 inch spread at 25 yards.
@@robarmstrong5404 I should have added birdshot.. or anything other than a single stack column. The wad and it’s payload are spinning so centrifugal force forces the shot to the outside of the wad and as it leaves the barrel it continues to move away from the center of the wad.
I was thinking about this very subject the other day and I decided the only reason to carry birdshot would be if you were in an area with a poisonous snake problem. Or if you were really good at sneaking up on ducks. It seemed like 000 buck would give the best pattern (although a lot of things don't work like I think they should in the real world). So it was good to see this video to affirm that. Another thing I noticed about 000 buck, although the 5 pellets of a 3 inch shell have more total energy than the 4 from a 2 1/2 inch shell, the individual pellets from the 2 1/2 inch shell are travelling a little faster. Personally, I would rather have a little more penetration and a little less recoil than the extra pellet. Plus, the longer cylinder on the magnum Judge looks kind of goofy.
@@robarmstrong5404I need to see that to believe it?
Excellent. Concise and graphic. Clear demo of what the kids call "philosophy of use," and we call, in your hills and mine, "up close and personal problem solving."
Ya know you’re hard up for targets when the duct work isn’t safe!😂
Thanks for reviewing this firearm.
The teacher teaches. Good info, thanks.
OMGoodness,,your opening had me on the floor with laughter. I always enjoy your videos.,,& usually learn something. Thanks
Living vicariously through you brotha here in SC glad to see this one always wondered about this gun
I wanted one of these really bad when I first heard about them. Then I held it and realized how big it was. I knew I wouldn’t want to conceal carry it. I have a Mossberg shockwave at home for SD. I like the concept, but don’t think I could find much use for it. I bought the Bond arms derringer instead. It’s only 2 shots, but it’s a nice hiking gun I think. I’m in rattlesnake country so it’ll take a snake or a wild boar I suppose if I needed it to.
You said Zombie
But we know you meant
Meth Heads
Greetings Hickok from Apacheria in the Arizona Territories Ahe'hye'e
Absolutely great video! My “neighbor” has the exact same revolver and several of those loads so this video was perfect!!!
Thank You,Sir.👍👍👍👍👍
I own a Rossi carbine which is the Judge with a 16" barrel. 45 long colt (self defense round) followed by 410 S. D. Round alternating in the cylinder & at 10 yards. The 410 round(41mm slug followed by two 35mm balls) group @ less than 2". What a sweet little yet Powerful weapon.
Here come da Judge! 😂
Nice.....😊
I was looking forward to seeing the 45 long colt though that.. Thanks for this.
Thinking an actual smoothbore would be a better compromise- if legal.
It may be a gimmick gun but its always been in my center console.
I believe I'd just get some more pizza pans to show the differences...haha.
Thanks for the demonstration
Thanks Hickok45 I've been very happy with my Taurus Judge
Thanks for the video, showing the destruction at different distances. I keep mine in the truck, just in case.
I love watching Mr. Hickok!
I inherited one from my pops, stainless model. I love the thing.
I have a 6" Judge, was my first ever gun purchase, I wish I had bought something else. My own experiments indicated to me that the 410 BBB buckshot shells are practically worthless outside of 20' from a judge. Also, when you can find 410 buckshot it's crazy expensive, I much prefer my S&W 686, ammo is cheap enough that I'm willing to take it to the range often. My Shockwave 20 ga OTH loaded with #1 buckshot appears to be plenty effective at 30 yards and beyond.
I rarely comment on videos, but I want to let you guys know that today is now the SECOND time I’ve had to re-subscribe to your channel. I originally subscribed many years ago. In fact you’re on of the first channels I picked when I first started subscribing to UA-cam channels. Then several years back I noticed I was unsubscribed somehow, so I reupped. Idk exactly when it happened, but I thought to myself “GeeI haven’t seen Hickok for a while. Did he stop making content?” Nope! I’m just not subscribed to the channel anymore. Well anyway, I figured you should know. Keep up the good work friend.
The same things happen to me I was subscribed and it didnt alert me in it on anything new
My Judge does a great job of teaching cotton mouth snakes to fly. At an angle they fly about 15 to 20 feet when you hit them and they don't survive!!!
If you spend a little time on load development it can shoot 45 colt very good....i have a 200 grain SWC load that shoots great. I bought mine as a fly fishing gun and it works great in that roll
you saved me from getting one 8 years ago.i was cat fishing last night at a boat ramp by myself it was dark and nobody around i had my little 9mm 8 shot ruger and i felt kind of un armed.mite have to take my glock 23 next time and a extra mag lol.yeh and hickok made me buy that years ago. hes cost me alot of money .
Federal HANDGUN buckshot from a 3inch barrel is only 7 inch spread at 25 yards. It's the only load to use for defense.
I don't think I would like to be standing there either...
You look younger Hickok :) thanks for posting
Was always interested in one of these. Glad I never "pulled the trigger"
Great subject and video
It was Buffalo Bill (Cody) who used dust shot in his trick shooting act if I remember rightly.
Love this channel!
We can make our own “judgments” 😎
Have one. Had it for years.Never had to use it for what i bought it for. Hope i never do. Its a stainless 3 and 3. Its my bedside piece with a 12 short barrel pump in the corner. Both loaded with 00 and 000. Stop over some time id like to show how they work.
of course i wanna come along , of course i wanna watch lol being canadian it's the only way i can see most of the firearms you use , since 95% of the firearms you use in your videos are either not available , way too costly to own or illegal in canada . thank you so much for the history lesson of the firearms and the entertainment you gave us over the years . btw happy fathers day .
Just like mine. Thanks Hickok.
It’s gotta good spread 😂
That’ll put a nice peppering on anything 🎉 keep uploading old videos, bond arms too.
Had one just like that, sold it after the 410 high brass load would not kill a possum at three yards. I've had bad luck with other Taurus handguns that would jam, so have fun, but avoid Taurus period.
My dad bought a Judge some time ago and now it is mine. I think it has a 4 or 5 inch barrel.
I'd like to see who's the boss - Taurus Judge vs S&W Governor.
I've watched side by side tests, and the governor not only runs 3 calibers, but does so with reasonable accuracy.
@@jeremyclementmusic S&W Governor also has the advantage of capacity, holding six rounds, not the five rounds of the Taurus Judge.
Hey keep the work up didn’t know they made the 3in judge nice an a 2in1
The Judge is probably the most effective and well made weapon I have ever had the pleasure of carrying. I wore a badge for 29 years in the county I grew up in and I believe that the Judge is the best “All situation” pistol I’ve ever owned. The diversity of ammo is of course a plus along with the sights and feel of the pistol just makes it perfect for me and I carry it daily. My favorite load is Federal OOO buckshot with 4 pellets per shell, and that allows 20 pellets per cylinder.
Point blank. Lethal from a distance less lethal to non lethal. Completely usable.
Good show
Those ooo buck would leave one nasty wound cavity at a close distance. Enough to be fight stopping in my opinion.
I got a.44 mag already, so I got some #4 and I got about the same performance, just less shot in the CCI rounds
Great video!
It is exactly like Wild Bill Hickok shooting you 4 times with his .36” caliber revolver all at once in a single shot.
Goes around 16” in ballistic gelatin.
It is enough gun.
I favor the Governor.
If you live rural on some acreage it is a very useful handgun.
Good tractor gun.
I get why most people would not want one.
Those larger pellets and shot cup now may be working with the rifling correctly .
Paul Harrell did a series of extensive shooting videos on the Judge several years ago. Watch them if you are considering buying one.
Yeah if i remember right he didnt think the judge would make a good home defense gun.
I have a bond arms in 410. Pretty much NO rifled barrel to spin projectiles, so arguably less useful than a Judge. Within 5 yards, 45lc is plenty accurate. I tested winchester pdx1 410, and hornady triple (a 40 cal slug & 2 buck pellets). The winchester was so wildly inaccurate, I question its safety, honestly. The Hornady WORKS. I had a tight group at 5 yards and it was dead accurate, despite coming out of a derringer. In terms of ballistic damage I have seen a number of tests which show Federal handgun buckshot to create the most damage ballistics gel but I can't ever find the stuff to test it. My Bond Arms has killed a couple of snakes and local gun shops can't keep the judge in stock because Property Owners out here have a real problem with venomous snakes. I would like to own a judge and load it up strictly for snake dispatch. If I still lived in the big city I would never buy one of these because it scatters too much, and I'd much prefer my 357 Magnum to stop a drugged up home invader. But if you live out in the country or you go for long hikes in the mountains, this is a useful tool. The reason why you can't find 410 shells anywhere these days is because of the sheer quantity of country folks who bought a judge.
I have owned two Judge revolvers, the original steel framed snub-nose and a 3 inch steel frame.
The snub-nose patterned much better, due to less rifling to travel through(it would hold a decent pattern at 15 yards).
The 3 inch was almost worthless for patterning bird shot.
I would think the 6 1/2 inch barrel would pattern even worse, due to all the rifling the shot has to pass through.
#9 shot was awesome on snakes in the snub-nose.
I remember this video, it was a great one!
As an aside, I tried like heck to find those same Zombie targets.
I remember having some, but I think the company is out of business.
If I'm wrong, could someone please post a link?
There are other targets out there, but I liked these the best.
Awesome firearm, I have always wanted one but I can't seem to give in to another caliber in my inventory but thanks for all you do for We The People 🎉🎉🎉
Wow that last shot, was 000 buckshot? Seems like that may be good for home defense or carjacking protection or just close up and personal defense for less than 20 feet which I guess is 7 yards… what revolver is that you used?
I liked and commented on this video solely based on the first 10 seconds. Legend.
For home defense I feel you need to stop an intruder without ripping walls in the house. Guys love 12 Guage buck for in a house, but where is the family and neighbors are. By law you got your target but if it goes and hit someone else you are going to house of many doors. Even number 7 at 7 yards aimed at their face and they may not be able to see. You want accurate by a weapon for that for up close a judge. And for hunters it works as a snake gun or your back up for something that wants to get you. And you guy who sit in that tree stand and have a small gray problem barking at you when you are ready to leave you can say HI!
Informative, so for actual defense and stopping a threat 00 is the lowest I would go. All the smaller pellets would do more damage to sheetrock than an intruder
Yes sir #5 an #6 rabit n squirrel. #4 turkey usually.
You in a Honda "E?" (Element)
Public Defender and the Judge models? Is there a Convict model?
When he went to 4 shot he also went to 2 1/2 in shells which are way less power than the 3”
Great video, people love the judge but I still prefer a short barrel shotgun for home defense. Thank thanks. 45 love your work
Good info. My range doesn't allow shotgun shells. Probably because there's already a few thousand holes in the ceiling.
Try Hornady 410 critical defence
I own the 6 1/2 inch model. The spread is insane with the shallow rifling, even with buckshot. The colt .45 slugs tumble and aren't reliable beyond 5 yards. As for self defense, unless the threat is right in front of you, (10 feet or less) its too sketchy at longer distances.
You will definitely get their attention . Kind of like shaking a fire ant bed or a bee hive .
I have the Public Defender. Live in the foothills of the Cascades in WA State. I’ve patterned the revolver several times with six and four shot. Not impressed. Also patterned double ought and single ought buck shot. Buck shot is my preferred .410. So, I only use it as a trail gun on my property loaded with two buck shot rounds and three Long Colt just in case I run into a coyote or mountain lion. My home defense preference is my Glock 34. Everyday carry, S&W Shield .9mm
Galvanized 26ga sheet metal.
Thats the most .410 ive ever seen in one place
Yes they shoot high my wife and I both use 000 buck she shoot a 3inch barrel and I stood a 6 inch . We love ours if someone walks in the house she aims center mass.
When you have everything else, why not?
Wow
WOW! What year was that filmed in?
1814
I mean, I was going through Déjà Vu all day, but then this came along.
I'm entirely sure that seeing this video is not Déjà Vu though. I have seen the video and it's totally Déjà Entendu.
I like the looks of that 000
I have some triple odd buckshot for mine
Sounds like youre wearing spurs, is the baserock at the range made of brass?
New York, the Judges can be bought cheap..
