Our tenth day in Tokyo started bright and early with a visit to the Michelin-starred Azuki to Kouri for a much-anticipated dessert experience. Despite the high expectations, our group found the desserts underwhelming, rating them around 5/10 and 6/10. The ice was flavorful only where the toppings lay, leaving us craving more.
With our sweet start slightly soured, we headed to the electric town of Akihabara, Tokyo's mecca for electronics, anime, and gaming culture. Our first stop was an arcade where we tested our luck and skill, though the elusive prizes remained out of grasp. We then immersed ourselves in the anime universe at Animate Japan Anime Specialty store, followed by wandering the bustling streets filled with eclectic shops.
A revisit to Super Potato brought back memories of earlier gaming finds, though this time, the coveted Street Fighter 2 eluded us-a reminder of missed opportunities in collector's quests.
The highlight of our day was the visually stunning Team Labs Planets, a must-visit for anyone in Tokyo. This immersive art installation offered a breathtaking experience that beautifully melded art with technology.
As evening fell, our quest for dinner took us back to the familiar and much-loved Abura Soba in Shinjuku, reaffirming our love for its robust flavors. A leisurely stroll through Shinjuku brought us to a massive arcade, where we were captivated by a local gaming prodigy, her movements almost robotic in precision and speed.
