Yes I was so ready for it to another hetero movie but as soon as the name Sam was said I knew it would be gay. Movies don’t use gender neutral names unless it’s the opposite gender to what we think.

The reason I watched it was cause I saw Maya Hawke in the "thumbnail" thingy and I had no clue it's gonna be hella gay until Sam appeared on that one scene like the whole time I genuinely thought Sam was a guy, but apparently she wasn't and I was like silent screaming when Sam popped up on the screen and I was like "FUCK YH LET'S GO LESBIANS LET'S GO"

am i the only one hella conflicted about her characther? like one minute she was ready to murder sam for her safety(yes its murder because since they're after her all she had to do to live was fucking leaving instead of forcing sam out to a bunch of killers. and next minute she's all like 'no sam we're in this togetherr'??? also at first i really didnt like how deena was acting towards sam like if it was a guy everyone would be like what an asshole bf(love the series but 1994 was the weakest one for sure for me especially with the over use of soundtrack)

That was one of the main reasons they made this movie!! Leigh Janiak wanted to combat the stereotypical tropes in horror movies like poc and lgbtq characters dying first. And the movies are also one big analogy for social issues we see today. They put so much thought into details and it’s truly a masterpiece

Then Deena still made her feel like it was all her fault n thought it was the right idea to throw a cooler at the car she was in because?.....
That one reckless decision putt Sam in a hospital n eventually possessed, n indirectly led to Kate n Simon being murdered n framed in the worst way possible.
She risked their n her own brother's lives n didn't even mourn their deaths. Josh showed more emotions in the aftermath than Deena n they were her friends.

The sequel is much less traumatic (and has the gorgeous Christina Hendricks).

I'm so excited for this!! I've been hyperfixating since it came out. I have to say, as a queer woman myself, I do think this is one of the most realistic portrayals of a wlw relationship I've ever seen in media.

The girl has problems not to mention putting her brother n friends in danger. Even when they died, she didn't even give it a second thought n only thought of Sam.

Deena correctly said that the 30-minute distance it takes to walk between the two of them could just as easily be the moon, because that meant the social distance between Shadyside and Sunnyvale. It's not just that while nothing goes right in Shadyside and bad luck follows you there, in Sunnyvale everything flourishes and nothing bad ever happens, but also that the citizens of Sunnyvale are proud of that and look down on the Shadyside citizens and consider them filthy scum. In a way, by moving here, Sam has become one of them. After all, in her first scene she is also wearing a cheerleader uniform with Sunnyvale written on it. I don't mean to dislike Sam at all, I also like both characters and both admit they were pretty unfair and mean to each other but Deena's behavior in the beginning was no less understandable than Sam's.
Are you just ignoring the fact that the Sunnyvaler, having already behaved like this at the vigil, are now going one better, chasing the bus and even throwing bottles at it?
Her friends and brother put themselves in danger, they knew what they were doing.
