It`s so soothing seeing someone actually tweak and show a synth instead of some "reviews" that run through it`s presets, comment a bit and call it a day. Bravo Mr.Doty

I wish only more people would be like you. Cause the internet is becoming full of Hatred, Stupidity and Ego in far to large quantities. Everyone fighting everyone for nonsense. So videos like yours are bit of an Oasis (not the band... :-)

Just picked one of these up off of Craigslist for a great price. Thanks Marc, for all the great info! Now, I just need to get a $600 reverb pedal for my $300 synth.....

As usual Mark, AWESOME detailed in-depth analysis of the synth.
And the whispered comments are very funny!

Yeah this really helps me value the synth for what it is, sometimes I compare and get frustrated (no sub oscillator) but I agree the breadth of timbre on this thing and the many high end features like wVe shape, ring mod, and parameter sequencing make it a gem of it's own.

Holding shift and turning OSC2 Pitch will increase/decrease it in semitones. Which can of course be step-based motion sequenced into duophonicish glory. :)

Learned synthesis on an Arturia Microbrute, and while I love that synth, I’m trading it in for one of these. Already have a Minibrute 2, and feel like this would be the perfect “small” synth for travel and gigging!

Personally i would prefer the noise to be on a seperate section so you could use both oscillators plus noise but you cant complain much on this price range it can do a lot though as a synth.

  • @Thantas

Actually there are infinite sets that are more infinite than others. (I’m a mathematician yes). The only wrong part in your video is the infinite times two.. it would be better to say infinite squared. :-P great video again!! Let’s go make some music now!!

  • @solarwind3656

I just now noticed that you can't direct an envelope to the intensity of the LFO, meaning you can't make "the minilogue sound" with two shaped sawtooth waves beating against each other, the int all the way up and set to decay in the envelope with little or no rate, that's a very cool sound.

One synthesizer I think you'd like very much is the Perfourmer Mk II, by Vermona.
I'd love to see you review it one day, here's hoping =)

Marc Thanks so much for your tutorials, I have learned a bunch. Off topic here a little. I am surprised that the Sub 37 never got your amazing synth power wielded upon it. Will there ever be a Sub 37 tutorial series?

Not from me, there won't. Moog Music's management has emotional issues that cloud judgement.

Does the amp envelope have the same clicking as the Minilogue? I have a love-hate relationship with my Minilogue cos of that "feature."

  • @Thantas

For example the natural numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, … etc that we use in everyday maths are less infinite than the real numbers situated among 0 and 1. Ok let’s go play some korg now

I wanted to buy this but as I'm watching all the videos on UA-cam I hear and realise my electribe 2 is capable of the same stuff as a virtual analogue synth just with plenty of more waveforms..what I have to do now?maybe Waldorf Blofeld?

Hello there! I've got one of these (a red one) in the post. I'm a proper newbie (hell ya gotta start somewhere!). What could you recommend as companions for this baby? DrumBrute? Volcas? Some kinda delay? Interested to hear your ideas! Thanks for all the great vids!!

I started reading specs on these during the pre release hype and every site you go to in their description says they have a brushed aluminum top and a real wood back. but unfortunately when mine arrived last week it's plastic and obviously fake wood.. I'm pretty pissed. Did they just decide last minute to cut corners and keep the price the same or was demo models aluminum just to appeal to people to drive up sales?

Cool synth. What do you think is a better overall value, this or the Microbrute?
Also (and I'm sure you never will because you love the pure analog synths) I'm hoping someday you can review the old Ensoniq ESQ-1.
You might not have one, but I'm sure you know somebody out there that you could borrow one from just long enough to do it...

    • @automaticgainsay
      @automaticgainsay  7 років тому +9

That's a tough question because those synthesizers have such different architecture! I'd have a hard time choosing between them, to be honest. I endorse both!
The ESQ-1 was the second synth I ever had... I bought it new in 1987, and used only it for the next 4 years after that. I actually WOULD do a demo of one! I'm sure I'll get my hands on one again in the future, and I'll do a demo!
