    Your way of explaining is the best. Thank you for making analog synthesizers understandable!

    YES. Yes I do.

      Who doesn't? Just be sure to have some friends tie you to the ship's mast beforehand.

    You can get legato by turning portamento on but setting it to zero. Great video.

    As most comments say... Your explanation, analysis, tutorial is fantastic. Thank you very much for explaining and showing examples. I love this korg monologue set of your, as I love the synth it self. The only disappointment from this synth is the reset of everything every time I press another key. It s annoying and limiting for me. But I guess I have to get use to it or add effects :)

    Incredible videos, thanks for all the help! Please make a playlist for the monologue. I couldn’t find one on your channel. It makes it so much easier to reference this awesome series.

    Another thing the pitch envelope is great for: synced oscillators! Though you'd have to have one VCO unaffected, and this looks like it goes to both?

    • @zaphyd
      @zaphyd 7 років тому +2

      No, you can select global pitch and pitch 2 only (vco 2) so it's great for synced sounds

    Is this good for making ambient/drone sounds? Because I'm thinking of hooking up my NTS-1 with this or the Zoom MS-70 CDR if the monologue can't do ambient/drone sounds by itself

    You are just the person I need to ask about something that has been bewildering me: why does the Minilogue (and the Monologue) have no amp target for the lfo? Tremolo is a very important modulation for me for many evolving and textural purposes and such a basic function of most lfos. Is there a work around for this? In this video on theMonologue, you reference how the filter can also can affect amplitude, and I get that, but it's also creating frequency cut off which is not the same as as a straight forward tremolo lfo effect. I've been searching UA-cam and online for some rational for Korg to leave amp target out and haven't found one yet. You seem to have some Kung fu master knowledge on synthesizers, which has been a blast learning about, and thought you might finally give me some answers about this.

      I would assume price? You can always use a post processor (e.g. guitar pedal) to add tremolo, flanger, phaser, compressor, etc.

    • @GrootsieTheDog
      @GrootsieTheDog 9 місяців тому

      @@marc.lepage Old post - there are osc you can install with an amp lfo (price is obviously not the issue - a simple tweek of code is all that is needed as evidence by user osc being equipped with options) Also tremolo user efx for the minilogue are available now :)

    Its a Return-to-Zero- Synth? The video was over 6 years ago now. Didn't it have a SHIFT-PLAY function back then? So you can adjust the sound to the condition of the Customize controls.
    Loads the status of the switches and controls Top in the selected program.
    By the way.. The Monologue is STILL TODAY .. The Badass (Beast) Synth on the Planet Earth for 300 Bucks! Sounds fuckn´Awesome!
    It simply bite the Head off.., as far as the Sound Character is concerned , of much more expensive Synthesizers! 😅

    It's a cute piece of gear, but I reckon you have to be really stripped for cash to prefer it to Minilogue.
    You gain so much for these extra $200.
    To pick a few:
    2 full ADSRs, 4x poly (or 4x unison), full featured identical OSCs and independent noise, ring and sync, switchable 12/24 filter slope.
    It's not some theoretical on-paper comparison, all of that widens sound palette substantially.
    Keys still kind of suck, but at least there are 37 of them.
    Ok, you lose battery powered feature, but I doubt you'd ever jam with it without AC around.
    To me Minilogue is THE ultimate budget synth. If you have outgrown it, you definitely succeeded. Monologue though is for absolute beginners and bass players. Still way better than Microbrute and probably even Minibrute mkI.

      monologue has some other features that minilogue doesnt, also the minilogue filter does that wierd thing when it cuts out the low end when there is resonance

      I find the monologues limitations inspiring. It’s not just the perfect beginner synth. It’s a beginner synth that you’ll want to keep build around as your playing advances.
      Beautiful tonality.

    One way to get around legato and attack retriggering is to sample the wave to another synth.
