And this is what some people need to understand, it’s not that these people want to be overweight - a lot of them use food to cope with really toxic/traumatic situations. They get to this point only because they don’t get enough help/support from actual people, plus the ones they do have often enable their behavior through complacency. There’s also the fact that being overweight and having an unhealthy diet causes mental issues alongside the physical stuff, which makes it even harder.

I have seen addicts up close....the common denominator in addition to the trauma seems to be LACK of GOALS in LIFE. Trust me, the only reason I'm not in a ditch somewhere is that I figured out early that I wanted to achieve big things in life and I made that the TOTAL FOCUS. I HAD to become successful. Started working 2 - 3 jobs at a time in my late teens....ground my way through college, never took summers off, always turned in 2x the work my instructors asked for. Graduated with honors. Moved to an expensive city to pursue more opportunities. Continued to work 2 - 3 jobs at a time til my mid 30s....five years later I still work multiple jobs as a freelancer. Its not easy, but I do what I want, and avoided getting dragged down by the depression I experienced growing up in a toxic home that had a lot of the things going on in as the guests on the show experienced. The only difference is that there wasn't anyone around to help me in any way or enable so I had no choice but to get off my butt and keep it pushin.

@@kittylee651 I understand being traumatized and seeking a coping method. However, when the coping method begins to impede your life, it is the individuals responsibility to change their coping method to something less life impeding. Be it thumb sucking like Adraras sister, or writing stories like my sister. It's also important the coping method is actually helping and not just trying to drown the issue. Which is exactly what Alcoholism and Binge eating does, mask the emotions.
I don't blame them for seeking out a coping method after trauma. But they ARE responsible for their coping method.

i have no sympathy, again and again they say yes i had a bad childhood, i was raped my mother was an alcoholic etc etc. But there are so many people out there in this world who also had a bad childhood, these people have not become fat or use alcohol. But now they are grown up and responsible for themselves, and wait until they weight 600-Ib and then shout for help !!
