My niece had gastric surgery and she was required to go through therapy sessions before the Dr would performed the surgery. Like many she was doing a lot of emotional eating. Thankfully she never got anywhere near the 600 lb level but she was big enough that it was affecting her health. Before having surgery she was still working a full time job in the ER plus overtime, caring for 3 minor children, along with doing all the household cooking, cleaning and laundry. She also handled all the household bills and car pooled the kids if they needed to go somewhere. She couldn't afford to end up bedridden so she did something about it. She was always exhausted and I could tell healthwise that she was not well.

What really, really irks me is that most are on assistance but have their hair and nails done and eat a lot fast food which is expensive. sure its hard, since 500 calories is like run 2km its not a big exercise but many people won't be capable of that, the 500 cal deficit is not that easy as you may think. you need to have willpower, even for not fat people that amount of calorie cut everyday requires a lot of work and measuring everything they eat along the day using a precision scale.
People mock me for watching Dr. Nowzarden, but he's the best diet I've ever been on. Whenever I watch the show, I don't snack after dinner. I don't understand how you can keep binge eating after your first lymphoma pop out.
They keep eating because they've become reliant on turning to food for their problems. A lot of these patients had rough lives as children which led to them using food as a sort of coping mechanism, and by that point they aren't ready to give that up even with the health risk.
Why go through all that work and waste the doctors time to get help. Doctor now can only do so much but the patient has to be committed to loosing weight.
I loved jt. I think the only reason he argued with dr now is because he was really depressed at that time. But after that he totally changed his attitude. I really want to so where he is now

If these ppl had to walk to get their own food and the only food available was fresh whole natural unprocessed foods... BOOM huge weight loss numbers in 2 months. Yummmm.... a nice big lettuce or spinach salad with a reasonable portion of light dressing/vinaigrette, as many tomatos/cucumbers as you desire. Few croutons. done. 1200 cals a day. thats only hard because these ppl are heavily addicted to gross foods. 1200 cals is like half a meal to them. Dr Now doesnt ask for miracles. He provides those. All he asks is that patients show they are willing and capable of making the choices to improve their own lives, and make surgery safe enough to do.

I was/am really addicted to food. I could just eat all day and hardly get full. My stomach constantly feels empty and all I want to do is eat. But, you HAVE to control yourself. There’s no excuse.
