My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.

@@sdoren_9074not true. Don’t speak of what you don’t know. Feeling full does not happen until you have eaten enough for multiple people when your stomach is this big. Feeling hungry happens often because again, your stomach is so big. Feeling hungry and accepting it while your stomach slowly shrinks is going to be a fact. But one has to push through it for health.

Knowledge is power, and I'm not sure these people understand autophagy, which is the body's way of literally “eating” itself. That is, the body will consume its own fat stores as well as unnecessary tissues, like extra skin, if you eat correctly. That, along with understanding how your body responds to intermittent fasting has changed my whole perspective. As these people gorge on sugar and carbs I'm so grieved, because they're just feeding their addictions and guaranteeing more intensive cravings. It's a downward spiral unless you take real action. Fasting and realizing autophagy really can help break their addictions/cravings for carbs. I know it's complicated, and therapy is absolutely necessary, as well as the patients' desire to work for it, but knowing certain facts could give them more hope. Jmo.

The same food she used to deal with the pain of losing her mom, is the exact thing that will reunite them early...
    Sadly ironic....

Its shocks me how different people handle weight, I weigh 450 pounds, but I look I weigh about 300 some pounds, probably due to the exercise and physical aspects of my line of work.

Why are these carers giving them such unhealthy food when they know that it is harming them.
Give them what they need not what they want.

I'm 5'0" and 145 lbs. and I feel huge, we have 3 daughters, and a son, the middle and youngest are very heavy, close to 300 lbs., the youngest just had the gastric sleeve put in a couple of months ago and so far, she's lost 50 lbs., we're very proud of her. Our son doesn't have any weight problems, neither does my husband. I might be seeing our middle daughter's son on this show, he's 20, 5'8" and almost 400 lbs. so is his dad, our oldest daughter is fine, her weight is normal for her height, she's 5'3". I do feel bad for some of these patients because some do have semi medical reasons for being big, a lot of medications make you gain weight.

What I always wonder, is, where are they getting the money to pay for all this food? Then I remember: oh yes, it is I,the taxpayer. And, of course, all you other taxpayers out there.
