My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss. - Розваги
Doctor, I usually skip breakfast and eat like a celery stick for lunch. I don't know why I'm 700 lbs.
It’s gotta be water weight. 😅
😭😭😭😭😭😭
@@twcrazy Damn celery full of water making me blow-up to 700lb.

Slow metabolism
“I’m swollen”
What is really disgusting is she states she isn't even hungry in the morning but she eats enough for a family of 5
Your lack of punctuation is disgusting.
Unt
They all say “I’m starving” their stomach is soooo stretched out they constantly have to shovel the food in but are never full. It’s like trying to fill a bucket one rain drop at a time.
It’s a double whammy. The bigger the stomach the more gherlin (hormone that gives you the hunger feeling) is produced.
@@JAWII Yep. It’s ok to be hungry. Self control is so important.
C'mon now, 9 out of 10 of these lords of obesity don't even remember what hunger feels like.
@@sdoren_9074not true. Don’t speak of what you don’t know. Feeling full does not happen until you have eaten enough for multiple people when your stomach is this big. Feeling hungry happens often because again, your stomach is so big. Feeling hungry and accepting it while your stomach slowly shrinks is going to be a fact. But one has to push through it for health.
I used to weigh 360. I lost in a matter of five months 152 pounds gained 25 pounds back and now I am back on track this week. I have lost 7.4 pounds. Nothing taste as good as thin feels I am no longer on blood pressure medication. I no longer have type two diabetes and I no longer have glaucoma. Don’t ask me where that went to. I don’t know, but I feel fantastic.
That's FANTASTIC. Your health markers are improving and that's the most important thing of all.
Keep going!
Keep track of your blood sugar. Diabetes is never fully "cured" even when it's well-managed.
I am so PROUD ..... of you! Well done!😊
Yes it does fully cure. It's based off your eating habits. It's literally physical. Not mental if you were talking about a mental illness. Yes a mentally illness is never truly "cured" just managed. But a physical illness that's based off your sugar intake as long as the person doesn't go back to the eating habits that caused it they will be fine.@@MoonsideResident
Well done you! What a journey 👍👍
The truth is that they live this way because they can afford it.
They have enablers, money, social benefits.
If they lived in a third world country they would lose weight in no time.
So so true!!!!
If you lived in a third world country, you wouldn't survive either
Yes, they are enabled.
the amount of money it would cost to eat the way most these people eat is insane. at minimum $50 a meal. i really dont understand how so many people can afford this type of living when they cant get up to work. working fulltime I can barely afford to buy groceries every week ontop of all other living costs. especially in today's economy. I'm lucky if I can order family meal takeout once a month. let alone 3 times a day.
But remember, it’s not their fault!
The carers ask them what they want to eat….. just give them a balanced diet, walk out . Done.
I’m not 100% sure but I’m pretty positive they can’t refuse to give them what they want for food and stuff cause they are being paid I mean by all means that’s what I do but I’m sure some of them can’t afford to lose their jobs
@@billburchill1222you’re right
Many times, it's family helping. They can just leave her with a plate of raw vegetables and walk out.
Feed them meat that a 0 carbs 0 sugar diet. And they can eat as much as they need.
@@billburchill1222 they're getting paid to care for them... whoever's paying the caregiver needs to fire these people.
That's not caregiving..they should be giving a certain protocol they HAVE to follow such as serving healthy normal portion size meals three times a day.
If the client doesn't like that the caregiver should move on to someone who really needs and appreciates the { proper} care.
We're do they get the money for all the food
Unhealthy food is cheap.
From the taxpayer, baby. Democracy at work
From the rest of us taxpayers paying all their bills because they're considered "disabled".
@@steveeymann6374I’m bipolar and epileptic and I was denied disability. Fortunately I was able to find a job that is willing to work with me. 😑
@@mgm8822look at the first woman: eggs, biscuits, bacon, grits. That is not necessarily cheap. Not necessarily unhealthy.
I wish I could feel sorry for these people, but I can't. Many of us have had strained childhoods, bad habits, and other issues. But we aren't relying on other people to wipe our butts. Grow up and get control of your life!
Exactly! They chose to get themselves into that situation and then come up with dozens of excuses for becoming that size. Then when it gets to the point they're facing death they look for an easy fix...which doesn't exist.
They all think that surgery will make them lose hundreds of pounds while continuing to eat like they always have.
Pathetic.
exsactly my point . she loves to blame this and that and the dr. millions , millions of children grew up in powerty and dis familys . she just dont want to change thats it . and belives the dr. can cure all her problems . all she has to do belive it herself .
Agreed, I’ve got a fucked up hip and achalasia, I cannot fathom how someone eats so much and moves so little, if I eat more than 2000 calories in a day I usually feel so damn guilty like I’m betraying myself, there’s no excuse to let yourself go this far, it’s really disgraceful. A lotta people need to realize that there is no magic cure all pill, everything takes effort and effort is painful and that’s something we all have to bear through.
Nah they don't need sympathy they need tough love, harsh reality truths. Don't need to baby them they aren't babies. Food is an addiction though so it does still have to be treated like any other addiction.
@@msbigdog1460 Many on the show do act like they expected to go under for the surgery and wake up at a healthy weight. I started my weight loss with the expectation of it took me X amount of years to get like this so it's probably going to take that many years to lose it all. So far I've managed to lose enough weight to kick me out of being eligible for potential weight loss surgery.
I cant. Eyelashes and a wig to sit in bed eating all day.
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
You know what I mean absolute joker 😂😂😂
It is ALWAYS funny to me to hear people in these situations talking about what they 'don't' eat.
Joyce said she is tired and exhausted from sitting in one place well someone else is washing and drying her for an hour and she is starving 🤔
She’s never starved in her freaking life
Selfish.
You know, the weird thing to me about these people is that the discomfort and pain they are in, due to their size, has to be substantial, and they endure THAT, but a little discomfort due to being hungry? NOPE, cant endure that. They underestimate their tolerance and strength.
In Supersize vs. Superskinny, the weekend they spend doing the diet-swap is exactly about that. The superskinny realizes how much they can eat if they really try and the fat person finds out that they can survive on much less, they can endure hunger.
@@gaborboth3602never heard of it. Gotta check that out.
The difference is that they have little choice about the pain.
It's easy to go to the drive thru or just grab chips and candy out of your stash.
I don’t know how Dr Now does it! He talks in such a matter of fact sing song way and never gets mad!! That woman in the wheelchair saying how hard it is for her to use her legs to get along, and there’s 78 year old Dr Now pushing that huge 700+ lb elephant!!

When I see something like that, I always waver between pity and anger at such people, especially when they use excuses.
Exactly
They live off of excuses. That's all they know.
They want you to take pity on them. Don't!! Nobody force-fed them 20k calories a meal.
It would be funny to see Charles and Joyce in a room together, battling it out with excuses.
and the winner is going to eat everything inside the fridge . they are full of excuses . they want some 1 to rescue them . just the easy way out . and then blame the dr.
Dawn and Joyce's mother are world-class enablers.
Every sentence out of Joyce’s mouth is an excuse.
Like 80% of every human beings
Joyce is maddening.
A week's worth of food for breakfast. Okay.
It's insanely unbelievable
How to become morbidly obese 101.
When you are extremely heavy like this, quite literally every thought revolves around food.
These people need something else to occupy their minds. Even a sedentary hobby like crochet or crossword puzzles will distract their minds and shift their focus, at least for a little while. It can't hurt.
I have never seen one of these 600 plus pound people read a book we're taking online class or even try to watch a documentary. All they care about is physical gratification. They have no feelings or regard for anyone but themselves and as long as their stomach is full and they are fed and cater to they would let the whole world burn The smithereens because they are the most selfish people I've ever seen I'm not being mean I'm only. Being honest
If only it were that simple.
May not hurt but I doubt it would help much if any.
Because the hair and makeup are helping.... it's so weird to me how they all seem to eat so dainty-like as if they're birds just picking away and nibbling at a salad. As if they're not eating enough food for a family meal. It's so bizarre!
This took me tf out. 😂😂😂😂😂
And not a single vegetable or fruit...all the food is beige and brown 😬
My thoughts exactly.
Expensive habits. Food ain't cheap
Its pathetic. They drain the ppl around thems resources and money. And the only thing the ppl say is “theyll get mad if i dont get them the food!” WHO CARES leave them let them get mad they cant get any food themselves. Id take all the food out the house and lock them in
**BEING THAT OVERWEIGHT IS YOUR OWN FAULT.

@@littlemonkey5696 ?
That's obvious no need to shout
Who's to blame, her and the people that keep feeding her
Ya. But I’ve seen those that live alone. Same thing
The amount of food this lady had on her plate would be more than enough for one meal for me, mu husband and 3 kids.
It’s always someone else’s fault! They need to change their mindset and attitude!
I love that Dr. Now ripped Charles’ ass.
It's easy for the family to help them lose weight if they wanted to because they are the ones who are feeding them and it's just as easy to feed them healthy foods because they can't get their own food unless they order out.
That's the funny part about this is that most of them are so immobile it's really no excuse for why their caretakers are bringing them bullshhh foods. Some actually go get their big butts up and go eat on their own whatshername, mya or something she had her boyfriend Chris helping her but she was still mobile bought to get dressed and pretend she was going to do chores but she was pulling up fastfood joints. So she was eating on her own accord.
Right you'd think family would use better judgment.
@@leeallred1337right? for paid caregivers they cant refuse or theyll lose their jobs, but the family doesnt face that kind of consequence for denying their every want
If you look, a lot of the time there's weight issues with the fatties who feed the even bigger fatties and then the poor children involved start getting fatter?
I love how everyone feels perfectly comfortable criticizing this woman for her faults while ignoring their own. Everyone has their own struggles in life, the difference is yours aren't being televised for the whole world to see. Don't judge unless you're prepared to be judged yourself.
Almost everyone has had hardship in their lives. Many of us have had a lot of hardship. At some point you have to make your own decisions and handle your business. I don't get to use it as an excuse and no one else should either. Obesity is 100% caused by and fixable by the person experiencing it. Id trade any one of them for my incurable spine disease. Im in immense pain every day but i still can't use it as an excuse not to work and take care of my family. Laziness and weak mindedness is their problem.
you sound ignorant
Well said👍❤️🇨🇦❤️
they belive dr. now is the cure .
Totally agree.
Have some compassion. These people clearly have some mental illness that manifests in overeating. Would you say the same about people with depression or schizophrenia?
Who pays for these caretakers? The state?
Yep and they are on full welfare and disability! These people are a prime example of how the government overpays these people in food benefits!
Yes, and the state’s money comes from the taxpayers. Most are probably on Social Security Disability and Medicare.
Yep. Our tax dollars wasted.
That is a goddamn disgrace
Even worse, imagine being a camera man and getting THESE gigs?? I'd suffer with PTSD.
One thing I can appreciate is these episodes decrease my appetite while watching them.
Yes, I am a little peckish and was going to have a coffee with some half and half, but decided peppermint herbal tea will suffice and then go to bed.
A show about the caregivers of these people would be a whole lot more interesting. What are these enablers thinking?
@@jackmccarthy2009 they probably cannot afford to lose their caregiver jobs, or cannot afford a place to live and need to live with their obese family members, doing whatever they ordain so they will not be kicked out. Actually, some of them are clearly in this situation. One of these patients had a partner who was elderly and on oxygen, and could not afford a divorce. Other had a vulnerable, mentally handicapped fiancé (he was eventually convinced by his family to dump the abusive woman, and she ended up homeless in the middle of a road).
Take a minute, SHE IS ONLY 37, I would not feel sorry for her and if she passed because she can't help herself when the support is there.
The food always comes from the caretakers and family. Just give a little less each time and get an air fryer. Won’t that fix things?
i would be so ashamed of myself if i could not wipe myself...
that would make me lose weight already...
Knocked up with twins? What a lovely expression 😢😂
He was just thinking about having to share his food. But that is the same brother who is now helping him.
Such a trashy expression. If my children had said something like that when they were five they would have learned real quick that I don't play that. Who Raised these people?? 🗑️
I am glad someone else found that unacceptable.
Holy cow, that guy Robert asking for 7 sausages in 1 bloody sitting is crazy :( Poor guy
One thing I just thought off, what happens if these people commit a crime? Like if they were to be incarcerated, would they have a caretaker in jail? A wheelchair? I feel like a prison wont be able to handle someone like her
House arrest. Basically they'd have to pay a bunch of money to be at home and wear a leg monitor.
exsactly your point . they get the weelchair but some 1 taking care of them ??? but belive me the food is not going to be limitless . and what ever you want . fat people go to jail . and they loose the pounds just like that . i seen couple of them before jail and during jail time boy they lost it fast .
They better not be this big tryna do crime wth 😂😭
😂.
What crimes would they be committing? Most of these folks can't walk more than 10 steps, bathe themselves, or even wipe their own asses! Not like they can hold up a gas station and make a quick getaway.
Can we have a moment of silence for Dr Now's stethoscope? 🦄
It’s a gold one it has special powers😮
@dcpmootown Silver would be better. It has antiseptic, antiviral and antibacterial properties!
Why is that camera man showing THAT angle?
We noticed that too. We know these people are huge, that camera angle makes it worse.
Because the person has been paid more to get to show it. Allegedly 😢
That's what I say!! We really don't need to see them in the shower.
Reality.
Because of the gravity of the situation.
That money comes out of the same social security that we all pay into, yay!
Meanwhile I've worked all my life and in 2001 when I was 31 years old I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and it took me almost 8 years to get approved for disability and I had to hire a lawyer and was denied three times. Meanwhile these people are approved within months because they never worked a day in their life. I still work part-time and paying the taxes to keep these people and feed them until they're so big they can't even move. SMH. Disgusting

She blames everybody but herself.
One thing that confuses me is why the normal everyday people in America don't stand up for themselves about the additives in their food if enough people got together the FDA and government would have to listen I am from the UK and have done ingredients difference in food between our countries food system and it's shocking
I agree! When a loaf of bread lasts a month without going bad, what is that telling you? That’s horrible!
I have a friend that worked for the BBC and he was sent to New York for an assignment for a month. He was overwhelmed by all the choices and differences in food. All the variations in milk, all the additives in food … I told him to stay out of the freezer/refrigerator sections and stick to the outskirts - the produce isle, meats, dairy … He was just so blown away!

@@angelacousineau5006 no it's not it's just normal humans just talk about this stuff and don't stand against the systems
I do stand up against all the junk they put in food or drink .but nobody will listen to what I truthfully tell them
These situations are so sad to me. I'm disabled and I understand some part of the pain and heartache they feel, but they must take control of their lives enough to control their desires. I used to be an alcoholic. Now, I'm as physically healthy as I can be, I take meds like the doctors tell me, and my weight is actually perfect right now. I used to be a little heavy, not like these poor people, but I was a little heavy, and now I'm a perfect 125 lbs. I'm a very small woman so this is ideal. It is extremely difficult to control your vices. I still want to drink sometimes, but each time I feel the desire when I'm at the grocery store, I just take a deep breath and keep on walking. You must do this with food, you pass up on one bite at a time.
Where do they get the money to eat that much? I bet taxpayers are paying all the billls.
ive wondered that myself . however, i can assure you the amount of foodstamps a 1 person household is not much.

aye going into joyces flaps like that without gloves is wild.
I think these patients should be on like a weight loss bootcamp style for about a month. Where they can only eat the foods perscribed by the doctor and also keeping a daily active routine to ensure they lose some or all the weight the Dr requested for them to lose. It seems like just sending them home to work on it themselves is not helpful in most cases
I agree with you but eventually they have to go home. It seems like a terrible cycle to be caught in.
They aren't medically stable enough for that.
They have to show they are committed to changing their eating habits. If they don’t, the surgery will be pointless.

I had a stage in my life where I gained weight from living a stationary lifestyle gaining weight to 600 pounds. I struggled with pain and stress in my body. I had to leave my career in Information Technology because of my obesity. I eventually got approved for Gastric Sleeve surgery and I lost 495 pounds in the first three months. By the one-year surgery mark, I went down to 130 pounds!

They all say that the dr and others, even family members don’t know how difficult the situation is for them. People do understand what a hard ship being that size is.
It’s a complex addiction. All the surrounding enablers need to be treated as to them coming to terms with the role they play.
Treatment for the patient should be like any other addiction treatment. A scolding doc is not gonna help much. Obviously, the patients are beset by a pathology of the brain, addiction. Peer support would be an essential part of recovery.

Knowledge is power, and I'm not sure these people understand autophagy, which is the body's way of literally “eating” itself. That is, the body will consume its own fat stores as well as unnecessary tissues, like extra skin, if you eat correctly. That, along with understanding how your body responds to intermittent fasting has changed my whole perspective. As these people gorge on sugar and carbs I'm so grieved, because they're just feeding their addictions and guaranteeing more intensive cravings. It's a downward spiral unless you take real action. Fasting and realizing autophagy really can help break their addictions/cravings for carbs. I know it's complicated, and therapy is absolutely necessary, as well as the patients' desire to work for it, but knowing certain facts could give them more hope. Jmo.
Exactly. They are carbohydrate addicts, but the carbs just keep increasing their cravings for more carbs. And so on, and so on.

Sometimes there are those who just want someone to make it happen for them. It's a painful experience to face how hard it will be. They know eating healthier &less is the only way &they will be hungry. But it can't be done by another person. Now can do nothing until it is safe.
Much respect to those who listened and worked so hard to make it happen.
Im amazed that these people have anyone who is not paid, to wait on them habd and foit and clean them 24/7. I won't know how in the hell the big dude ever got in the plane.

You can do it!
Its gotta be really tough for the dr. to see these people not follow his instructions and sabotage his time and work involved trying to help these folks. Sad. Thanks Doc. For at least you try..
None of these people would have gotten into that condition without their enabling “caregivers”. Some are family, which doesn’t excuse their behavior, but some are licensed caregivers. Their license should be revoked. I’m not excusing the patients choices that got them to this state, but they all are dependent on others to prepare meals.
All these monsters have a excuse why they look the way they do , always cry for the way they look
It makes interesting viewing but why even care about them seeing they don't care about themselves. Each and evry one of them is a complete waste of resouces and time IMO
They want doctors to wave a wand and fix what they did for a lifetime.
This is demonic. How can a person be in so much pain, yet food takes the pain away? This isnt even close to being right. These people need the Most High so they can be delivered from this demon of addiction.
Dopamine.
And the sin of gluttony.
The same food she used to deal with the pain of losing her mom, is the exact thing that will reunite them early...
Sadly ironic....
Whinging, whining, I am a victim blabla. Its disgusting.
@ 9:56 🤔 Huh?!? I think majority of us rely on it through out the day as well. 😂

When I see Charles walk I keep thinking that weebles wobble but they don’t fall down.
I think he has dwarfism.
Its shocks me how different people handle weight, I weigh 450 pounds, but I look I weigh about 300 some pounds, probably due to the exercise and physical aspects of my line of work.
Dr now don't play! I love it !! You ate enough for next 4 years you will not starve!!! Lmao 😂❤
These types of eating habits begin with parents allowing these type of disorders to begin with their child. Being hungry is in their heads..
Why are these carers giving them such unhealthy food when they know that it is harming them.
Give them what they need not what they want.
Did I mishear him or did he say he managed to get him mom knocked up with twins?
This is exactly why I came to read the comments. I was wondering the same thing.
He nonchalantly said he knocked up his mother 😮😮
@@loribruzzese6627 And I can't find anyone calling it out in the other comments. LoL
@@loribruzzese6627 I heard the same. Hmmmm, I’m perplexed. He said it so nonchalantly too right?
That's what I THOUGHT I heard! Then I was like nah, must been a mistake maybe he said mom got knocked up? How strange
A guy his mom was dating, lol.
I'm 5'0" and 145 lbs. and I feel huge, we have 3 daughters, and a son, the middle and youngest are very heavy, close to 300 lbs., the youngest just had the gastric sleeve put in a couple of months ago and so far, she's lost 50 lbs., we're very proud of her. Our son doesn't have any weight problems, neither does my husband. I might be seeing our middle daughter's son on this show, he's 20, 5'8" and almost 400 lbs. so is his dad, our oldest daughter is fine, her weight is normal for her height, she's 5'3". I do feel bad for some of these patients because some do have semi medical reasons for being big, a lot of medications make you gain weight.
What I always wonder, is, where are they getting the money to pay for all this food? Then I remember: oh yes, it is I,the taxpayer. And, of course, all you other taxpayers out there.
You're an adult! Act like one!!
Have you ever had an addiction?
obese people arent disabled.
Those eye lashes make her look 400lbs thinner.
