Looks like you did a good job. I am doing a 90 Bronco. Five speed . Is manual transfer case. Is manual Is lock out. Is going from EFI to carburetor. I like simple things. It even has the original 410 Slip POSI. Is frame up restore. Should be a nice truck when done. Hopefully this summer.
Hey Dirty Dan where are you located in Florida ? I'm in Florida too and fixed to do a I6 4.9 fi swap to a carb 5.0 in my 95 F150 and would to do mine like you did yours with a few changes tho, since my wife and daughters don't drive a manual I'm swapping to a auto, I have an C4 but would consider a aod swap over the C4 for od,
I use an Aeromotive 13301 regulator on my 2012 Mustang (351W stroker runnign a Sniper) and my 1964 Fairlane (429 running a 750 double pumper). Both cars are using Walbro 255 LPH pumps. You need a return line fort he regulator I use. You should probably use AN fittings/hose at least on the pump side of the regulator. The line between the reg and the carb can be regular rubber on hose barb fittings. As far as the 1-inch pressure gauge on the regulator goes, I have not found one yet that did leak after a little time, so I moved up to a 2-1/8 mechanical gauge that's bolted to the fender well that seems to be holding up just fine.
If you want to keep the efi when swapped to the 5 speed, just pull the shift module off the automatic trans and leave it plugged in zip tie it up out of the way and it works with the auto cpu
I'd keep the front tank as a jerry can, to feed gas into the rear tank , when going long distance , or just find gas at a good price , you can "stock up" on some extra gas . with its own gauge and switch .
You could have put a T in between the return and supply and out the middle of the T put the regulator before the carb this way you won’t have so much pressure because it’s circulating right back to the tank like it was originally designed for and you can still use both tanks as well
Kinda sounds like how i had it set up previous to this and its hard to find a pressure regulator to regulate the pumps down to carburetor pressure it was nice having the two tanks but i honestly like just having one now and i have the same capacity as i did when i had two.
Summit Racing recommends an mechanical secondary for manual trans , i went with an Edelbrock Avs 650 cfm on my 95 351w efi to Carb and Accel Super Coil 140001 , kept the front tank as it now only feeds the rear 38 gallon tank I installed for greater travel distance , in the rear I went with a 1987 pump at 6 psi , front one remains at 41 psi . consider upgrading to a high flow reusable air filter . and a oil catch can at your PCV valve . still putting it together as i am installing gt40p heads .
I wish i went with a mechanical secondary maybe in the near future and the tank setup sounds sick i went with just standered gt40 heads so i didnt have to get the special headers but your setup sounds sick brother!
My entire wiring is rotted out and the previous owner messed up a lot How should I go about managing the automatic transmission for 96 f150 since the entire computer and electrical nerve system is pretty much dead? Got the appropriate intake manifold put on and a lot of fire hazards ripped out But because of that I no no longer have wires going up to the coil pack from the wire harness and I'm not sure where those really plug in from and I'm not sure how the automatic transmission functions if I'm going to install entirely new wires for a full carburetor old school type of thing
How are you coping with the ethanol fuel? About to drop a mild Windsor in my 96 with a c6 and was curious how everyone who done this is handling e10 or e15.
My engine is low compression so I don’t really have any issues with it and the big engine bay keep the vapor lock and fuel boil away and I drive it regularly have had no issues with the ethanol fuel our fox body need ethanol free gas though to help prevent fuel boil and vapor lock.
@@dirtydans4753 this one is also low compression as well. Have you tried a plastic carb spacer and routing the lines as far from heat as possible. Hard on a foxbody I know. I have an 83 myself
@@philliphill3787 haven’t tried a spacer yet but rerouted the lines and swapped back to a mechanical fan and to ethanol free and that solved most of the issue don’t have a cowl hood so that the reason we haven’t do a spacer yet and our air filter is big so there is not much room but if issue persist then might have to try that.
@@dirtydans4753 one I just seen on an old Ford trucks enthusiast thread suggested insulating the fuel lines with that aluminum foil stuff a lot of the A/C stuff on newer cars use.
@@philliphill3787 that is a good idea we have been tryin to think of something to help insulate the fuel lines the keep them cool if we start having fuel boiling trouble again we will probably try insulating them.
No I got rid of the high pressure one. You can get a regulator to regulate the pressure down but it’s kind of a hassle and I just did the holly for simplicity.
I used the stock throttle cable and bought a aftermarket bracket from the auto store my trucks a manual but i think the bracket i bought had a hook up for a aod transmission.
Yes but wouldn't recommend on a engine that isn't built but yes ive pulled to 5500rpm but i didn't go any further because a wanna keep the engine in one piece lol.
Like 13 to 15 mpg just depends how heavy my foot is but lowest I’ve seen is 12mpg and that was towing a car trailer from u haul with a mini cooper sport on it.
Dirty Dan....PLEASE help me... i have a 95 ford f150..I'm looking for a new drop in crate engine.. but it's hard to find 302 5.0 I don't mind swapping my motor to your just tell me what I need

Summit Racing recommends. Mechanical secondaries carb for manuals .

Did you recurve that distributor? Aftermarket distributors come with way too much timing advance which is not ideal
I changed the springs and the bushings to give it the right amount of advance.
Do you have a link to the distributor ?
How is the coil ran
what sending unit did u use in that fuel tank?
Can you carb e 40d automatic
You’ll need a stand alone transmission controller. I use quick shift 4
I know this is an older video, but how is that distributor holding up, any issues with it?
It is holding up great so far no issues. We also have one of these in a fox body and no issues with that one either.
Did you leave the high pressure pump hooked up and then the Holley limits it down or what?
No I got rid of the high pressure one. You can get a regulator to regulate the pressure down but it’s kind of a hassle and I just did the holly for simplicity.
Which Holley pump did you use?
Question? What bracket did you use for throttle and aod shift and if stock bracket? How?
I used the stock throttle cable and bought a aftermarket bracket from the auto store my trucks a manual but i think the bracket i bought had a hook up for a aod transmission.
Can you rev it higher than 5000 RPMs now ?
Yes but wouldn't recommend on a engine that isn't built but yes ive pulled to 5500rpm but i didn't go any further because a wanna keep the engine in one piece lol.
@Dirty Dans it's not your engine it's your valve train. My 331 stroker has seen 6400rpm a time or two.
89 dump truck is getting a swap ..
What transmision are you using ??
M5od manual transmission. The strong manual transmission is the zf5 but those are harder to find for sbf bolt pattern.
What kind of mileage are you getting?
Like 13 to 15 mpg just depends how heavy my foot is but lowest I’ve seen is 12mpg and that was towing a car trailer from u haul with a mini cooper sport on it.
@@dirtydans4753 Ok thanks. I'm trying to decide if building an f series for towing boats is worthwhile so I appreciate the information.
