My dad carb swapped his 89 vert (now mine) by using the method of just unplugging the salt and pepper shakers, keeping the computer tfi wiring for spark, and stock efi pump with monster regulator... it worked great! And I appreciate that it made it super easy for me to refit EFI back onto it once I inherited the car.

That’s a lot simpler than I thought it would be Brother! Seems like the most expensive part would be the carburetor if you are just doing the swap! 💯 I absolutely agree on the MSD products lately! Great job with the voiceover! 👊🏾👊🏾

@@BREW2LFOXBODY That is crazy!! Things that make you scratch your head!!😁 From what I’ve read on MicroSquirt… it’s a very simple install which makes it an even better option than MSD. 😎

Yep on the msd, stuff is junk. I’ve got a new coil, faulty. Older 6al2 box. Just went out couple weeks ago. Freaking sucks. I know the new box is gonna be junk. Not even gonna waste the money on it. What’s a pain is before the coil went out, I was having all kinds of drivability problems, long starts, and it ended up being that new coil. I put the old motorcraft one back on and is been running fine.

@jcnpresser I've had some bad luck with MSD. Foxbody coil,3800 coils(3) lasted 6 months bf ALOT of random misfires. Foxbody coils are just dead. But I can say I had a 6AL & BTM last years so I guess it's just a gamble.....

If you're living that true budget lifestyle, a Ford Duraspark 2 box, a factory ignition coil, and a factory 85 distributor will make the conversion easy, and it'll all cost about the same as 1 piece of MSD equipment. It's also very easy to adjust.

@@jvincemusic my son's car, an 82, originally had a flat tappet cam, which requires a bronze distributor gear. But we put in a roller cam, which requires a steel distributor gear. I carb swapped my 93 lx hatch and I highly recommend progression ignition’s distributor with the racing features. You can change the timing, rev limiter, 2 step launch rev limiter, nitrous retard, etc all on your phone through their app on the fly in real time. It also has a built in kill switch. Definitely an amazing option for anyone going to a carb

Awesome video! Unfortunately I can't ever have a carb set-up or even a smog/cat delete on my cars. My state is heavy into the government smog/emission testing and are only getting worse by tighting the limits each year. They even have mobile testing stations at a lot of the freeway on ramps that sniff the tailpipe and take pictures of your plate.🙄

Got my distributor locked out, learned that trick from you and mine is fuel injected still. With the bigger cam in it, it seems to run better. I’ve had anywhere from 30-38 degrees and have had no starting issues. I’ve got around 32-34 right now, seems to be the best for what I’ve got. I slowly collecting the parts and money for a carb swap. I want cylinder heads also though. I think the car would run better with the cam that’s in it with a carb. Heck I have to baby sit in the morning till it gets done heat in it. Idles kinda crappy. Im so over the factory fuel injection 😅

I live above 5000 feet altitude. you want fuel injection up here. in the summer, a carb car is harder to start when its hot. no problem with fuel injection. also, great drivability in the winter with fuel injection, better than a carb on start up . however, if you want a carb, this is a nice set up. looks kinda like a holley clone carb. very nice.
