That is an Electric Shift, and requires Premium Blend Gear Oil. The Sped is Type C which is what the Premium Blend is. Beware though, some 3rd Party Oils say they are Type C, but then say, not for Electric Shift Motors... I wonder what Prop was on it as the Rpms sound low. WOT Range is 4000-5000 rpm, and it is best to run them in the upper half. That is a 63, so the Oil Ratio Spec is 24:1, but in 64 the spec was changed to 50:1 and there were no changes to the Engine Mechanically. The Auto Choke is Water Heated, the Heat Exchanger and Bimetal is in the Starboard side of the Engine on the Carb The Control box might have interlock in it to limit the Lever travel when the Reverse Button is selected. It has been almost 50 yrs since we had a Motor with that Control
Forsale
Its a "ripper"....love it. Memories of when I was a kid. These engines were all over the place in the 60's
Omg. At least dont video yourselves showing the world how little you know about boats and motors. It’s less costly and smarter to watch people on video who know what they are doing and then just imitate them! Lucky you youngsters have years of time so you can gain real knowledge from older people who know how to do things. Watch more utube! In the mean time please don’t kill yourselves.
definitely a wow wow wow
$300 ?!! What a A-hole ! 🤣 LoL, the trailer is worth that! Nice score!
I inherited an old Evinrude (either 65 or 67, I dont remember) that had been sitting in my uncles back yard for 18 years at the time, and I got it running. Ended up scrapping the thing tho, but it was nice to hear the similar sounds.
What a dummy.
DUde.. you do know you just took the bolts out of the water jacket and NOT the cylinder heads right? The jacket covers do NOT need to come off. The pistons are designed to be wobbly at the top end. They are a TAPERED skirt with the bottom being slightly large than the tops. However the scoring has to go probably a .030 or larger bore NOT JUST HONING lmao, the bottom piston is wrong size lol. I would bet someone had it bored and then put a standard piston in a hole that was bored at least .010 Find parts on ebay guy. That engine will last forever if taken care of. Wonder now what you did with it.
😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤ love the old boats i will help you with those moters rebuild them all my life😮😮😮😮😮
I found an early 70s open runabout like this in the early 90s. Set it up with a yamy 90 and kept it stripped down as a dive/ski boat. Great fun knocking around down in the Keys in that old log. Back then they were still figuring out glass and everything was overbuilt
I bet that motor isn't running but about 60% of it potential I can't wait to see what it can do when yall get it running right and the boat in better stronger shape I bet that boat will definitely move up to 30ish at cruising speed with no problem.
Tourqe is 18 to 20
Good motor till u got it they are steps
Isn’t it easier to work on the motor on your driveway? Buying ears is cheap and hassle free
How does that truck drive in park 😂😂
Before doing this you maybe could have watched Mustie1 or NNKH service a boat engine.
Guys the camera is jerking around too much.
I'd keep the front tank as a jerry can, to feed gas into the rear tank , when going long distance , or just find gas at a good price , you can "stock up" on some extra gas . with its own gauge and switch .
Why do you need to change the distributor
That clicking is the primer pump
Put some sea foam in it will be helpful
I’ve got a 1965 sears 170 run about inheritance from my grandfather and the last time it was on the water was 94 it has the original Johnson 75hp super seahorse… any advice or problems you ran into with the boat itself I’m in process of trying to get it back on the water and get this old motor fired up
Do you have a parts list for this project? I’ve never attempted this before
awesome....can't wait to see more on this restoration....
Dude u do not need to be working nor being on a boat owner 😂😂😂. But i guess good content somewhat. Much love to ya from Maryland❤❤❤
I think your buddy blew up your motor but running it through the mud. Just my opinion tho I’m not an expert
I am, 55 years as a marine specialist. mud is not the problem and it was not overheated. he has a hidden problem on cyl 3. it has zero to do with this trip.
Those bearings are gone
Are you guys anywhere near South Carolina? I got a 1962 merc700 outboard I’m trying to figure out
That thing shifts so quietly
Do you have a link to the distributor ?
DO NOT use Clothesline, it is not Flexible Enough, nor Strong Enough to last very long, and it is only a short matter of time before it will break.
Can you carb e 40d automatic
You’ll need a stand alone transmission controller. I use quick shift 4
Let's go get the ho's... Then big disappointment.😮
Redneck Backyard mechanics !
Hey
I use an Aeromotive 13301 regulator on my 2012 Mustang (351W stroker runnign a Sniper) and my 1964 Fairlane (429 running a 750 double pumper). Both cars are using Walbro 255 LPH pumps. You need a return line fort he regulator I use. You should probably use AN fittings/hose at least on the pump side of the regulator. The line between the reg and the carb can be regular rubber on hose barb fittings. As far as the 1-inch pressure gauge on the regulator goes, I have not found one yet that did leak after a little time, so I moved up to a 2-1/8 mechanical gauge that's bolted to the fender well that seems to be holding up just fine.
Brains trust
I have the same setup gen 6 bbc and same exact cam. My boat is 22 feet bravo 1. What pitch prop are you running? I can only get 51 mph
I have a 22 and 19 pitch for elevation. At Utah lake I can get 51mph on the 22pitch
Hi Dan. What was the oil to gas ratio of this motor? Was it 50:1 or 25:1 ? Thanks
Modern 2 stroke oil is quite a bit better than the old stuff so we were running it at about 46:1. Any where from 50:1 to 40:1 should be good. We ran it at 46:1 just to be safe.
Ok. Thanks again.
My entire wiring is rotted out and the previous owner messed up a lot How should I go about managing the automatic transmission for 96 f150 since the entire computer and electrical nerve system is pretty much dead? Got the appropriate intake manifold put on and a lot of fire hazards ripped out But because of that I no no longer have wires going up to the coil pack from the wire harness and I'm not sure where those really plug in from and I'm not sure how the automatic transmission functions if I'm going to install entirely new wires for a full carburetor old school type of thing
Yo that units a ripper dude!
Awesome, they don't build em like that anymore and it's only going to get better. Nice job.
Hi. Where did you find the motor flusher for that engine. I've got a 1965 60 h.p. Evinrude Super Four.
The motor flush actually came with the boat so I’m not to sure where you could get one bit since these motors are so old might be hard to find them now.
Ok. Thanks. I appreciate your quick response. Also, how did the motor turn out for you?
I haven't tried to start mine. Is yours still running?
@@damaniryan1632 it was running okay but my brother wanted a little more power so he upgraded to a 88 special.
Hi Dan. Did you have a hard time selling it?
If you want to keep the efi when swapped to the 5 speed, just pull the shift module off the automatic trans and leave it plugged in zip tie it up out of the way and it works with the auto cpu
Did you leave the high pressure pump hooked up and then the Holley limits it down or what?
No I got rid of the high pressure one. You can get a regulator to regulate the pressure down but it’s kind of a hassle and I just did the holly for simplicity.
Which Holley pump did you use?
What kind of mileage are you getting?
Like 13 to 15 mpg just depends how heavy my foot is but lowest I’ve seen is 12mpg and that was towing a car trailer from u haul with a mini cooper sport on it.
@@dirtydans4753 Ok thanks. I'm trying to decide if building an f series for towing boats is worthwhile so I appreciate the information.
Thanks for the concision 👍🏻
Did you recurve that distributor? Aftermarket distributors come with way too much timing advance which is not ideal
I changed the springs and the bushings to give it the right amount of advance.
Man I see these all the time for a few hundred dollars and I always consider it.
