Yesterday I cooked Dubu-jorim for me and my partner and we both LOVED IT! It is my first korean dish I cooked and it was so delicious I feel like a whole world has opened up! Thank you for always being so nice and a true inspiration, regards from Sweden.
Tofu is a blank slate. You can make it soft into scrambled eggs, with black salt for the sulfur immitation of normal eggs. Or very crispy by pressing all the water out first, and then pan frying until golden like Maangchi did here, and it absorbs sauces well too. So it's whatever you want it to be. It's not exactly a meat replacement since the texture is softer, but it's a great overall protein replacement. And very healthy. The entire block of tofu in this recipe is less than 400 calories. That's crazy. Add in some rice on the side and you have a very low calorie, nutritious and delicious meal.
After successfully making kimbap, I decided to make Maangchi’s braised tofu. What a treat. On its own, the braised tofu was excellent. Crispy, juicy, tender inside. When placed on top of rice...extraordinary! Something unique happens when the sauce on the tofu melds with the plain rice. Very delicious umami flavour, reminiscent of bibimbap I had in Koreatown restaurants in Toronto.

@@crystalbeharry6977 Kikkoman IS vegan, and liquid aminos are great alternative. Its always good to read the ingredients first anyways :) Good luck to all vegans reading this.
Crystal Beharry you're an idiot. soy sauce is vegan. Kikkoman soy sauce is made by brewing soybeans, wheat, salt, and water. After the ingredients are brewed, they are then fermented for several months. The only difference between Kikkoman and other soy sauce providers is that others may use sweeteners and artificial coloring. Despite that difference, most soy sauces out there are vegan.
I made this all of the time and I always come back. Thank you so much for these videos. I've been watching you for years and I got better at cooking because of you
This was my first time cooking tofu and this recipe is amazing, this is how I adjusted it to my taste the second time around. I skipped the salt because the soy sauce was enough for me. I really liked to onions, green onions, and the garlic mixture with every bite of the tofu so I doubled that up. I wanted the dish to be a little milder so I halved on the pepper flakes. This dish is even better the next day when the flavors have married. You can have it as a cold or warm snack, yum!!!
I was thinking the same thing as I watched this. I eat toful a couple of times a month and usually make scrambled tofu. I'm ready for something new! I'm going to use your suggestions ... thanks!

It is so good, I want to eat it right off the pan! 😍🤤 Thank you for this amazing vegetarian recipe, Maangchi!
I love this recipe! The sauce is so versatile. I didn't have ground pepper but always have gojuchang (red pepper paste) Wich was a great substitute. I added potatoes with the tofu and they soaked up the sauce deliciously! And rather than fry I squeezed out the water, sprinkled with oil, soy sauce, and flour and then oven roasted at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Soaked up the sauce and so delicious‼️
THIS is the flavor I've been looking for since my living/ travel days in Korea and WESTPAC! WELL DONE! (And she's funny!) However, 2 things: 1) Needs more sauce! I doubled the sauce part...OUTSTANDING! 2) The tofu needs to be cut thicker, so you get the crisp outside and the soft inside! I cut them into Lego-sized pieces (3 long cuts, 2 across cuts, flip on side and cut in half.)

This is the first Korean dish I cooked and it turned out so good! Thankyouu.
Great!👏
I ordered gochugaru online but I couldn’t get tofu in my local shop so I made the sauce and put chickpeas in it instead and it was delicious. The sesame oil really completes the flavours. Thank you Maangchi for your delicious recipes!
I literally know the recipe by heart by know by the ammount of times i watched this video, but still come back just for the commentary.
You are such a wholesome person, its awesome haha
I first tried other recipes on the internet for this dubu jorim and I really couldn't catch the right recipe and the right taste. But I tried yours and this is the best ever. It's so gooooood and so easy to do. So thank you 💕💕
Glad to hear that! Happy cooking!

This is the best tofu recipe ever. I used a teaspoon of sriracha , instead of the tablespoon of chili powder. It turned out great for me. Thank you 😊

I have just found your channel 2 days ago and I love your channel. Today I make this tofu for break my fasting. It's really easy. Thank you for your reciepe maachangi, you make me can cook delicious food without spending much money 😋😍
Where has dubu-jorim been all my life?! I love this with rice. Unfortunately I can't eat onions or garlic due to FODMAP issues so modfied it using garlic oil, green onion and pak choy instead. It probably tastes different but its still absolutely delicious. thankyou for your amazing recipes.
Introduce garlic and onion slowlycinto your diet and ensure they are thoroughly cooked.. I had fodmap issues too but slowly I am able to digest small quantities and eventually bigger .. all the best! Phwaiting 👼🏻✨
hey babes try asafoetida probably not as healthy as onions or garlic but it works nicely in most dishes it is almost kinda like artificial chicken flavour but then oniony heck I even use it in onion soup.
This is the most delicious tofu dish I have EVER eaten. Thank you so much Maangchi!
👏 Thanks!
Indonesian caption is available now thanks to one of my viewers!

In fact, TOFU is still much popular...commonly used in my country, the Philippines. Very nutritious food indeed. Next time when I go home to my native land...the Philippines , I will surely gather the main ingredients...then prepare and cook this YUMMY recipe. Thank you very much my dear. I really enjoyed your vlogs/videos. And you are just so lovely... cute and lively and jolly...bubbly as a Cook/Chef.
Your vocabulary is amazing! Well done. Please do not lose your delightfully accented English. It adds a special seasoning to your already spicy recipes!

From the first 10 seconds, already loved her personality. She's like the fun aunt you go over to who let's you use her oven and mess up the kitchen while you're at it but she's just so happy you're there.
I made this today to take in my lunches this week. I kept a few pieces back for today...sooooo good!
Wonderful!
I saw this recipe in the morning, and made it just now.
It turned out SO good, that I had to come back here to comment and subscribe.

By far one of my favorite tofu recipes. Just made this again for dinner tonight. Thanks for sharing ☺
Glad you liked it!!
I made this few times and it's my favorite tofu recipe. I can eat it wrapped in rice paper with other stuff, or with lettuce or just on it's own with rice, even without rice it's just so delicious
I can’t get enough of your voice! Great video!
I randomly bought tofu the other day but had no idea what to do with it. I've always enjoyed Korean dishes with tofu so i looked up some recipes. This turned out delicious! Thank you for sharing your joy of cooking with us. 🎉

This was great. Easy to do and very tasty. I have been buying it already prepared at the Korean grocery store and paying over $6.00. Never again! Thank you so much!
Great! Happy cookiing!
Adoreable presentation. Can't wait to try the dish. Thank you from Texas.
I've made this recipe before, and it's soooo delicious! I don't eat onions and garlic, so I avoided those and used ginger instead - it was still phenomenal. Had it with rice and some stir-fried courgettes
Wow wow wow this was delicious. I’m a college student and this was super easy to make in my small dorm. Definitely will make again!
