Maangchi, I have made this so many times since I first watched it! This is one of my favorites, it is soooo delicious and easy to make! Sometimes I just crave it out of nowhere! So I always keep a pak of firm tofu in the fridge so I can make it any time!!

I've made this twice already in the past week. The first time I made it I was in a very bad mood, but once I tasted it I just found it impossible to be grumpy anymore. I've been amazed both times I made it that a recipe so easy to follow could result in something so incredibly delicious, especially when I use the air fryer to crisp up the tofu! Also I've found that toasting the pumpkin seeds in a dry pan until they're browned and making popping noises gives them an extra nice aroma.

May - I've turned a number of people onto tofu. I explain to them that you have to understand it. Tofu is like pasta - it's a blank slate (ever eat cooked pasta with no salt? it's horrible!) so you have to do something with it. Once they get that concept the door cracks open a little bit more. A good (male) friend who went vegan at 68 (now 79) was very wary of tofu. Now he can't get enough of it - especially siracha or sesame tofu, his 2 favorites. The other secret - I don't say the word tofu. I call it a "bean dish". So "crunchy sweet-N-sour bean dish". Later on I say the word tofu: "Oh ya, you can also call it tofu, but it's so much more than that". :-).

@@g.e.boroush5176 Wow I have never thought it that way! My bf did complain of how bland tofu and tempeh are (while I am used to eating them that way).

Because those tofu recipe in the US or in europe you can normaly find, are not made by asians, who has been using this ingredient for millennia. Also the tofu itself is dry and crumbly when it is made by company run by american/european corporations.

I began cooking Korean 20 years ago when I moved to Seoul. Once I was adopted by a young Korean couple (who had no dad) and I became their adopted dad, that meant I was always cooking something for them. So, I had to learn Korean food preparation. It was hit and miss from the start as well as my own inventions combing American food with Korean products. I struggled and they ate! Of course we ate out often which was much of my learning. Street food was also lots of fun.
Now back in the US, watching your videos make me reminesce and home sick for my kids back in Korea.
    Thanks for the memories!
