My last job + the summer heat sucked the life out of me, which left my hair very neglected and in poor shape. Now that I've been one-week free of that job, I'm ready to re-start self-care routines that fell by the wayside, including a scalp reset! I have a scalp treatment and a scalp oil that I never use, but now I have better ideas on how to incorporate them!
My goal is to set myself up for not only the next job that comes my way, but also the concert I'm attending at the end of next month! I don't need a glow-up, but it won't hurt, either! Crossing my fingers that between your videos I've been binging + following through actual practicing, it'll be smooth sailing once the day of the concert comes along!

I just have to say-you continue to motivate me to keep trying and keep learning about not just curly hair in general but mine specifically. I’ve learned absolutely so much by watching your videos. You’ve inspired me so so so much and I deeply appreciate you and your videos! So incredibly grateful!!!! ❤ You motivate me and teach me so much and I just want to learn more and more about hair. People like to watch TV shows and movies and let me say I love chilling on the couch with a good TV show BUT watching your videos-I learn SO SO SO SO much which to me (hair being my favorite thing to learn, to do, to wash, everything ❤) and to learn all the different products that are good and bad, and especially watching you make jokes and have fun with everything is so funny and entertaining and watching you and your sister, Amanda is so great you guys are sweet and funny and I just love your videos so much. Thank you. Thank you so so much. ❤❤❤

@@minnitreez333 I thoroughly mix ½ cup aloe juice, ½ cup water, and 2 Tbsp rhassoul clay with 3 drops of peppermint essential oil, and 3 drops of lavender essential oil. I squirt this liquid all over my scalp, and cleanse with a silicone scalp scrubber, then squeeze the liquid through the rest of my hair. I squeeze my hair lengths all over a few times, then rinse. I repeat the whole process, then I rinse again with a VERY diluted mixture of water an about ½ a Tbsp of apple cider vinegar. Then, I rinse out the ACV mixture.

@@minnitreez333 I wrote a reply, but it disappeared? I mix ½ cup aloe juice, ½ cup water, 2 Tbsp of rhassoul clay powder, 3 drops of lavender oil, and 3 drops of peppermint oil until all the clay is dissolved into the liquid. I put this mixture on a squirt bottle. I squirt my roots with the solution, then wash with a silicone scalp scrubber. Then I squirt the mids and ends, wash lightly with my fingers, and squeeze out the liquid. Then, I rinse with water. I repeat the whole process, then I rinse with a very diluted mixture of water and apple cider vinegar, maybe 2 teaspoons of vinegar to a cup of water. Then, I rinse with plain water one last time. I do this about once a week.

Thank you for adding that some of us are a liiitle early in our hair journey to worry about brushes, lol! I recently cut my coarse wavy hair because it was soo stiff and dry and ...I was mad at it, I confess. Then I finally used a chelating shampoo and suddenly my conditioners conditioned. Also, I added Eva NYC's Smoothing Cream and wow, suddenly soft hair. Buuuut unfortunately, my hair is still in a pixie and therefore has limited wave/curl. I'll have to focus exclusively on its health a while longer. Lesson learned.

This video is filled with so much great advice! Thank you for taking the time to make it! Your tips have changed my curls and I couldn’t thank you any more. My question is how would I know if my hair is healthy enough for brush styling - I have been doing it for a while and I am happy with the results and my curl pattern from it but my hair could definitely be described as a little more tame. Maybe that’s just because it’s not nearly as frizzy?

Hi, I'm really enjoying your videos! I have learned so much and have watched and rewatched some, taking notes, lol. I have a few questions, please.
1- if a second cleanse is needed, would you use the same Briogeo product or a different gentler shampoo?
2- where in this routine would you apply a blow dry cream such as Redken frizz dismiss rebel tame? Would a blow dry cream also be applied in sections and brushed through like a leave in? Do you apply before the foam gel?
3-would you apply hair oil the next day on your ends?
Thanks so much, and happy belated birthday!!! I hope your party was fantastic!

I love you and your channel!! ❤️I recently had cancer and lost my hair. It’s slowly growing back really curly so I’m hoping to have it as healthy as possible. At the moment it’s around 2-2 1/2” long. I purchased a bonnet, continuous hair spray bottle & curly hair products.

You are a brave woman. Good job! If possible, could you please make a video on regrowing naturally curly hair after chemotherapy? After having long hair my whole life, I lost it all during chemo. My hair is back (thank goodness!), and I now have a curly pixie about 3.5 inches long after seven months. However, it is almost impossible to find anything useful on the internet about getting through the awkward stages back to long because any search that includes "curly" just gets straight-haired women oohing and aahing over their chemo curls. Any advice you can give would be hugely appreciated by all of us coming back from beyond. Many thanks!

I use a pretty cheap oil (vatika) but my hair always feels so good after (I do have to wash twice with it). Sometimes I am too lazy (or depressed) and I end up spreading the wash (Oil and detangle night before, bonnet away, wash next day) over couple days. Acc using oil is the only time my hair looks greasy so it motivates me to wash it where when it's just dry and frizzy I can justify putting it in a rough bun

Can you speak more on oiling before showering with people who have seborraic dermatitis? And maybe even breakage? I have very fine and thin hair that is wavy. I feel like my hair breaks so easily (especially at the crown area) and it can be discouraging for me. I ask about the oiling bc I’m nervous that the weight of the oil would be too heavy for my hair… but I also want to be nourishing my hair and keep it strong so that breakage doesn’t happen. Any tips and tricks to prevent breakage for my hair type would be great! Thank you for all your knowledge and help!

You absolutely can!! Use what you got 🙌🏻🙌🏻 just be careful not to burn yourself! Don’t go too close to your hair and use for 1-2 minutes on each side of your head. You decide if you need to add extra product but it typically reactivates what you already have in there!

Can the amount of frizz look different in certain lighting? Cause whenever my hair is dry after washing it already has some frizz but I never seem to see that online. Also I love that your doing different videos other than just hair!

Hi Mell! Love your videos, thanks a lot for your and your sisters’s work! ❤ I’ve learned so much from you
I’ve got a question now: why didn’t you use your hair oil(or serum) in this routine? Have you simply forgotten to? Or you didn’t want to do it because it’s a ‘reset’ routine, to not let any build up already?
Would love to know the answer)
With love, from a teenage curly girl😊

Hi lovely!! So a couple reasons! 1, i went to bed after drying and wanted to keep the cast in my hair while i sleep to help keep the shape a little stronger overnight, but 2 the gel was already pretty soft hold and i didnt need one to scrunch out the crunch. and then 3 i was staying in; if i was going out (into humidity/col/wind) i would have applied some to protect my strands. But yes i wanted to keep it clean :) i hope that answered your question!! Thank you for watching

Instead of using the k18, can you just apply a regular mask and/or conditioner? Especially for someone with really dry ends? Do you follow this routine year-round or only for the winter? Do you recommend and routine for a reset during the summer?

I have a disturbed scalp! I LOVED Aveda's old scalp line and am considering getting their new scalp range. I've tried the treatment and the serum and want to try the shampoo and conditioner. Hoping you can review this soon!! I'm trying to figure out how cleansing their shampoo is. I'm using the BounceCurl clarifying shampoo and it's ok but I still get scalp acne WOMP WOMP.

Who cares about the pits? Anyone who does is just a jerk. It's just hair. Embrace it. We all deal with it. Apologizing for it is just promoting the stigma. You are beautiful. I wouldn't even have noticed had you not pointed it out.

Remember that people can be really weird online. Idc if people in real life see me with hairy pits, but I also would not want images of my hairy pits on the internet.

Hi! So the other times during the month that you wash do you use a regular shampoo and only clarify once a month? Also do you do oil and scalp massage before every wash? ty!

Hi Mel ❤ Question for you: I recently got curly bangs and I’m struggling to find a good way to sleep and plop with them. Right now I’m not using a bonnet and pineapple-ing the length of my hair in order to keep my bangs out. If I put them in a bonnet they get scrunched up and I have to re-wet them to stretch them out every morning (something I’d like to avoid). Same goes for plopping so I haven’t been doing that at all, though I liked to for about ten minutes prior to getting bangs. Any advice? Thank you! ❤

Just saw you on here and I’m intrigued. I got a perm about 2 or a bit more months ago. Do you suggest doing this routine for perms? I have pretty long hair, 1/2 way down my back.
Any other suggestions for me. Thank you for the laughs.

Love this video Mell! But i have a question tho. My the hair on my crown area is another texture, it's more brittle and the curls don't get as bouncy and juicy as the rest of the hair does. Do you have any suggestions to what i can do?
