Finally someone who touches on the fact that our hair is going to be different every time we wash it, and it doesn’t have to be perfect. I noticed that I was obsessing and comparing my curls to other people’s curls. I would go out there and buy so many products and waste money. I am now accepting that my hair is going to do what it wants to do, I am 61 years old and there are some factors as to why my curls are going to be different from day-to-day. And all those products that I purchased and didn’t think would help me, well, I’m using them and adding water and they work just as well as the next product.
Curly haired 64 year old here, never really felt that I was blessed with good hair. I usually finger comb it. It still has a tendency to frizz. Not to mention, when I’ve worn it short, it resembles a Brillo pad! When I have length to my hair, it resembles long strands of steel wool! Yet, when I work on it with the right products, I’m actually impressed with how my curls flow! I feel it makes a big difference.
@@luannconsentino1188 I can admit to having an assortment. LUS for curly hair 5 pc. set that I was using, yet, I put it aside because I didn’t like the outcome. Once I watched this video, I went back and used the products in that order along with their deep conditioner (leave in) in place of the serum. It turned out full of curls with good bounce to them. Recently, I bought Shea solutions from the dollar tree, their frizz free curl mousse. It’s really lightweight and defines my curls beautifully! This one is made in turkey and it’s three dollars. Lastly, curlicue cream by Maria Nila is a recent product I’ve tried and I was really surprised at how my nice my curls turned out. I think it’s around $23 when I looked it up online. My hair is very fine, fortunately, the curl makes it look very full. It’s a matter of experimenting with products and finding what works for you. They say that after a while, the products stop working and you have to switch anyway. Good thing I have so many different varieties
Thank you! I would love it if you showed how you diffuse your hair! Thank you so much for the confirmation. My hair is never the same even with the same products and same styling! Phewww!
Thank you! So much about curl care is complicated, time consuming and expensive. With 2 small kids I don't have a great deal of time in the morning to style my hair, so this was a great video.
I love your philosophy of our curly hair and not comparing ourselves to others. It is very hard to do but very true. I would love to see how you diffuse your hair!
Great video, thank you for this! I have also fallen for the curly hair product trends, causing me to spend more than I needed. It was lowkey stressful. It took me some time but I’ve learned to experiment on my own and embrace my hair in the process! Also, what oil did you use for your hair? And do you have any drug store recommendations on oils that help with casting and moisture without the greasiness effect? I’m also curious if your hair is fine, medium, or coarse? Mine is coarse, which can be a pain to deal with sometimes lol.
I have been using Verb ghost oil for the past two years and that is also what I used in this video and recommend exactly for what you mentioned! Gives great shine, is lightweight and helps with frizz. Smells amazing too. Not sure if it’s considered drug store but it’s relatively affordable! My hair is fine- medium. Products weigh my hair down easily. Thank you so much for watching :)
New curly hair sub here! I never liked using a diffuser, although, when I saw yours, it looked interesting. I don’t know if I could get you to share what brand you have?
Wow, you have beautiful curly hair which I am guessing is on the finer side as far as hair texture, if you can suggest anything for coarser curls please do!
No matter what method I do, my hair always comes out frizzy. But I do not have one thing that everyone has, a curl mousse. One thing for sure, when I wash without shampoo or conditioner, my hair coils is near perfect. I'm slowly giving up now
Maybe your products are too aggressive or you manipulate too much whilst styling your hair. Theoretically, frizz means dehydration. Keep trying, it takes a while but you'll get there 😊💪🏻
I am just now starting to get the hang of my hair. I have realized I need both moisture and protein, so I always layer my products. I shampoo twice with relatively gentle products - the first one has either aloe vera or glycerin, the second one does not. My first wash I use a scalp brush, the second one I just use my hands. (I have been trying out the Soapbox keratin and raspberry oil shine boosting shampoo recently for my second wash. It does not help with volume, but my hair is significantly less frizzy with this product.) Then, I rinse out the shampoo and squeeze out a little bit of the excess water from my hair before applying my conditioners. I use a product with glycerin first to draw in moisture and then a conditioner with protein on top to help with my hair's ability to hold on to that moisture. I "squish" that into my hair, then I detangle. I squish some more and clip my hair up while I shave. Eventually, I rinse that out focusing on my roots. Then I put my hair in a microfiber hair turban while I put on lotion and get dressed. Finally, I take my hair down and brush through some leave-in conditioner, adding water to my ends if needed. This is when I determine where I want my hair part (I have long, thin hair). Finally, I hold my curls and shake them out to help them form clumps while using my hair turban to squish them and encourage them to stay in place. I do not use heat on my hair or gel as it overstimulates me, but this is where you would want to glaze over your hair with a gel or serum before diffusing. ❤
@@4651adri thanks so much! I've been very gentle with my hair but the products are not good enough I suppose. Plus I live in a hot & humid country, my hair is almost always dry. Even with the weekly mask 😂
@@littlekyle love just how passionate & committed you are to your hair! 😍 I too realized when I diffuse with medium hot air, frizz tends to get worst. I should probably start air drying instead. Thank you for all the tips! I shall try your method, you curls must be shiny and stunning!
@@sarnaseven19 You are so sweet. I hope my method works for you. If you use a serum or mousse on top of your curls at the end (so it is not too heavy to air dry like it would be with a thick gel), your curls will hopefully be able to strike a good balance between curl definition and volume. The more product you add, the less frizz you will have - but your roots are bound to be flat if you have thinner hair like I do. If you are most concerned with definition, I would apply the products to fairly wet hair - but know that doing the bowl method as many do could potentially wash away too much of the leave-in to help you. ❤

I have had curly hair for 55 years and have never brush styled it. Products have got a lot better over the past 20 years.

For what it's worth, I think it turned out beautiful!
I never used a brush on my hair when damp. That’s how you get breakage. I used a wide tooth comb very gently from the ends up.
Gorgeous! This was super easy to watch. 😊
I appreciate it!
Your hair looks gorgeous. I'd be ecstatic if my hair turned out like that! LOL Please share your diffusing technique.
