Late upload but good things are worth the wait! Amanda poured her heart and soul into both my hair and editing this video. I hope this makes you smile and learn something new! Comment your rating after each contestant, I want to know what you would score them 😂 pop your popcorn and enjoy! 🍿✨❤️
Great video! Loved how everyone had a different technique to do that your hair but Amanda definitely did the best with your guy coming in second. Loved it!!
The fact that he prepared, watched your videos, and took notes just goes to show how much he cares. Your bf is too sweet! This was fun! I would love to see an update where you start with a class, and then they compete again!
In all seriousness, I really love how you asked Anthony open ended questions to get him to critically think, shows how much of a teacher you are at heart 😊 Even though he was like a deer in the headlights with a brush 🤣
I broke my arm several years ago and had no one to style my curly/afro hair except my boyfriend. He didn't even attempt it, he payed for me to get braids at the hairdressers and I thanked him for it 😂❤️
Lol your brother was me my first two years going natural. I was like man someone should just come up with a curl starting line and name the products, 1, 2, 3,4.
Honestly it was nice to see that even your hair can look bad if not styled right etc… I thought you just had perfect hair always… but nope the techniques work. Loved this video and your fam was cute 💐
It’s really interesting to see how your hair looks when it’s not in its typical juicy curl state we’re all used to. You really have the styling skills down and I feel like we’ve all been taking it for granted. Amanda gets a 9.5! Why did she get any further deduction? I looked great :) Lucas really tried and we’re all proud of him! Everyone just didn’t know how very wet to get your hair I guess.
This really shows how unintuitive styling is and why so many (including myself!) give up on their curly hair after not getting results they're looking for! So grateful to have you and Amanda as an educational resource!! You both are doing so much to help so many!!
I actually did learn from their mistakes. You make getting your curls luscious looking so easy. They had to work to get those curls...for the ones that got them. I may be able to use those mistakes to do mine a little better! Kudos to you, Mell! You were allowing them to touch your beloved curls. I don't have that much faith in my loved ones!🤣😳🙄
I learned that while the right products for your hair type are important, it's definitely more important that you know how to use the products correctly when styling!
“You’re better off adding more water before you add more product.” Such a simple yet super helpful and powerful statement. I’m always learning something new from each video. Thanks Mell!
Thanks for the laughters Mel...I am struggling with depression and some little health concerns and your videos always lift me up a little bit and help forget the problems for a while! Loved how the brother meticulously avoided to give any attention to the front piece, after all it's not like it's the most visible, face-framing part of your hair 😂
This was 110% a collaboration of love! Obviously, seester won…but everyone else’s participation had me laugh crying with empathy. I had a cast in high school in the 90s and no one in my fam had curls. I had everyone and their brother wash and condition-didn’t even get close to styling. You clearly come from great stock. Speedy healing to you, and thanks for being a bright light!
I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! Amanda is definitely the clear winner in my opinion. My family could absolutely not style my wavy/curly hair in an emergency. Your brother killed me putting all of the product in one spot and on your scalp. Your mom definitely had you rocking with the 80's fuzzy half up do. All you needed was some leotards and leg warmers and your next video could be a workout with 80s music. Your boyfriend didn't do too bad. He at least remembered some important steps. I would have given Amanda a 9.5, your boyfriend a 7, your mom a 3 and your brother a 1.
I am a ponytail mom too and a mom of four, two of which are teen daughters. Let me just say that your mom is AWESOME and she deserves praise for a job well done. Your style looked like my maid-of-honor's hair from 1993. All four stylists were great sports. 👍❤. So many LOL's.
Watching everyone around you try to do your hair just reminds me how impressive it is that you taught yourself how to make it as good as it always is. Great video Mell!
Today I learned three hands are not always better than one 😂 but in all seriousness, I learned to have an appreciation for all the people who did what they could with the information they had to help me have clean and styled hair as a child 🥰
Amanda was an "A" student Anthony deserves a participation 🏆 Mom brought you back to the 80's Lucas did a great 👍 job. Love the notes. You have amazing friends and family surrounding you to do this for you and entertaining us. Heal up soon.
I'm over here cracking up watching your brother style your hair and telling my hubby I hope I never have to ask him to style my hair, lololol, I'm in tears!
This video was hilarious! Amanda did a good job, mumsy did a good job for someone who hasn’t touch Mel’s hair, Anthony so cute for trying. I was surprised that her boyfriend did a pretty good job. This video made me think about what I’m doing right vs wrong. I can’t wait to watch more and learn as I go
Oh goodness, you are one brave girl allowing anyone to touch your curls haha, I was cringing the whole time and was ducking my head when you did HAHA.....I felt your nervousness deeply!!
You are such a trooper to let other people do your hair!! I could never. Your brother and boyfriend were so hilarious and your mom was so cute. Hope your healing well!
This was a great way to show that it doesn’t matter if you get the most popular products, but it matters if you know what you’re doing with them. I have wavy hair and I’m still on my journey to figuring it out.
I have been binge watching your videos for over a month and got some additional styling products and tools. My curls are looking better than ever thanks to your Prep, Style, Finish method, using a silk pillowcase and bonnet for sleeping. This video was so fun and yet painful to watch. I could see your stress level skyrocket when your brother was doing your hair and my heart broke for you. I am glad you survived it all you are such a trooper. Hope you heal up fast so you can get back to taking care of your curls. You are blessed to have a family who loves you so much to participate. @Amando Guido - you weren't "Average Amanda" in this episode, you were the hero!!! You two make a great team. Thank you for all your effort in helping us on our curly hair journeys. 🥰
This was a terrific video just because it helped me recognize HOW MUCH I have learned over the past several years. Even just your mom's understanding of the role of water and brushing... Here's the thing... I remember as a little girl trying to explain to my mom that she should brush out beginning with the ends, and she never understood. I'm probably about your mom's age, so it's not generational. What is it about becoming a mom that makes you forget what it felt like to have someone brushing out your hair? Is it being in a hurry and wanting to just get through the hair that makes you decide to brush from top to bottom, not bottom to top?
Lucas just melted the hearts of the curly hair community…I mean, “industry”…everywhere. Now I’m so curious how my husband would do in this challenge. Pray I never break my wrist 😅❤.
This is amazing😂 It wasn't really fair going up against Amanda, I mean she was going to win from the start. Your face when your brother was doing your hair was so horrified and your mom was so proud of herself, it was adorable (and hilarious). Lucas is clearly into the curls industry so he must be right. Thank you for this lovely video❤
I love this dark hair on you. Entertaining video! I'm laughing so hard I'm literally crying on the section with your brother. I hate having products on my hands, too. And I totally get it from Moms point of view. My son is curlier than I and he gets dreds in just 1 night if the curls are mishandled. It's why I came to this channel.
Haha! I LOVED this vid... your brother had me in stitches! 😆 Your mum did a gentle version of what my mother did to me back in the eighties and your boyfriend was so sweet for trying so much, bless!
This proved for me that styling really is key. If you’re using the right products wrong it will not end well. Also Mell you’re very brave for letting everyone else take the reigns with styling your hair haha I do not trust my family
Girl, I feel your struggle with the one handed thing. I’m 6 weeks after shoulder surgery with several months of therapy and stuck in my sling body contraption for a few more weeks. Annnndd I’m two weeks into my wavy hair journey. Yesterday I defused my hair for the first time ever… I just learned last week what that crazy looking attachment that came with my blow dryer when I bought it 20 years ago was used for. However I could not find the one for my old dryer so being inspired by one of your videos, I used my pasta strainer.😆 I looked as ridiculous as you might imagine, but I got to see a little bit of what my hair can achieve but only on one side cuz well I couldn’t reach the other. Thank you so much for making these videos, they are so helpful. ✨💖✨
Lol my husband is literally ALWAYS commenting that he can do my hair no problem… “they literally show you step by step “ 😂 Archiving this vid for future reference because I KNOW he would be on brother level and confident that about his work 😮 So cute! Love that the whole fam was gracious enough to help you.
Anthony applying huge blobs of multiple styling products to the same spot on Mel’s head while giving his best shot at justifying his choices is gold lmao 🤣
It's like watching my mom doing my hair! She's also a ponytail mom! Also, she hasn't touch my hair since I was like 11years old, after she cut my hair way too much because she thought that was the only way to make it less frizzy. Tears fell.
Loved this! And you're right, it is a very beginner-friendly video. :) I've been casually following CGM videos for a couple of years now (late to the party as usual), but admittedly did not change a whole lot of my old routine, because as a mom of three autistic kids, after watching some people literally scrunch their hair for 45 minutes (and that's only scrunching)...ain't nobody got time for that! I have learned so much from you just in the couple of days since I discovered your channel. I'm going to slowly start building up my hair products and trying some tips (but probably will still go semi-casual cause again, I got my hands full and rarely get uninterrupted time for self-care!
I knew styling methods matter, but this definitely helped me learn more about exactly how things like order of products & placement of products impact the outcome in different ways!
I gave Amanda and Lucas the same, mom I gave a 5 cause she did try and thats like a mid way thing. Anthony did your scalp dirty though XD Id have given a 3 just cause I still think it could of been a lot worse =) This was really fun though, and a great way to show beginners what not to do. Im a beginner, so super appreciated.
Hi ladies! I’m adding key learning 3/3 here: I learned that sulfates and silicones are not the enemy as long as you use them properly. I owe a lot to you both and I’m happy to see you so successful!
Once I let my fiancé brush my hair. He hit a knot and put his other hand against my head while keeping the pressure on the brush and started counting 3... 2... 1... Panicking I screamed NO at the top of my lungs and he was like: Whaaat? That's how you do right? 🤷♂️ He thought you get knots out of your hair by pulling/yanking harder and was counting down so I'd know it was coming in case it hurt... He was literally about to pull that chunk of hair right out of my scalp 😱
That was fun to watch! I think your brother was a good sport! Your mom was adorable! Your boyfriend was cute with his notes! Your sister did have a huge advantage! Last of all, you were courageous!
Om goodness your brother had me laughing all the way through, I loved Lucas with his cheat sheet lol this was the best video Hahahaha 🤣 Lucas calling out the work environment hahaha code orange ... love it
Hilarious video i need to watch more these!!! 😂 made me realize how much work we put into our curly hair!! Nobody knows what we do until they do it themselves
omg your face when your mom was gonna comb your hair TOP TO BOTTOM…..instant flashbacks to sitting on the couch with my hair drenched in Infusium 23 & my straight-haired mother doing the same😂
That was a fun ride. Hilarious in parts. Not so sure it was as much fun for you.....one thing is sure. Your BRAVE to let your bro anywhere near your hair....😍🤩🤩
This was so funny! I had tears. No one in my family ever knew what to do with my hair. It wasn’t until the 80s that products were made for curly hair. Even then it was trial and error. Stylists did not know what to do with my hair either.
I like that it highlights how different curls can look by using different/wrong products and techniques. I wonder how much my own mess would improve if only I figured out what really makes them happiest. Some days they look fine and others are bun-days, because the same routine just doesn't work out (it's pretty 50/50 to be honest). So far your videos have helped A LOT though. Anyways, I got a trim yesterday and I now own a fringe that ends in the middle of my forehead. The stylist did not consider that the lessened weight would make them much bouncier. Looks awful and I'll spend the next few weeks trying to hide that mess somehow.
What a fun video to watch. I have to say Mell, you were brave.. lol.. I love how prepared Lucas was… he gets extra points for that ❤. Anthony was funny and I always love seeing ponytail mom❣️
Mel: "How are my ends?" Anthony: "They're... they're curly." lol. This was so much fun to watch, and honestly, whether or not you intended it, a great "dos/don'ts" lesson, with so much variation in knowledge!! (Oh, you said it like 2 seconds after I started writing my comment - you're right - definitely helpful, and many thanks to all your (semi)willing participants!!) I know the technique your brother's doing at ~11:28 lolol I have done that too many times. That's called the "wiping the product that got between my fingers off haphazardly bc idk" technique Yes to the codenames shoutout!! lol
I love how the one thing you told your brother was to not put products in your scalp and he proceeds to put literally 10 different products right at the scalp! 🤣
Mell, you are so brave to do this. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. My ranking was in the same order as yours. I am impressed with Lucas' attempt. He may not have all the knowledge, but you can tell he pays attention. 😊
Hello! I’ve been off of curly influencers pages for a while BUT I’m back now! Oh Mell! What did you do to your arm sweetie??? Makes me remember when I broke my knuckle and fractured 2 bones in my right hand. A cast just like yours for 3 mos! The accident happened on Valentine’s Day about 5yrs ago I think.
It physically hurt me when your brother did your hair!! I’m proud of your mom! I think she did a good job! I think she deserved a way higher score! and why was Amanda’s so low??
Bro, those product globs on the scalp 🤣 my stomach still hurts from laughing. I agree Mom deserved more for rolling Mel back to 1982 - and she was so so sweet.
This was absolutely hilarious! And honestly quite informative in its own way. 😂 Also, Anthony straight up SPRITZING the oil into your wet hair made me physically flinch. Poor guy.
Late upload but good things are worth the wait! Amanda poured her heart and soul into both my hair and editing this video. I hope this makes you smile and learn something new! Comment your rating after each contestant, I want to know what you would score them 😂 pop your popcorn and enjoy! 🍿✨❤️
So when you're brother has sex he only uses one hand 😆? 🤔 I guess all that he needs is Manuela 🤌
Great video! Loved how everyone had a different technique to do that your hair but Amanda definitely did the best with your guy coming in second. Loved it!!
I would give your brother a 9... just for making me laugh so hard I almost peed my pants! 😂😂😂
@ 27:28... Did I miss his instructions in the discription?
Just watched this video last night. It was so good and funny!😀loved it! Mell you and Amanda are awesome, and beautiful!!
The fact that he prepared, watched your videos, and took notes just goes to show how much he cares. Your bf is too sweet! This was fun! I would love to see an update where you start with a class, and then they compete again!
In all seriousness, I really love how you asked Anthony open ended questions to get him to critically think, shows how much of a teacher you are at heart 😊
Even though he was like a deer in the headlights with a brush 🤣
I love that thank you ❤️ I really hope this video was as helpful as it was entertaining 🤣 thanks for watching xoxo
I broke my arm several years ago and had no one to style my curly/afro hair except my boyfriend. He didn't even attempt it, he payed for me to get braids at the hairdressers and I thanked him for it 😂❤️
Lucas doing your hair was the sweetest! The way he really tried warms my heart ❤️
Happy texture Tuesday! Sorry for the late upload… this took longer to edit than expect but I hope you enjoy!!❤
You did great sweetie it’s worth the wait
You did a fabulous job editing! I can only imagine what didn’t make it into the video 😂❤😢
We don't mind waiting for greatness! 😊
🤣🤣🤣 The masculine obsession of concentrating products on the top of the head! WHY???
I guess because that’s where they apply products on their short hair😭😭😭
i laughed soooo hard at this comment bc it’s so true lmfao
Lol your brother was me my first two years going natural. I was like man someone should just come up with a curl starting line and name the products, 1, 2, 3,4.
Honestly it was nice to see that even your hair can look bad if not styled right etc… I thought you just had perfect hair always… but nope the techniques work. Loved this video and your fam was cute 💐
I love how Lucas knows how much Mel cares about her hair so he wrote notes. That's the sweetest thing ever ❤️
It’s really interesting to see how your hair looks when it’s not in its typical juicy curl state we’re all used to. You really have the styling skills down and I feel like we’ve all been taking it for granted.
Amanda gets a 9.5! Why did she get any further deduction? I looked great :)
Lucas really tried and we’re all proud of him!
Everyone just didn’t know how very wet to get your hair I guess.
Your brother cracked me up!!!! You said the frizzy hair was "dry" and he immediately said "oh air dry cream"
I’m so so happy that you enjoyed the video AND learned a few things! I have faith you could do a better job than contestants 2 and 3 🤣🤣
I learned that while the right products for your hair type are important, it's definitely more important that you know how to use the products correctly when styling!
Wish I could thumbs up x1000. A soft two for your bro?! He tried so hard! I cried and learned. Loved it! X
The 4th guy is awesome, lol! He knows how to articulate what he's doing and why - love him!
Amanda: 10 (the best)
Anthony: 1 (for being willing)
Ponytail mom: 4 (heart of gold)
Lucas: 8 (came with notes and motivation)
This was hilarious! The brother’s technique was so funny. Especially when he draped your hair over his arm 😂😂
I've learned that I definitely need to teach my husband how to style my hair in case of emergency!
I liked your moms styling! 80s are in!!
Amanda was an "A" student
Anthony deserves a participation 🏆
Mom brought you back to the 80's
Lucas did a great 👍 job. Love the notes.
You have amazing friends and family surrounding you to do this for you and entertaining us. Heal up soon.
Aww love how Lucas studied and everything 🥲💕
I'm over here cracking up watching your brother style your hair and telling my hubby I hope I never have to ask him to style my hair, lololol, I'm in tears!

Your BROTHER cracked me up!!! God love him for being willing to do this!!!
This was a great way to show that it doesn’t matter if you get the most popular products, but it matters if you know what you’re doing with them. I have wavy hair and I’m still on my journey to figuring it out.
I was LITERALLY SO ANXIOUS WHILE WATCHING EVERYONE DO YOUR HAIR (except your sister she did great) like I was scared
It's nice to watch other people do you hair and show how important it is to have your technique right. X
Broother Anthony. Please. Both hands. Use both hands. Please 😂. Everyone did amazing btw
This was a terrific video just because it helped me recognize HOW MUCH I have learned over the past several years. Even just your mom's understanding of the role of water and brushing...
Here's the thing... I remember as a little girl trying to explain to my mom that she should brush out beginning with the ends, and she never understood. Marry that man, omg! So sweet. To take notes & have a great attitude about something that means so much to you, he’s a keeper!
Right? I was already imagining your funny, intelligent, curly children while watching Lucas do your hair and the interaction between you two. 🥰
They broke up
This was so good. And it really demonstrates that TECHNIQUE MATTERS! Thank you for teaching all of us. 😊😊😊
I have to say Amanda deserved a 10 she nailed it!!!!🥰😁👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I like mumsy’s creation. The softer less defined curls. I think she did good!
Hey! Sees... that man is a keeper. I totally see my husband trying this much. He did his homework and prepared. Nice to watch!
Haha! I LOVED this vid... your brother had me in stitches! 😆 Your mum did a gentle version of what my mother did to me back in the eighties and your boyfriend was so sweet for trying so much, bless!
This video reminds me of being younger and going to get my haircut from hairdressers that have no idea about curly hair.
I’m in bed recovering from surgery and had to pause cuz laughing so hard it hurt. 😂 lovely family and bf you have.
This proved for me that styling really is key. If you’re using the right products wrong it will not end well. Also Mell you’re very brave for letting everyone else take the reigns with styling your hair haha I do not trust my family

Anthony gets a 10 for entertainment value!
And Lucas too, how cute that he studied for the task!
Anthony applying huge blobs of multiple styling products to the same spot on Mel’s head while giving his best shot at justifying his choices is gold lmao 🤣

Watching Anthony trying to do your hair had me dying 🤣
I learned the importance of a curly hair specialist who knows what they are doing and can teach me maintenance care like you both!
Just watched this. Of course your sister won this. Anthony cracked me up!!
I love the notes!!! ❤❤❤. He paid attention.
The look your mom did is giving school picture day vibes 😂
Hi ladies! I’m adding key learning 3/3 here: I learned that sulfates and silicones are not the enemy as long as you use them properly. I owe a lot to you both and I’m happy to see you so successful!
Prep --> Style --> Fabulous!
I mean, basically 😂😂
Once I let my fiancé brush my hair. He hit a knot and put his other hand against my head while keeping the pressure on the brush and started counting 3... 2... 1... Panicking I screamed NO at the top of my lungs and he was like:
Whaaat? That's how you do right? 🤷♂️
He thought you get knots out of your hair by pulling/yanking harder and was counting down so I'd know it was coming in case it hurt... He was literally about to pull that chunk of hair right out of my scalp 😱
Oh my God that is horrific and hilarious 😂😂😂😂 thank you for sharing
This video was just hilarious! One of my favorite parts were the faces you made! So glad you have such willing participants to help you!
Not surprized Amanda won this. Also very proud of Lucas for doing so well! Even if he did use a cheat sheet. ❤
So funny and ... you were soooo kind to your Mom!
ANTHONY LOL Everything he applied went in the same exact spot I was dying!
JAIL
I had a flashback to the 80s with your mum's style. That's what I looked like! Bless her. A pair of pink fluorescent earings (or green 😉) and tadaa!!
That was fun to watch! I think your brother was a good sport! Your mom was adorable! Your boyfriend was cute with his notes! Your sister did have a huge advantage! Last of all, you were courageous!
Om goodness your brother had me laughing all the way through, I loved Lucas with his cheat sheet lol this was the best video Hahahaha 🤣 Lucas calling out the work environment hahaha code orange ... love it
I was quite impressed with the boyfriend! You have taught him well...ish. 😁 "In the industry" 😊
Your Mom is so cute 🥰 She is so enthusiastic to do your hair just like when you were a child
well, my mom used to dry brush my hair and put mousse on it lol
I loved all the contestants ❤
Anthony won most of my LAUGHS 😂
Hilarious video i need to watch more these!!! 😂 made me realize how much work we put into our curly hair!! Nobody knows what we do until they do it themselves
The expertise amanda brought in comparison to everyone else! This video was HILARIOUS! ❤️
omg your face when your mom was gonna comb your hair TOP TO BOTTOM…..instant flashbacks to sitting on the couch with my hair drenched in Infusium 23 & my straight-haired mother doing the same😂
Oh wow I used to love infusion 23 what seems like decades ago! Is it still around?
I wonder if weather has anything to do with your hair looking different on different washes. I know the weather where I am affects my hair a lottt
I’ve also learned if your hair is frizzy wet, it will be frizzy dry. So adding water is key! (3/3)
🤣🤣🤣🤣oh my goodness, both guys went for the scalp firrrrst!💀
I learned that curly hair takes dedication and continued learning to make sure our hair stays looking good and healthy!
What a fun video to watch. I have to say Mell, you were brave.. lol.. I love how prepared Lucas was… he gets extra points for that ❤. Anthony was funny and I always love seeing ponytail mom❣️
Ohmygosh, ponnytail mom is adorbubble!! I love her!
Mel: "How are my ends?"
Anthony: "They're... they're curly."
lol. This was so much fun to watch, and honestly, whether or not you intended it, a great "dos/don'ts" lesson, with so much variation in knowledge!!
(Oh, you said it like 2 seconds after I started writing my comment - you're right - definitely helpful, and many thanks to all your (semi)willing participants!!)
I know the technique your brother's doing at ~11:28 lolol I have done that too many times. That's called the "wiping the product that got between my fingers off haphazardly bc idk" technique
Yes to the codenames shoutout!! lol
I love how the one thing you told your brother was to not put products in your scalp and he proceeds to put literally 10 different products right at the scalp! 🤣
I’m so sorry about the cast but this video was such a great idea! I’m laughing my absolute face off here hahahaha
Thank you to Lucas and your family for being such great sports in making this hilarious video. I really enjoyed it!
This is the best testament to what you've been teaching us all along mell. That styling technique matters most when it comes to styling curly hair!
Also, Anthony straight up SPRITZING the oil into your wet hair made me physically flinch. Poor guy.
😅🤣😂😆 wow hands down funniest video upload mell
Amanda is the winner 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
