I’m very confused with this pattern, I started off good, but I’m confused about the jumping back and forth with the pattern. I absolutely love the look of this hat. I would love to make this. I think everyone could use a step by step tutorial on this hat.

Truly an interesting hat! Coming from a surgical background, I find that recognising "stitch anatomy" is as important in crochet as it is in surgery! Failed to recognise some important anatomy in my first two attempts, frogged, corrected and think Im getting there! Thank you so much for the pattern

Definitely want to try this pattern. I refuse to make a hat from the bottom up because I hate they way they look all bunched up at the top, but I love making top down hats with their smooth finish. This pattern offers that smooth finish in such an interesting way. Thank you so much for this pattern and video!

Thank you for sharing the pattern and for all your tips!

Thank you very much for making this pattern available. The pattern really does look interesting. I am hoping to crochet a hat for my youngest son. He does appreciate the effot I put into hand-made items. And we unfortunately have been alienated from each other due to unforseen circumstances, so I try to make special items for him so that he has as much of my love in every stitch that I can put into it. He actually asked me to make a hat for him. He has hopes and plans of starting a YT Channel as soon as he is able. I was searching for a nice pattern, and this one seems to be exactly what I was searching for. Thank you for sharing.

Very interesting indeed. I have knitted lots of hats, but the one that I have worn and worn for years has been one I knitted sideways (neige eternal pattern) with short rows. It's by far the most comfortable as easiest to knit as there's no awkward part of knitting a circle with just a few stitches. This is a very similar technique and I had never thought of doing the same short rows in crochet, so thank you so much for your video!

I usually make them from the top down because I just detest that bunched up messy look that most bottom up hats have when you sew the top closed. How do you get from 5:44 in the video to 7:04? I purchased the PDF, and I am lost after I finish the first "Next Row (RS):" to the first "Next Row (WS):" before moving on to the segment called Crown Segment. I stopped at Ch 1 and turn at the end of the first "Next Row (RS):" Where I stopped put my crochet hook and Ch.1 at the top of the crown like yours is at 5:44. So, how do I start crocheting the row you finished at 7:11 in the video? Do I cut the yarn at the end of 5:44 and start at the band again, or how do I get from 5:44 to 7:11? Please help. 🧐😵

I like the hat very much. It is great to look at. So different than others. Thanks for letting know about e. When you started did you find it hard to understand?

Glad you like it! I found crochet short rows to be easier to grasp than knitting short rows, but for this one, once you get a feel for how the pattern is laid out, and you finish one of the crown segment repeats, I think it's easier to memorize what to do next :)

I too find the instructions confusing and a complete video from beginning, middle and end would be very helpful and with you explaining what you are doing etc. Thank you.

I found this pattern interesting. My only qualm is what you mentioned; the light background and yarn. My eyesight unfortunately is not what it once was and it made it difficult to see everything you were doing. Thank you for a beautiful video nonetheless. It is amazing!

I made something very similar from another UA-camr about 8years ago…it’s gorgeous when you use two different color yarns.
