@@mandylavery4558 you have to crochet over the top of the tail as you crochet around the chain. Then when you get to the end of the round, you pull the tail to close it.

@@kyliecashion3740 you won't be able to follow my pattern exactly because the yarn you're using is 3 times smaller than the yarn I'm using in the video. You would have to keep increasing until you reach the same diameter measurement and then continue on in the stitch pattern until it's the same length.
@@shelleydueck6630 you could follow the concept for sure! Are you familiar with increasing in the round using double crochet? I believe another comment said they increased to 60 stitches total, then just followed the pattern repeats until it measured the desired length
You're using a size 7 jumbo weight yarn? That's going to feel like a helmet lol. But you certainly could add more chains at the beginning if you need to.

Hellolove ur pattern. For a large 22 circumference on the head in 12 inches long how many stitches would I use in the circle the same as you’re doing or add more this is a large person
This hat should fit that circumference and you would just repeat the stitch pattern rows til you get 12 inches. If you're still coming up too small, you're probably crocheting more tightly than me and could go up a hook size.
What's the point if "turning your work" with a circular item like a hat? Does it just create a different texture? Or why not continue on the pattern with the front side towards you the whole time?
@@rebeccaayscue3275 I really hadn't considered it, honestly. Which style would you prefer? The previous 2 cowls I've designed have been button up with fringe, but I have done the tubular version before

I don’t have time to find a different hook as the craft stores are fresh out and I need a gift done quick. Should I restart and just try to do a looser stitch?
Okay answered my own question! I ended up going back and restarting with a waaay looser stitch than I would normally do and ended up with a 7 inch diameter :) Guess I keep it pretty tight normally.
You would increase 12 times every round until you reach the diameter you need. If you notice on the first 3 rounds you add a dc between each increase. I have a video that might help you understand what I'm saying better. Let me get the link
I tried this twice last night and both time it ended up too long and I had to rip it apart. The first measurement was right on. So I need to make my stitches tighter? I was really enjoying it but I’m discouraged now 😕

Very confused beginner here! Would I need to increase the stitch amounts if I used 5 weight with a 9mm hook? By double?
You would increase 12 times every round until you reach the diameter you need. If you notice on the first 3 rounds you add a dc between each increase. I have a video that might help you understand what I'm saying better. Let me get the link
Watch this video and I think you will understand what I'm saying: ua-cam.com/video/yta9ve38ePg/v-deo.htmlsi=KbXjQ_P8s6AnOI9F
How do I make it slightly bigger for a larger head?
I would go up a hook size or simply intentionally crochet more loosely
Does this still work with a thinner acrylic yarn?
@@loveedmondson5455 not the exact stitch counts, but the concept would if you followed the measurements
I tried this twice last night and both time it ended up too long and I had to rip it apart. The first measurement was right on. So I need to make my stitches tighter? I was really enjoying it but I’m discouraged now 😕
@@SerendipitousButterflies if it's too long, consider doing fewer rounds
@ ok! I’m always afraid to just switch things up until I’m more comfortable. I’ll try that this evening. Thank you!!
@ you got this! 💪🏼☺️
Will it work out the same way on rd 4 if your left handed?
I honestly don't know but I can't imagine it would be different in the end. I'm so sorry I don't know the answer🙈
Hi! I need to make this for my husband..who has a large head.
Not sure how to modify the pattern? I only crochet amigurumi! 😂
I have a quick video tutorial on how to make a beanie by measurements. It will make more sense when you measure the diameter I give after Round 3 in the Speedy Beanie video. I recommend watching this tutorial and then watching the Speedy Beanie to understand how to adjust for your hubby's head:
