  • Different apps promise the same thing… the ability to connect your iPhone as a camera to your computer for live streaming. Here I am going to be showing you how you can do this with an app called OBS.Camera and even a way of how you can use this app for webcam work in other applications and not just OBS Studio!
    Please note that the pricing of this app has since changed.
    Important note: this app supports audio and video transmission which many others don't!

    I started using OBS yesterday, but since the camera was only an old USB camera, I googled to see if there was a way to use my iPhone as a USB camera, and your video was a hit. When I tried it according to the video, I was surprised that my iPhone worked as a USB camera. Also, I was surprised that the image quality was incomparably better than the old USB camera. Thank you very much for your help.

Even though I downloaded the plugin, the app, and the studio, and I am able to connect my phone to the studio and see my phone camera's image on the studio, it is still not being recognized as a webcam by my Mac computer. my NDI isn't working. I tried everything. The support team told me I apparently downloaded an older version of OBS (although i just got it a week ago and it was the only one on their page), so they send me a link to download the older version of the ios USB and that works great. HOWEVER. I literally tried downloading every NDI version that page has to offer and absolutely nothing is working. Don't know if I should just give up by now because it's causing me a headache.

    It was a wonderful detailed tutorial and has helped me to set up everything nicely from ny iPhone (Audio + Video) to zoom through OBS.
    It would be helpful if you can answer following Queries:
    1) What max resolution can I get in OBS from my iphone 12 max pro?
    2) What max resolution can I get in Zoom from OBS
    3) Can I blur my background using OBS? I do not wish to use the blur option of ZOOM as that is too high.
    4) Can I blur my virtual background a little bit if I am using a green screen.

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  3 роки тому

      Hi Abhinav, I'm happy you found this video helpful.
      Now to your questions:
      1) Please ask the developers of the application they should have the best answer for you on that. But granted that you want to send it through to Zoom, I don't think there is a good point for going higher than 1920x1080 with 30 or 60fps.
      2) Similar, probably will not help much if you go up to 4k - in live streaming and live calls like that. So I'd stick with 1080p.
      3) OBS can blur things but it is not specific enough to just blur the background. Maybe there are plugins that can do that but I don't know.
      4) If you are using a green screen, then you could do that and add a blur effect (right click the virtual background and go to Filters and there you can add the blur effect).
      Good luck.

      You'd have to ask the OBS.camera people that. I don't know that stuff about windows.

      I do not use windows. So I wouldn’t know. Only thing I can think is check the website and see in their support docs (or send an email to the developers).

    Did you pay for the premium to get rid of the watermark???

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  2 роки тому

      As I stated in the video, the app was gifted to me by the developers so I had the premium and did not experience the watermark. But also note, that at the time when I made this video, their pricing was a one time payment and not a subscription.

      @@ChrisSpiegl yeah but dude it costs 70 dollars for a one time payment. Thats outrageous. I want to view my puppy at home and could buy a 35 dollar webcam rather than this, which is claimed to be open source. It's absurd. The fact that you don't include that makes people not want to get this.

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  2 роки тому

      @@Excellence478 The pricing at the time of making the video was much more reasonable. If I remember correctly, it was something around $16.
      This can be confirmed here: appsliced.co/app?n=obs-studio-iphone-video-source
      Video published 3rd of Feb 2021.
      The app was a one time purchase without any option for subscriptions and much less expensive at the time.
      The subscription model was introduced in November 2021.

But it for 70 dollars or pay monthly. OBS is open source so why is this not open source?????

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  2 роки тому

      Two points:
      a) not everything can be open source since the people developing these things need to make money. OBS is supported by hundreds if not thousands of people with donations of money and time.
      b) I do get the frustration with the high price. At the time when I was making this video the price was around 16$ - which I think is reasonable. Right now, I find it too expensive for the lifetime deal.
