    I really love your videos, they reinvigorated what I was doing when I first started doing regular zoom meetings. I hadn’t considered doing custom graphics built in Keynote until seeing your video though. I watch lots of your videos multiple times now and they have been very helpful. So Thank You very much!
    Now I have been using CamTwist which has worked very well for me as a virtual camera used with Zoom Meetings. OBS wasn’t as is to install until they updated so you could install to MacOS easily. So I’ve downloaded that to try out. The using the iPad as a Whiteboard is something I have been looking to do, and potential solved a problem I was trying to solve to create an easy Glassboard videos. I have run into a problem in that iPad connected via USB to my Mac, the whiteboard is mirrored the webcam video is not mirrored, which means anything I write on the iPad is showing up backwards in the Preview. I use Quicktime (set to Movie Recording mode) to mirror the iPad, but Quicktime Flip horizontal is grayed out, and CamTwist doesn’t allow me to flip the iPad screen. Did you run into the problem of the written text on the whiteboard showing up backwards? if so how did you solve the problem?

    • @CatMulvihill
      @CatMulvihill  3 роки тому

      Glad you are benefitting from my videos! The first thing I would do with the flip is to make sure your mirroring is turned off in Zoom. Go into your Zoom Preferences > Video and make sure Mirror My Video is turned off. I have never used CamTwist, so I can't speak to whether that is part of the issue. In theory, nothing should need to be mirrored in any of the apps or software.

    What do you think of Zoom's new and improved Whiteboard solution as compared to whiteboarding on iPad via OBS/Ecamm? I've found it's pretty easy to Zoom into a meeting with my iPad and use my Apple Pencil to with the Zoom Whiteboard, Notes or Procreate. Maybe not as profesh for mostly one-way training engagements, but super fast and easy for collaboration.

    • @CatMulvihill

      I actually considered that but didn't end up testing it out in advance. It could be worth testing out!
      I'm not sure whether GoodNotes is considered an Evernote competitor or not. I only just started to use it since it was recommended for the whiteboard option. From a quick glance, I would say it does not have as many features as Evernote.

    Do you have a video explaining how you do your countdown timer or is it an Ecamm thing specifically (I use OBS)

    • @iMaxN
      @iMaxN 3 роки тому +1

      Hi Meg, i think it´s a little bit of both. She uses the grafics from Life Streaming Pros, i think. But this is only the combo animated circle and grayed layer. The timer itself and the text is an overlay inside Ecamm Live.

    • @CatMulvihill
      @CatMulvihill  3 роки тому +2

      Yes! That's correct. I bought my timer from Live Streaming Pros: merch.livestreamingpros.com/
      It's a movie file that loops, but the timer is native to Ecamm.
      OBS does have a countdown timer, and I'm planning to do a video on it later this month. In the meantime, there are a number of tutorials on UA-cam about it! You would still want to add your own overlay and animated graphic.

  • @user-wn3lq7gz5f
    @user-wn3lq7gz5f 2 роки тому

    Hi Cat, first time trying to set all this up and your name was recommended to me. (Located in Australia so you're truly global!). Have subscribed just now.
    Q. Virtual Camera - for Windows machine? (It wasnt clear to me (as a beginner sorry) in watching your video why you were using both eCamm and OBS? I believe you said eCamm is apple only.... Is OBS the equivalent on Windows?)
    I have an iPad, but the only bit of Apple kit we own. Otherwise Android and Microsoft across the board. I really like the concept of drawing on the ipad though as you demo'd. Also - I dont believe you explained what the other end of the hdmi was plugged into?..... I think you said a 'dock'??
    My business would likely involve zoom presentations and likely often two presenters. Can one be talking while the other one draws? I'd be interested to understand if you think two presenters offers a particular complication.... we'd like to avoid having to purchase multiple software/devices where this can be avoided.
    Thanks!

    • @user-wn3lq7gz5f
      @user-wn3lq7gz5f 2 роки тому

      Hey Cat - the above was my first dive into these technologies. I now know what OBS is (first video I'd seen) so you can ignore that. I've also attempted setting up NDI overnight ... but I'll write to you on that video in relation the issue am having there. (which is preventing currently the iPad connecting)
      So really the only thing i'm still trying to work out from this thread is whether OBS can perform interviews (where both participants can see the output or recording). We are both on one network .... so perhaps NDI is the answer where the OBS output can be seen on the interviewee's machine via NDI on their machine? Just an idea and once I get NDI working properly will come back to this.

    • @CatMulvihill
      @CatMulvihill  2 роки тому

      If you are on the same network, you should be able to use NDI Tools to share an output with someone else. I have never tried to bring someone in via OBS and have them see an output (since I use Ecamm for interviews).
