Upon seeing the title: "Oh no, please tell me Adrahil didn't die. Or Imrahil. Not another tragic demise of a custom general..." "Oh, it's just that random guy. No big deal." But yes, as you said, you're beginning to see the challenge of Dol Amroth. Pushing to take out either Harad or the Ar-Adunaim leaves an ever-lengthening flank exposed to the other, with Khand a constant additional threat who will almost always attack you until/unless they side with the Blue Wizards. And with the high price tag of Dol Amroth's units, it is quite difficult to field sufficient forces for two or three different fronts until you've built up a substantial economic base. One thing that I've found playing Dol Amroth is that, despite the expense of ships, naval superiority is often an important ingredient to their success. Sea control can allow you to reinforce your far-flung armies more rapidly, and open the door to damaging and lucrative hit-and-run raids along the enemy coast (give those barbarous AA a taste of their own medicine).
I mean... i can understand this call to sacrifice. In my last Dunedain attempt i lost Gandalf not long after geting him... he is the Dunedains first usefull cavalry unit... so i cheesed the AI with him. But they managed to pick his model and killing him. I was crying... but a few turns later i get a weird message... Gandalf was back. With a even better cavalry... Gandalf the White. I completly forgott this script. XD
This is the third let's play with Dol Amroth you have done, including the first one which was barely a let's play. So the people claiming you have done four are incorrect. Also the last one was with v2 before it was even released way before a lot of changes, like the introduction of the Ar-Ardunaim and the Khand Istari script and after a lot of unit changes for Dol Amroth and their enemies. In my opinion it's not at all to early for a new Dol Amroth campaign.
24:10 To make sure you reach a settlement at the edge of your movement zone, move a cavalry unit first to besiege it and attach the rest of your army to it once your cav unit is besieging the settlement
The thing about trade that is hard to quantify upon review is the way settlements affect one another. Building a port in a town will increase the trade that other towns are able to get from that town, but this doesn't really show up in the projected profits of the settlement. As a rule, trade is incredibly powerful in this game - its effect almost always exceeds projections in my experience.
I am glad you are now rethinking the difficulty level of Dol Amroth from the faction overview. A tip I can suggest to cut off the Ardinium from being a thorn. If you take the 3 admirals you have and park them at all the possible crossing points at the mouth of the Harnin. They can not cross over to Gobel Mirlond.
You should put only one crossing from southern side of "Mouth's of the Anduin" on first island and either Barad-Harn or that other settlement Tirithoros or how it's called on top of it so they have some strategic value. They could be Trafalgar of Anduin rather than some generic settlements. It would give more options when playing as either Dol Amroth or Harad, Khand or Ar-Adunaim. Maybe even make it a castle or even better Stronghold or a Fortress so if you lets say lose it as Dol Amroth enemy gets powerful recruiting centar very close to your homeland which can make it harder campaign or easier if you hold it. Right now you're forced to rush everyone and it's very linear. Could maybe just hold there and go help Gondor deal with mordor if you want which would being interesting twist to Dol Amroth campaign.
I counted, there are three DA campaigns on your channel including this one. The first campaign you ever did was DA and about 2 years ago you also did a DA campaign so it’s not that bad.
Within the context of middle earth portrayed in DaC the Swan knights would be the best cavalry Purely because they have good quality plate armour so they would be immune to more or less all projectiles like arrows or bolts.
Moving Tirithoros to guard the actual strait is a great idea! I feel like that should be the function of that province, and is a great way for Gondor and Dol Amroth to resist the three-way hurdle from the south a bit better. Also how exactly does Imrahil's larger bodyguard work? I know that 77 men is the largest number a bodyguard-unit can replenish to, but if he is Royal Swan guard, maybe he will not respawn to a larger number than the standard royal swan guard-size, and the extra men he has at the start is a one off?
Bodyguard sizes are determined by "Personal Security", which generals can increase through certain traits and ancillaries. Being the faction heir gives a huge bonus to PS, that's why Imrahil's bodyguard will replenish beyond the 13/14/15 men of regular generals. The hard cap of 77 does apply regardless, although I think the DaC team made cavalry bodyguards cap out before that in general due to balancing reasons. :)
Galu there is a away to merge ships, leave a ship or a fleet in a port and then recruit a ship and then the new ship will join, of course it isn't so easy then merging in a more common way, but when you recruit one or more ships in a town put one of your ships there. Use the ones with the best admirals or with the large ship numbers.
Speaking of music, I do occasionally have audio related issues myself. Occasionally the music will be replaced by a crackling/static sound, followed by a minute or two of silence, followed by music continuing as normal. This usually only happens after I've been playing for a while. I only have this occur on DaC, so I'm hoping it's not foreshadowing the death of one of the components inside my PC.
Nah it's not your pc, there are a few corrupted songs in DAC. List out the factions you have a problem with music-wise, as well as whether it is campaign map or battlemap and they should be able to fix them.
Ah great (for my PC at least). I'll make a note to post a message on the Discord, but for completeness I'll say here too... The audio issues occur on the campaign map when playing as the Northern Dunedain. I have a feeling the song after the crackling is usually Leilianna's song from Dragon Age, but that relies on trusting my memory and assumes there's no song shuffler.
doing my own dol amroth campaign because why not? turn 50 is rolling around, Ar Adunaim put their heir, ruler, and general on a boat, along with their entire army, sailed to tolfalas, and got sunk, leading to the faction's untimely demise. Gondor is getting steamrolled by all 9 nazgul (theres a theme there every time I play anyone else other than gondor, you might want to restrict the Nazgul's deployment across the board, otherwise gondor loses too fast) overall 8/10, supply runs out too fast for generals so it's just a negative modifier to expansion, and gondor gets steamrolled far too quickly.
Gopher has a good kingdom come deliverance playlist. You could put you're army in a ship and head for Faen'obel its risky but you don't need to hold it just cut off the head of the snake if he is still there.
Periodically during on the campaign map I get a very loud intermittent buzzing skipping sound. I believe the this happens when the music playlist restarts. After about 10 seconds the normal music plays again. This issue happened in the previous version 3.5 and in this current version 4.5.

Galu, if you'd like to, I would very much like to be kept abreast of what you think of the AIs available (I imagine you're still using the older one you mentioned in the previous episode). Also, er, I don't quite know what you were thinking of sending only Istion and two accompanying units across the Mouths of Anduin (aside from 'ooh fort, free upkeep!'). But then, I do tend to play very conservatively, which probably isn't nearly as exciting. ;o) But to my conservative sensibilities, Barad Harn, Titrithoros and that fort across the mouth seem like traps until you have a sufficient force to at least repel what enemy forces might come to face you. Beacons for the enemy to focus on, not easy to reinforce. Sacking Barad Harn is an option, though, although I am not sure whether that is worth it. My gut would suggest raiding the Harnen at a later date instead, but I suppose it depends on how easy it is to take Barad Harn as opposed to taking settlements along the Harnen. Plus going that far south requires more of a seperate defensive force at home.
Galu is there a way to swap the war horn dol amroth and gondor share to another faction. Possibly to dale or ND. Da and gondors war horn sounds so unepic during charges. Of course this is my opinion.
Galu I found the Dol Amroth campaign way too hard, I had no money at all and just got overwhelmed by all the evil factions. Keen to see you try and win it, and pay for that ridiculous 1 rating you gave it in the faction overview!
Dol Amroth campaign its the hardest, Anduin second and Angmar third, and the recruitment needs a rework, a lot of armies after 80 turn.
