Personally, I would recommend leaving Baragund to defend Gobel Tolfalas over Tirithoros at the moment. Tolfalas is currently more developed than Tirithoros, makes more money than Tirithoros, and (since it starts as a Stronghold now) has greater long time potential as a recruitment center than Tirithoros. The only negative I can see is that you would have to transport any units trained there to the mainland, but, if I recall correctly, you said something about wanting to control the sea in an earlier episode. Thank you for another great episode Galu, and thank you and the modding team for all the hard work you've put into this mod.
The reason sometimes missile units don't move when you tell them to is because they have to finish their reloading/firing animation before they can do anything else. And when you tell them to move during the animation they will cancel that volley even though the animation will still be finished
9:00 You could also march your infantry forward instead of trying to get your archers back, that's what I sometimes do and it works better than moving the archers. However it happens that I forget or don't move them quick enough and then ... yeah. sometimes it's just better to have them behind, at least if you are on a nice hill.
I think Dol Amroth's difficulty rating is fair. If you don't cheese with general-filled armies and/or beeline for Umbar + Khand sides with Mordor, then the campaign can be an exciting challenge. Forcing you to fight 3 factions that can throw full stacks (of varying quality) at you while you're stuck deciding where your depleted, yet excellent, armies should defend or attack. Good stuff though Galu, always enjoy your content. And as a fellow fan of the silver swan princedom, I can't wait for more!
@Arachir Galudirithon Would you consider making the nazgul as camels in the game with a bonus toward cavalry? Would make it more fun. Maybe even giving them a lower armor, and higher defence so that they are susceptible to arrow fire?
I think Imrahil could be even more effective if he were used to snipe the captains/generals of opposing armies, rather than destorying trash units. By sniping the captain for instance and then charging the trash would cause a mass route and the battle would be won before you knew it.
If some people give the Dol Amroth difficulty a 1 then imagine if all of his generals were cavalry. No wonder they made so few generals cavalry generals with so few men. It sucks for the immersion but to balance the game it must be done.
Tbh, I think the difficulty for the DA campaign is just right atm! The Royal Guard of the AA are a tough nut to crack, even for Imrahil. Had to fight 4 really tough battles that I'm almost sure most people would not be able to win. I didn't group up my generals though as they were all a bit spread out, trying to get to the frontline asap. Turn 10 and it was done. Sadly I lost the ship battle vs that infamous AA admiral so I went the land route. All in all great fun. And since I'm going for a bit of a roleplay campaign I am trying to build up now and let the Haradrim and Khand get really strong so the fun is not over yet :D
I'd give the DA campaign a difficulty rating of 4 (if you go to war with Khand ofc). Probably around the level of Anduin? Likely harder than Angmar but I am not far enough into my campaign to really tell. I don't think any faction deserves a 5. High elves is an easy 1 though. Cirdan is just melting people without breaking a sweat. Only has to fear Enedwaiths javelins. I'm just glad I finally broke free from Bannerlord and can enjoy some relaxed DaC.
Does anyone know why you can't take Archer towers in a siege? I've played as the woodland realm, dwarves of khazad-dum, and are adunaim and in every single siege Ive fought I have fully controlled the walls, yet the Archer towers never turn to my side and keep firing at my men. It's extremely frustrating and annoying. Is this a bug, or a feature?
I think Gandalf should be one of the generals that gets a custom bg. I'm not sure how many unit slots are left, but maybe just Gandalf the white. Gandalf is just so iconic for the entire universe.
Just for the sake of fun i once modded the game and gave Imrahil knights of the Silver Swann as his bodyguard, yes that definitely made the campaign difficulty a 1 :)
I mean, if a lance crashes into the back of your skull, being run over by a horse after the fact really wouldn't add much to the equation. Hope you can forgive the little nitpick on my end. Loving your playthroughs, and will download this version the first chance I get.
Did you know that if the enemy's units are blobbed up, if you charge your cavalry into a unit that is somewhat behind the others, your cav will attempt to charge through the other enemy units in front of it to get to the unit you clicked on? It's borderline cheesing, but your cav will just mow down absurd numbers of enemies in one charge if you line it all up nicely.
I remember looking at when Rohan sent like 500 cavalry to retake Edoras which was filled with angry Celts and Gauls, otherwise known as Dunlendings, likely with a bunch of axes and spears as well as their King Wulf with his bodyguard, and somehow manage to break into a fortified position and win, safe to say Tolkien overestimates cavalry. If Divide and Conquer is any indication then the likeliness of them winning is equivalent to using Khergits in a siege against Rhodoks, or having light cavalry charge against pikes
In my experience slogging your way overland as Dol Amroth is intensely difficult and means its unlikely you'll actually be able to win. First off it massively overstretches your already limited resources and i don't think that the settlements actually pay for the investment needed to keep them. It also leaves you open to attack from three sides and as all three of your enemies recruit more than you, you're either overwhelmed or ground down into nothing. Even with constant victories you probably won't be able to take your enemies recruiting centres simply because they are so far away from your own. As your supply lines become increasingly stretched and thin the enemies shorten, meaning they can throw stack after stack at you while your armies dwindle into nothing. Similarly your limited resources means you can't both defend your conquests and attack at the same time. In my experience while you fight Harad Khand will come in and snipe your undefended towns, isolating you and leaving you unable to reinforce. In my opinion the only way to win this campaign is to strike in one single attack and seize the recruiting centres all in one go and to remove your enemy one at a time. Walking overland this is pretty much impossible so your only option is to attack by sea. Land your armies suddenly onto the most important of the Ar Ardunaim cities, take them and destroy them swiftly before any response can be gathered. Then i recommend transporting your troops via the river directly into the heart of Harad, hit them hard and suddenly, and take them out before they can properly organise a defence. From there all that you need to do is to clean up Harad and the Ar Ardunaim and then deal with khand.
This is why I fight the AA in the beginning as hard as I can. I don't see it as a cheesy playstyle, just a hyperaggressive one with a clear strategy in mind. I don't even wait for my generals to group up, that takes too much time already. ^^< I just went down the coast like a wreckingball and defeated the AA at Turn 10 when I killed their last family member at the fort south of Gobel Mirlond. So there are several ways to win with varying difficulty, as it should be.
Hello mate. Quick one... Does the game allow "Man of the Hour" field promotions to be whatever unit the captain is or is that something you've tried and tested before/not interested in doing? I just like to imagine the captain of a lowly group of ambushed soldiers being finally recognised for his valor, even if they're Gondor Militia tier!
I don't think so. Any trustworthy source for that? Almost any game has exploits if you look for them (which means nowadays just a google/youtube search). On a sidenote, I find it rather funny that so many people watch Spiff Bannerlord-exploit videos and are now spamming comments on every Bannerlord video on every possible channel about said exploits. Well, Tolkiens vision of op cavalry isnt so far away form the truth to be honest. Ask Swedish, Russians and Turks about Polish Hussars xD and battles when they lost having 20-50k soldiers against few hundres to few thousand hussars.
Many historians take a knight to be worth about 5 professional footmen when reviewing the size of armies of the middle ages, so I think Tolkien’s vision is an appropriate one regarding combat in medieval times.
