On the topic of sentient Servitors. In one of the Horus Heresy books, one of the female gunservitors who accompanies a space marine onto Mars gets killed, and from her point of view before she dies, she sees the last imagines of her children in her mind..
It's a very crucial evidence that some of not all servitors are still sentient to some extent.
That's not just grim and dark, that's... that's actually depressing.
Which book was that from? That is horrible :(

Another noteworthy use of plant zombies is Twilight Imperium’s Dizurga. In this case there is a plant hivemind called the Arborec that has created plant zombies to serve as their diplomats & traders, since plants can’t talk. Dizurga are sentient and can talk, and they strenuously assure us that no portion of the dead bodies’ conscious remain
Why orks can't be zombified
"You can put the rot in the ork but you can't take the ork out of the rot"
This also reminds me of the time when a full blown Ork Waaaghhh got stuck in with a full blown Hive Fleet conquest.
Like, the strengths of both species are totally offset by their disadvantages and vice verse. Nearly perfectly.
That Ork-Tyranid war is still ongoing in the lore and now a huge concern for the Imperium, because the Orks are being drawn to it for a good scrap whilst the Nids are adapting and evolving. It's pushed both species into an unintended arms race that is threatening to spiral out of control into a huge Waaagh and/or Nid evolution so far unseen 🤷♂️🤣
@@matthewlindsay1046 For me, it's really interesting speculation, too.
Because both races, Tyranids and Orks, on the surface seem very similar.
Huge numbers(Tyranids #1 and Orks a hard #2).
They rely on *grind warfare* to win.
Both of them take a long term approach to warfare, but for very different reasons.
The Tyranids are trying to find the most *cost-effective* way to attain bio-mass, so they're quite capable of playing the long game. Assassination, infiltration, coercion, deep underground tunnels full of weirdos.
Orks fight for fun, so they don't *care* if the war drags on forever.
Orks reproduce, but they don't seem to *need biomatter* to do it. They just sorta plop their spores all over creation and it kinda works and gradually forms it's own pile of goo and fungus that eventually sprouts orks.
Conversely, the Tyranids *NEED* Biomass in order to operate effectively. The orks just sorta create that vicious addiction-feed-back-cycle.
The Orks might *PRODUCE* bio-mass indefinitely, but they can also make it very, very expensive to obtain. Which the tyranids don't want.
Conversely, the tyranids like relying on terror, coercion, mutation, manipulation, and using animal cunning against their foes.
Orks do the *EXACT SAME THING* but do it in the exact opposite way, which means that their advantages against humans(numbers, guts, tenacity, fear) is completely wasted against creatures with equal numbers, no fear whatsoever, mutations and no real government that the Orks can begin to understand.
And vice verse. A *LOT* of tyranid strengths are wasted against the Orks.
Time. Patience. Taking the Long Game. Manipulating leaders. Creating legions of followers that undercut the current social order.
*NONE* of that is effective against Orks.
So, it's fascinating that both species have innate advantages that can allow both of them to wreck havok on everything.... Up to and including Eldar and Necron, FFS.
But they *WILL NOT WORK* against each other.
Blunt force trauma vs. Blunt force trauma.
Orks vs. Tyranids is a baseball bat fight.

"Their lasguns had no effect... to the surprise of no-one." I mean yeah it kinda goes without saying
*cue angry Tanith 1st And Only noises
To be fair to lasguns, they would easily dismember puny mortals like you and I. Massed volleys of super hot laser beams ain't no joke.
Lasguns are actually extremely powerful weapons that put any modern hand held weapons completely to shame. The las rounds fire so hot that they can vaporize concrete. Getting hit by one causes the fluids inside of you to boil and violently expand, resulting in a literal gore explosion where your shoulder used to be. The only problem with lasguns is that everything else in 40k is so ridiculous that it can shrug off a hit like that and keep going.
I always visualize the lazguns from AKIRA as an example of what they can do to the human body
@@TheBaconShaman
Its not completely true to make the claim that lasguns are the worst weapons in 40k, because regular guns are still in use, as well as even more primitive stuff like bows and arrows

That end quote showing that fanatical devotion to the God-Emperor is just another kind of zombification. Albeit one with a bit more agency for those affected.
In the book 'Indomitus' there is a description of humans that have been affected by the null effect of Necron pylons. They are 'zombified' in the sense that they are cut off from the warp and so their souls. Would you say that they are worthy of the term zombie in that their minds are atrophied? Or is that something for part 2?... The book was crap but there was quite a good description by one of the necron tech wizards of the phenomenon.
